Chapter 60: The Gore Broc.
Both of them came to a halt, blood covering their bodies from head to toe. They turned to stare towards the eastern area, the soft humming of their Vitre in their bodies flared in response to the sudden threat.
"A big fish has appeared," Mestin rumbled, his massive hands clenching around the haft of his colossal war hammer, his amber eyes burning with the heavy memory of the northern frontiers. "Ho-ho, a strong one indeed."
Before the gates, a beast appeared from the underbrush.
A massive, low-slung shape tore through a decaying root system, shattering a hundred-year-old pine like a matchstick. It was nine feet of pure, dense muscle. It looked like a monstrous wolverine-badger hybrid.
Its underbelly was a dark, dirt-brown, but a thick, bristling ridge of rust-red hair ran from the crown of its head down its spine, stained dark with the old, dried fluids of its prey. Around its thick, muscular neck, a series of thick, glowing amber bands wrapped like a violent collar.
The light orange phantom appeared behind the beast.
A Light-Orange tier Primal Beast. The Gore Broc.
The beast dropped its sloped forehead, its black eyes locking onto the camp’s gate with manic, forward-pressing aggression. With a ferocious roar, it dug its massive forepaws into the frozen earth and charged, moving down the slight slope like a living battering ram.
"It’s coming straight for the funnel!" Bramm shouted, his eyes narrowing as he tried to reset his footing in the blood-slicked mud. "Brace yourselves!"
Adara and Mestin had started to charge towards the beast as soon as they sensed the beast move. They rushed forward with exquisite speed, seeing who would arrive first. But Mestin, being such a large figure, could not move as fast as Adara did, and she quickly overpassed him. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"I have the vanguard, Mestin!" she called out, her voice entirely calm amidst the screaming chaos.
With a single, fluid stride, she vanished from sight, leaving Mestin in the dust. He had no choice but to give up and take his disappointment out on the poor little piglets running around frantically...
Adara’s aura flared with brilliant, sharp precision, enveloping her body like a shroud of amber light as she sprinted towards the beast, her red cloak fluttering behind her like a banner of war. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Once she rounded the corner, she was finally able to see the charging beast moving like an unstoppable boulder heading towards the gates. ’A Gore Broc, huh?’
Her eyes narrowed to slits, focusing all her might on her legs, she moved even faster, her mind racing as it thought of a way to quickly and efficiently take care of the beast.
’The Gore Broc... it has a lot of weight and a charge on par with boars, but...’ Getting closer and closer, she finally found a weakness she could exploit, and a smile appeared on her face. ’They’re only capable of going straight forwards, they can’t change their trajectory easily.’
The ground shook beneath the Gore Broc’s weight as it roared toward the open gate. Adara intercepted it thirty paces out. She waited until the very last second, watching the beast drop its heavy shoulders to shatter her shins.
She didn’t jump backward. She stepped forward and sideways with agile grace and executed a perfect, sweeping spin, her tunic fluttering as she bypassed the beast’s sloped brow entirely. As the monster plowed past her, she drove her open palm straight into its thick, loose flank.
’Shatter-Wave,’ she commanded internally, channeling her entire energy output into a single point.
A concentrated pulse of Vitre erupted from her hand, driving deep into the beast’s dense skeletal structure. The impact sounded like a heavy, muffled explosion inside a cave. The Gore Broc was forced sideways, its massive five-inch spade-like mattock claws tearing deep, three-foot trenches into the dirt as it struggled to maintain its balance against the sudden, internal shockwave.
Cheers erupted from the group behind the gates as Adara successfully redirected the beast’s attention. "Don’t stop fighting!" A sudden shout from Bramm interrupted their cheers as he swung down on a Razon boar beneath his feet.
"There’s still plenty of primal beasts about! Kill those that have scattered!" he commanded, his voice resounding above the screaming and squeaking of pigs and other beasts alike.
"Keren! You and I shall take point! The rest of you get to work, let’s finish this quickly!"
With the arrival of the Gore Broc, the whole assault from the Razor Boars and other primals alike had been broken; the beasts were running rampant in a frantic panic, which made their job all the harder.
But Bramm could see that their numbers had thinned out, most likely due to a group of the beasts fleeing back into the forest itself.

Adara watched as the beast skidded to a halt, its loose skin twisting over its muscles as it turned its head with manic, unyielding aggression. It didn’t seem to feel fear and didn’t care about the internal damage Adara had just delivered. It lunged again, snapping its massive locking jaws directly at her midsection.
Adara drew her training weapon—a heavy, reinforced wooden staff she had brought from the grounds. As the beast’s jaws slammed shut, she jammed the solid oak staff vertically into its maw. Since the attack happened so fast, she did not have time to even gather her weapons, so she grabbed the closest possible thing. And until now, she hasn’t even really used the staff either. For Red-tier beasts, she could deal with them bare-handed, even if she thought it was crude.
Snap!
The Gore Broc’s peg-like teeth clamped down on the wood with terrifying force. True to its nature, its jaw mechanically locked in place, crushing the thick oak into splinters—but the staff held its mouth open just enough, stripping the beast of its primary weapon.
’Gore Broc’s have poor upward visibility, due to their posture their eyes are mostly fixed to what is below rather than above.’ Adara recounted the information about the beasts. It was widely known that the Gore Broc’s, although powerful, had very prominent weaknesses, more so than most beasts.
