Chapter 50: Off To Lumiel

I gave it a day or two since Amelia really did need some more training before we reach Lumiel. It would’ve been dumb to just push forward without giving her a chance to learn anything else.

Luckily Lia has been handling a lot of her training which makes it a bit easier for her to learn.

I’d say today is probably the time to leave though. A lot happens the more time passes, so I’d rather not push it too much. I look towards the girls and give a gesture for them to come.

"It probably is about time we get moving," Lia says while putting her sword back in its sheathe.

"At least Amelia got some more experience," Morrigan responds with a casual tone.

"I’d say she is definitely ready for a fight now, more than before at least. It’ll still be a challenge but I think she’ll pull through," Lia says with confidence.

"That’s what matters. She’ll pull through somehow," I chime in while walking.

"Just don’t leave her hanging too long," Lia says.

"I wouldn’t do such a thing," I assure her.

Honestly I don’t plan on leaving any of them hanging too long when it comes down to our encounter with the hunters ahead. We’ll just have to see what happens.

Lumiel is bound to be full of surprises, especially when it comes down to hunters. I’m sure there will be more than enough of them to give us a problem. freewebnovёl.ƈom

This would be the definition of charging into hell, I believe that’s the way humans refer to it.

Our walk towards Lumiel continues peacefully for quite some time, nothing really happening along the way. The girls all talk amongst each other as I continue to keep an eye on everything.

Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary as we make our way through the last bit of the Yami Forest.

I truly will miss this place as it was probably one of the most peaceful areas I’ve ever gone through. Then again, it is quite odd how peaceful it is too. freёwebnovel.com

The opening in the distance told me that we are definitely just about out of here, but somehow we aren’t even close to reaching Lumiel.

One look at the map would tell you that instantly.

"I’m going to miss the Yami Forest," Lia speaks up with some sadness in her voice.

"I think we all will," I respond with a soft tone.

The Yami Forest was definitely the peace we needed before going back into this gruesome battle against the hunters. I know it’ll only be bloody from here.

I can’t even guarantee that I’ll be able to take Lumiel down when we do arrive. I did get this strength from the heart but I don’t know how strong the hunters are.

It varies so much between each one that I have no idea what to expect from any of them.

But I do have confidence that I’ll be able to make a difference here somehow. It won’t do my family any justice if I die before even making a dent in the damn hunters.

Lukas could’ve helped with all this but I can’t blame him for going to meet with Dad. It is smarter in the grand scheme of things.

Just there isn’t a lot of time to waste since the hunters are actively making moves throughout the world. After they took Ariel it set the tone for what’s to come.

There’s still hope for Remi to be alive out there somewhere though, that I’m sure of.

"Dante did you think about how we’re going to cross?" Lia asks with curiosity.

"What do you mean?" I question with a bit of confusion.

"Lumiel is surrounded by water and I believe you can enter by the bridge or by hitching a ride on a boat," Lia answers while scratching her head.

"That’ll be something we figure out when we reach the outskirts of Lumiel," I say while continuing forward.

I completely forgot that Lumiel is surrounded by water with only two ways to really enter the capital. One by boat and the other by getting permission to cross the bridge.

Lumiel is definitely quite strict with both right now since they are at war... But that doesn’t mean we can’t find a way in.

We just have to get lucky enough to run into a traveling merchant or something along those lines and it’ll work out great. I do remember seeing quite a few of them outside of Ariel so I believe they’ll be outside Lumiel too.

And if we do miss them, we’ll have to improvise.

[Hours Later]

"What are you hoping to see when we arrive?" Morrigan asks openly for anyone to answer.

"To see the water for the first time. I’ve hardly ever left my home so it would be nice," Amelia answers first.

"Probably the architecture itself would be nice to see. Elves did help build Lumiel alongside the humans," Lia answers next.

"Honestly I don’t know what I’d want to see. Everything has been new for me... Plus this is enemy territory so it is even less exciting for me," I respond while placing my hands in my pockets.

"Well, I’m excited to see what kind of people reside in Lumiel besides the hunters," Morrigan says with a cheerful tone.

"That is true! There are bound to be lots of people besides the hunters there!" Amelia replies with excitement.

I’m glad they all have something they are looking forward to seeing in Lumiel that isn’t related to our battle with the hunters. It helps ease the mind a bit I guess.

So I’ll have to thank Morrigan for that later, but I doubt it was anything intentional. She was probably just curious if anyone had anything they wanted to see.

What would I want to see in Lumiel? Maybe the variety of people that exist?

I don’t really know. I saw a lot of different races of people back in Ariel so I don’t think it would be that new. Maybe some of the shops could be different there.

That is a potential option for me to see when we do arrive there.

Do I have the money to spend there if I do find anything interesting? Wait, I think I have some I can use... Probably.

The rest of the walk goes peacefully as we finally start to reach the "outskirts" of Lumiel.

I can see the distant shore where some ships appear to be sailing towards the capital but other than that it is still a bit of a walk. The path is a lot more clear now at least.

The smell of the water is definitely different... I guess that’s what the ocean water is like. Kind of hard to miss it with such a strong sense of smell.

"Lumiel is closer then expected," Morrigan says with a bit of shock in her voice.

"We’re still on the outskirts so it’ll be a decent walk," Lia chimes in.

"The path seems pretty straightforward, no?" I question.

"A look can be quite deceiving. Let’s just keep going for the time being," Lia responds.

I’m not entirely sure I understand what she’s talking about at the moment but I guess looks really can be quite deceiving. Maybe it looks a certain way to us but is a lot more treacherous?

I don’t really have a clue on that one. The path looks normal and it just seems to lead all the way up to the capital.

That is what I thought until I heard something roar as it flies above us, large green scales that are hard to miss, giant wings flapping in the sky, and of course the long tail following behind it.

A damn dragon is actually flying around Lumiel? It appears to be flying in a specific routine.

It goes all the way to a distant tower on the eastern side, then quickly does a sweep over the path in the center before finally stopping at another tower on the west side.

I’ve never seen a dragon until now but they are definitely a lot bigger than I expected. Even with the dragon like powers I possess... This might be quite a challenge if we have to fight it for any reason whatsoever.

If possible, I’d like to avoid that at all costs. Fighting a dragon before going in to fight hunters sounds like a major pain in the ass.

I also feel like the dragon will enter the capital of a major threat appears anyway. What is the best course of action here? Fighting the dragon in the outskirts is dumb.

"Dante what are we going to do here?" Amelia asks with some worry in her voice.

"It probably can sense threats, that’d be my guess. So let’s do our best to avoid being considered a threat," I respond while continuing forward.

I’d expect a dragon to be able to sense if we are a threat so we’ll have to do our best not to be seen as one. Time to ignore my bad intentions towards the hunters there.
