Chapter 31: 31. The patriach is heavily injured and needs rest.
The moment Lin Xuan and Lin Zhaoyue stepped through the gates of the Lin Estate, several servants immediately noticed their arrival.
News of the Patriarch’s return spread quickly throughout the estate, though nobody dared approach too closely while he was carrying the young girl in his arms.
Meanwhile, Lin Xuan looked toward the little girl in his arms and whispered softly into her ears,"Zhaoyue, I think you should run back to your chamber before Nanny Liu finds you."
Lin Zhaoyue immediately became alert.
The relaxed expression on her face vanished completely as she asked in a somewhat dissapointed tone,"Father, why would you remind me of her?"
Lin Xuan grinned, "I am simply warning you."
Lin Zhaoyue sighed as she saw her father’s expression. "Nanny Liu is very kind however, she never listens to me."
The little girl looked up hopefully.
"Father, can you please talk to her for me?"
A familiar voice suddenly sounded from behind them.
"Young Miss is too kind."
Both father and daughter stiffened.
Nanny Liu smiled warmly while standing several steps away.
"Asking your father to give me a raise is unnecessary."
She waved her hand dismissively.
"It is perfectly fine. I do not even have grandchildren to leave my wealth to."
Before Lin Zhaoyue could react, the elderly woman smoothly lifted her into the air.
"Ah, Nanny." Lin Zhaoyue asked politely, "Can I walk?"
Nanny Liu nodded.
"Of course you can."
The little girl’s eyes brightened.
"Really?"
"I don’t see why not. You have two perfectly healthy legs."
Lin Zhaoyue immediately pointed downward.
"Uh, I mean can you let me walk on the ground?"
Nanny Liu looked puzzled.
"I do not understand."
The old woman glanced toward the sky.
"I see no reason why Young Miss would want to walk in the air."
She then pointed toward Lin Xuan.
"I am sure your father can do that. However, for now, Young Miss should return and get some sleep."
Lin Zhaoyue immediately looked toward Lin Xuan for help only to find her father grinning at her situation.
The little girl felt wronged.
Several moments later, she disappeared around a corner while continuing her hopeless attempts at convincing her Nanny to let her walk.
Lin Xuan watched the entire scene with great satisfaction, only after they dissapeared from his sight did he finally turned and headed toward his residence.
On the way back, Lin Xuan’s thoughts drifted naturally towards Bong Haoran.
After all, everyone in the Lin family knew about the bounty he had placed and that he had went to the Zhao family.
Should he tell everyone that Bong Haoran escaped?
The idea sounded reasonable enough.
After all, Bong Haoran was supposedly an elder of the Mystic Sky Sect. Claiming to have killed him would only create endless trouble.
He could even fake a few injuries and enter seclusion for a month.
That way, nobody would question his story.
After all, the corpse of Bong Haoran had disintegrated
Nobody could prove Bong Haoran was dead.
Lin Xuan’s eyes immediately brightened.
This was perfect.
With a smile on his face, he continued toward his residence.
His mood remained excellent until he stepped into his private chamber as he noticed an elderly woman cheerfully boiling tea.
Lin Xuan immediately became cautious.
" Elder Su. What are you doing here?"
Su Qinglan smiled pleasantly.
"The Supreme Elder confiscated the reward you gave to Zhaohao."
Lin Xuan stopped walking and watched Su Qinglan calmly poured tea.
"He claimed that rewards earned by clan members belong to the clan."
Lin Xuan slowly closed his eyes.
Of course. Who else could it be?
Su Qinglan gestured toward the chair across from her.
"Please, take a seat. The tea will be ready shortly."
Lin Xuan nodded and sat down by the table.
A moment later, Su Qinglan walked over carrying two cups. She took the seat opposite him and offered one of them to him.
Lin Xuan accepted the cup with a slight nod.
"Elder Su. Do you have any suggestions?"
Su Qinglan considered the question briefly.
"Not particularly."
Then a faint smile appeared on her face.
"However, I do intend to make his life extremely unpleasant."
Lin Xuan paused midway through a sip.
"How?"
"I intend to mobilize my authority as Clan Treasurer." freewebnøvel.coɱ
Lin Xuan looked genuinely surprised and then he slowly lowered his teacup.
"What’s stopping you?"
Su Qinglan looked at him.
She did not say a word, yet that alone was enough.
Lin Xuan stared back at her and then understanding dawned upon him.
"Oh."
Without another word, he reached into his storage pouch and tossed the remaining nine hundred Body Tempering Pills onto the table.
"Elder Su. Take these and tell the people to stop looking into Bong Haoran, also you saw my condition today."
Su Qinglan nodded, albeit a bit confused.
Lin Xuan leaned back in his chair and spoke with complete seriousness.
"I suffered a very severe injuries during my battle against Bong Haoran but unluckily Bong Haoran escaped after we exchanged fatal blows so I will not be able to leave seclusion for approximately one month."
Su Qinglan immediately caught on to the implication.
A smile appeared on her face.
"Take three months to recuperate, patriach."
Lin Xuan nearly choked.
"Three months?"
He stared at the old woman in disbelief.
"Elder Su. You are the devil herself."
Su Qinglan’s smile widened.
After a moment, Lin Xuan sighed helplessly.
"Fine, since you asked for it, five months it is."
Su Qinglan nearly choked on her tea before bursting into laughs.
The sound echoed throughout the chamber.
"You want this as much as I do."
Lin Xuan chose not to respond.
Su Qinglan waved her hand and collected the pills.
Then she rose from her seat.
As she reached the doorway, she suddenly paused.
Turning around, she looked at him and smiled.
"Thank you, Little Xuan."
Lin Xuan waved dismissively.
"I am severely injured, don’t talk to me as I will be recovering for five months."
Su Qinglan laughed once more before finally leaving the chamber.
