Chapter 152: The Founder Needs Rescuing?

"My lady?" Adrian muttered with a satisfied smile on his face.

But the next second, all the power that filled him suddenly faded, and he found himself plummeting towards the ground as his wings faded.

"Huh?" It was the last thing he said before his consciousness completely faded.

Renelle’s eyes widened as she saw this, and before her brain could fully process everything, her body had already moved towards him.

She caught him.

Not gracefully, of course, after all, he was a dead weight, moving fast, and her mana reserves were almost completely spent.

Still, she got her arms around him before he hit the ground and the impact drove her to one knee on the temple floor, causing the stone to crack beneath them from the force of it.

She stayed there for a moment, before looking down at him.

Adrian was completely unconscious with his full weight against her, and now that he was up close, she was given a first-hand view of the damage done to him.

His broken limbs had reverted to that state, so had his ribs, and there was also blood trailing down his face.

Fortunately, he was still alive. freewebnovel.cσ๓

"Adrian?" She softly called out as she readjusted him, placing his head on her lap, but no response came from him.

Renelle then looked up at the stars again before chuckling, "They’re beautiful."

She had only mentioned that the skies would be beautiful with stars in passing and yet, he had fulfilled it.

The same day, to the booth.

The temple started rumbling again causing Renelle to glance behind her and notice what was happening.

The ice encasing the guardian statue had started breaking, but unlike what she expected, it wasn’t freed.

Instead, only its sword was, and the next second, it started producing a golden light as a tear in space appeared a bit ahead of it.

Out of the tear came a man that Renelle immediately recognized,

"The founder?" She wasn’t the one who had spoken, instead, the voice sounded like a groan and it came from the previously unconscious Adrian.

Renelle’s attention was pulled towards him and she realized that his eyes were now open.

"Adrian," She called out again, her eyes full of relief.

"I’m fine, my lady," that was very visibly a lie, but she didn’t comment on that.

Instead, the one who spoke up was the founder as he muttered, "Ah, the bliss of young love, you two have truly grown so ce we last met."

Due to the fact that he seemed translucent, just as he had been in his own dungeon, the two realized that this was also a clone that existed only in this specific point in time.

"You could’ve at least lent a hand," Renelle said with a frown as she looked at him.

"And steal the chance for you two to grow?" The founder asked, a smile still on his face.

"Besides, I was the one that setup this test," he added, "so why would I want to interfere?"

"..."

The two were silent at his words, but he suddenly chuckled and started walking close to them, "but allow me to still apologize."

He stopped next to the two who were keeping an eye on him and lifted his palm towards Adrian before asking, "May I ?"

Renelle was a little suspicious, but in the end, she just nodded, after all, if someone like the founder wanted to hurt them, he’d have already done so.

Adrian said nothing, instead, he just watched as the Founder’s palm glowed and in turn, his own body.

[Reversal]

He felt as if time was being reversed on his body...which was essentially what was happening.

In just a few minutes, all the broken bones within his body had reverted to their normal state.

"There we go," the Founder muttered before stepping back with a smile on his face.

Adrian then slowly lifted his head from Renelle’s lap and stood up, also offering her a hand up.

"Thanks," he said, looking at the founder who just waved his hand in dismissal.

"As I said," the founder muttered, "that’s my apology for putting you kids against something beyond what you could currently handle."

Adrian looked down at his hand, observing that the pain truly was completely gone....though he wasn’t too surprised, after all, the founder was one of the strongest beings in Avera.

And according to Avera herself, one of the four shards that made up the world, in other words, Noctis’ pieces.

The founder placed a hand on his chin as he looked toward the Oroborus mark hidden beneath his clothes and his smile widened slightly.

"It really as I saw," he muttered, "you absorbed it."

Adrian looked down at his chest before asking, "You know about this?"

"Of course I do," the founder answered casually, "when you live as long as I have, you tend to know a lot of things."

"Like the fact that you’ve already met mother," he continued, "and that you’re currently in search of the four shards....shards that’ll only awaken and reveal themselves after you absorb mine."

"...." Adrian silently looked at the old man before letting out a sigh and nodding, "You’re right, I’ve already met Avera and she said I need the shards to prepare for what’s coming."

"Indeed," the founder nodded, "I could hand it to you, unfortunately, the real me is currently indisposed and in need of a little rescuing."

"...."

Both Adrian and Renelle looked at him with a blank expression, their thoughts very visible on their blank faces.

The founder... One of Avera’s strongest.... Needed rescuing?

That made zero sense.

"Don’t look at me like that okay," the old man muttered, "I’m just stuck within a dungeon of my design thanks to the corruption seeping in."

"And you created no failsafe?" Renelle muttered in question.

"Unfortunately," he shook his head.

The butler and his lady remained silent for a while before Adrian broke the silence and said, "Fine."

"Great," the founder muttered, "though I must warn you, you must be a lot stronger than you currently are."

With that, he faded.

"He.... didn’t tell us where the dungeon was," Renelle muttered with a blank expression before Adrian chuckled.

He then looked ahead, at the tear in space before muttering, "I guess that’s our way out of here."
