Chapter 189: The Dungeon Raid [2]: An A-Rank Stone Knight
The stone knight that had attacked slowly lifted its stone sword from the ground, rested it on its shoulder, and looked ahead.
Conan’s eyes were wide open as he realized how close he had been to losing his head. His shirt’s collar was in Adrian’s hand after being pulled from the attack’s path by him.
"Are you okay?" Adrian looked down at Conan, who simply nodded, before they both looked towards the stone knight before them.
Unlike the previous floors, there was only a single stone knight before them, but from what they could sense,
This one was a lot more dangerous.
Conan’s scanner revealed that it, unlike the others on the previous floors, was an A-Rank.
"Can you still handle it?" Adrian asked.
"Yeah," Conan answered as he stood up, starting, "it just caught me off guard."
Adrian let go of his collar and stepped back as he watched the kid switch from ice to flame module, his hair turning from white to red.
The flames he was using were the same he had copied from Darius, in other words, Dragon Flames.
Though this would quickly burn through his mana, it was also the element that would end this quickly.
The knight looked at Conan’s arms, enveloped by flames, before it leaned forward and the next second,
It disappeared.
The stone knight reappeared directly in front of Conan, already swinging its sword towards his head again.
But this time, Conan met its attack head-on with his fists covered in flames, and the shockwave launched the two back.
But Conan had a smile on his face as the property of dragon flames activated.
The knight looked down at its sword, noticing that the flames were slowly wrapping around it, using its very own mana as fuel.
Unlike what Conan expected, the stone knight didn’t just drop the sword; instead, it suddenly lifted it, pulled it back, and hurled it at him as if it were a javelin.
He was forced to dodge to the side, but before he could turn back towards the stone knight, it was already before him again.
Conan crossed both arms before him as the golem’s fist slammed into them, launching him backwards, into a wall, kicking up a dust cloud.
The stone knight didn’t let up, as it launched itself towards the dust cloud, but before it could reach its target, a flame dragon suddenly exited the dust cloud and slammed into it.
The stone knight was launched several meters backwards, as the dust cloud settled, revealing Conan, who was wiping the blood off his lips.
That attack had hurt a lot more than he had expected and had forced him to use an attack that quickly burnt through his mana.
So he probably wouldn’t be able to handle the remaining two floors if the stone knights there were as strong as this one.
Still, he intended to take care of this one on his own, even if he had to burn through his mana for that.
Adrian and Noctis focused on the exchange after they had successfully retrieved all the magic tools on this floor.
«It doesn’t seem the kid can hold on for much longer,» the cat commented, noticing the amount of mana from Conan. «Will you give him a hand?»
"He should be able to handle this one," Adrian said as he shook his head, "but that’ll probably be his limit for now."
Alvíss had designed the Nexus core to hold as much mana as possible, but the red dragon’s flames were burning through all that mana.
There was also the fact that he had been using said mana for the past three floors, so it made sense that he was running low on mana.
Speaking of low mana, Conan, certain that Adrian would handle the rest of the floors, suddenly activated his elemental fusion ability.
If he was going to burn through his mana, he might just go all the way with it.
The knight recovered from the previous attack only to see two flame dragons coated in lightning headed towards it. freёwebnovel.com
The stone knight wasn’t allowed enough time to dodge before the attack landed,
BOOM!
The entire chamber they were in trembled as the attack landed, and an electrically charged smoke cloud enveloped where the knight had previously stood.
Conan still had his guard up as he watched the smoke settle, revealing the aftermath of the attack.
A large crater had been formed where the stone knight was previously standing, but the knight’s form was nowhere to be seen as it had been reduced to rubble.
Conan finally let out an exhausted sigh before turning towards Adrian, who was walking towards him.
"Well done," the butler said as he looked at the rubble that was the former stone knight before asking, "Do you still think you can go on?"
Conan thought of it for a while. On one hand, his mana reserves were almost empty; on the other, the fact that Isla and Alvíss were still watching him remained.
Adrian looked as the kid struggled to come to a decision before he let out a sigh and decided to help him come to one. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"I’m sure Alvíss is already more than impressed with your performance so far,’ he said, "and I’m certain that Isla also is."
Conan was silent for a while before saying, "And you?"
"Were you impressed with the investment you made?"
Adrian looked at him and then nodded, "I am."
Conan stared at Adrian for a few seconds before a grin slowly appeared on his face.
"That’s enough for me."
The exhaustion weighing down his body suddenly didn’t feel as bad anymore. He then let out a sigh and added, "Using that much mana really was a bad idea."
Adrian chuckled before walking past him and saying, "Let’s head to the next floor."
"Right," Conan nodded and immediately followed behind.
Although he was exhausted, it didn’t mean that he got to stay behind.
Besides, who would search for the magic tools whilst Adrian handled the obstacles of the floor?
They reached the stone door, placed a hand on it and again, a glow enveloped them and the next second,
They disappeared.
