Chapter 349: Chapter 210: A Century of Plunder, the Jade Magic Ring’s Demise
The last Middle Rank God to enter the Jade Magic Ring Tree was devoured by Zorn’s Insect King Curse.
Zorn coldly surveyed his surroundings.
He faintly sensed a powerful will observing him from the shadows.
A powerful Ancient God couldn’t possibly let their power permeate this place, but a certain degree of observation was still possible.
The observing presence lasted only for a moment before dissipating.
Zorn, however, was not afraid of this prying presence.
’So what if they saw?’
Given the extent of his infiltration of the Jade Magic Ring Tree, even if the Jade Realm dispatched a large number of similar experts, Zorn could still eliminate them one by one.
In fact... he could kill as many as they sent.
The only potential trouble was that it would delay his cultivation time.
However, killing those Divine Spirits was not without its benefits for Zorn.
Those Divine Spirits could serve as nutrients, continuously nourishing the growth of his Ancient God Curse and reinforcing his own foundation.
Now, his Tree of Calamity Magic Ring could not only digest the root power of the Jade Magic Ring Tree, but it could also digest any Divine Spirits fed to it.
After carefully extending his senses along the Cosmic Magic Net, Zorn began to take out the resources he had hidden away and once again started building two types of Ritual Altars.
...
The will slowly retracted, returning to its source.
The Ancient God Kerumnoc’s expression was exceptionally dark.
Endless Dark Ancient God Power formed a howling storm around him.
"How did it go?"
Within the majestic Ancient Hall of the Starry Sky, another Ancient God slowly inquired.
"That Evil God used his Insect King Curse to become a swarm of bizarre insects. He’s infiltrated the Jade Magic Ring Tree and has even... become a part of the tree itself."
"It seems he has achieved a parasitic symbiosis with the Jade Magic Ring Tree."
"Parasitic symbiosis?"
The Ancient God who had asked the question was taken aback.
"If that’s the case, expelling this Evil God is going to be difficult."
"Difficult? Heh..."
The Ancient God Kerumnoc sneered.
"I’d say it’s past difficult. It’s a persistent affliction we can’t get rid of."
"That Evil God Zorn uses his bizarre Insect Curse to travel freely inside it. Our Middle Rank Gods, however, have extreme difficulty getting in. Even the few with special Talents who do manage to enter are no match for him."
"And I hand-picked this last squad of Middle Rank Gods myself after a long search."
"I imagine the squads the rest of you picked would have fared no better."
At these words, the Dark Element Ancient God’s brow furrowed slightly.
If what the Ancient God Kerumnoc said was true, then in this war of the Ancient Divine Kingdoms, not only would they face defeat, but it would be a crushing one.
"Is there truly no way to eliminate this damned insect?"
The Dark Element Ancient God, Necrolytus, asked.
"It’s not that we’re completely without options..."
the Ancient God Kerumnoc said, his voice cold.
"As time goes on, our chances will only improve."
"As time goes on..."
Necrolytus frowned in thought for a moment before realization dawned.
"That’s true, but simply letting time pass... will only allow that cunning Evil God to grow at an even more alarming rate."
"Heh... Of course, we won’t let him grow unimpeded," Kerumnoc said coldly, "The subsequent offensive plans will continue as scheduled."
"We just have to wait for the right moment. Not only will we be able to kill that greedy, cunning, and damned Evil God, but I’ll also be able to reclaim my Ancient God Artifact."
...
Although the squad capable of infiltrating the Jade Magic Ring Tree was strong, Zorn, who had now made his nest within it, was clearly a cut above.
Thus, for the next year or two, no squads capable of entering the Tree of the Magic Ring came to interfere with Zorn’s cultivation.
However, several years later, when Zorn was immersed in secluded cultivation and had relaxed his watch over the Jade Magic Ring Tree, another squad quietly infiltrated.
This time, the squad adopted a different strategy.
They planted devices in numerous nest locations. Then, at a predetermined time, all the devices were detonated simultaneously.
In an instant, the altars in over a hundred of Zorn’s nest nodes were destroyed.
This naturally infuriated Zorn.
Zorn’s projection naturally hunted down and killed the intruders one by one.
But his many nest nodes were also disrupted to varying degrees.
Clearly, the Jade Magic Ring Realm had studied the measures Zorn had put in place and was beginning to specifically counter them.
Fortunately, Zorn was an Evil God and had no shortage of powerful methods at his disposal.
After cleaning up the nest nodes, Zorn once again began setting up hundreds of Ritual Altars.
In the past few years, Zorn had constructed an enormous number of nests within the Jade Magic Ring Tree.
A full five to six hundred of them.
However, he had only placed Ritual Altars in about two hundred of those locations.
Although there were only a little over two hundred altars, their combined efficiency was already double that of the Jade Realm’s own efforts to extract the root power of the Jade Magic Ring Tree.
At the Jade Realm’s original extraction rate, it would have taken them four to five hundred years to drain most of the Jade Magic Ring Tree’s root power.
But with the two-hundred-some Ritual Altars Zorn had deployed, that efficiency had now tripled.
