Chapter 1780: Chapter 1780: The Truth Is Too Cruel

Little Taotie couldn’t bring himself to speak, so he chose to take him there and let him see for himself.

Little Taotie went searching based on his memory of that container, in a Container Area filled with red containers, one that looked neither new nor old, quite inconspicuous.

"Why did you bring me here?" Wandering Spirit asked, puzzled, but as he approached the container, an indescribable violent emotion surged in his eyes, which instantly turned blood-red.

"Calm down first."

Little Taotie scratched his head, feeling a bit helpless.

He had just brought him close to the container, without even seeing the abandoned surgical table inside, yet he was already overwhelmed.

"Here..." Wandering Spirit felt a bit nauseous: "It makes me physically uncomfortable."

Little Taotie tilted his head: "You’ve forgotten again, you’re already dead."

Wandering Spirit’s tone shifted: "Here... it makes my soul nauseous."

Little Taotie nodded in agreement: "I find it disgusting too."

Even though what he saw was very vague, Little Taotie still saw the bloodiness, which made him feel nauseated.

"They’re all rusted." Little Taotie noticed the areas locking the container had rusted shut, feeling a bit troubled.

Wandering Spirit laughed: "There’s one advantage to my state, I can go straight through, I’ll go in first."

"No! No!!!"

But it was too late, Wandering Spirit had already gone inside.

Little Taotie immediately covered his ears.

Sure enough, a piercing scream came from within.

"What’s happening inside?" Hua Jinyan inquired.

Little Taotie leaned close to his ear and whispered: "It’s the surgical table, and some of his remaining... He was sent in by someone..."

"You’re talking brain extraction? Organ transplantation?"

Little Taotie nodded: "Even skin, retina... nothing usable was left."

Hua Jinyan fell silent.

Even he felt some pity for this Wandering Spirit.

"If we can help, let’s help him?" Little Taotie sighed: "I’m just afraid that once we tell his father, his father might not be able to bear it."

Hua Jinyan: "Perhaps when he comes out, he’ll change his mind."

The piercing screams lasted a long time, and after they stopped, Wandering Spirit’s murmurs could be faintly heard: "Why like this... Why me... Why did I go into the mountains alone to take photos... Why..."

It took a while before he floated out of the container.

He rasped: "Since it’s already rusted, don’t go in there, there’s nothing worth seeing inside. You two kids should go home quickly, stop playing here. What if you run into bad people, hurry up and leave."

"We wanted to help you." Little Taotie didn’t look at the container, she really didn’t want to see those things.

"No need."

Just as Hua Jinyan predicted, Wandering Spirit indeed changed his mind.

"Don’t you miss your father?"

"Sometimes not being found, not receiving news, might be good. At least, he’ll think I’m alive, just missing, always holding onto that thought. Sometimes... the truth is too cruel, it’s better if it remains forever undiscovered."

Wandering Spirit’s eyes were starting to glaze over again, as if he were turning dazed and foolish.

While he was still lucid, Little Taotie pursued: "You don’t want to expose the truth, are you protecting the culprits? If they’re not brought to justice, they’re a lurking danger. Who knows, someone else might suffer like you did! Can you just let it go, not wanting them to be held accountable?"

Wandering Spirit’s formerly vacant gaze suddenly turned sinister, as if a raging storm gathered in the depths of his eyes, shrouded in darkness. A flock of crows flew overhead, and boundless black mist surrounded him.
