Chapter 203: Judgement
The knightess and the princess had never been on the best of terms. But they had met each other on multiple occasions. After all, they were love rivals at one point as well.
Without much thought, Sierra embraced Felicity in a hug. The former princess struggled at first, but eventually, she quietened down as tears continued to flow from her eyes.
"You’re safe now, Felicity. You’re safe now," Sierra said reassuringly over and over again.
"No one will hurt you. I won’t let anyone hurt you ever again," she continued to reassure her.
The moment Felicity heard those words, she cried even harder. Sierra draped her jacket over Felicity. Now that they were face to face, Sierra could see all the injuries she had suffered with great clarity.
A blazing fire was beginning to grow inside of her. Eventually, Felicity calmed down. She wanted to tell Sierra something, something important but could not seem to bring herself to do so.
"You don’t have to say anything, for now, Felicity," Sierra said to her, "Lady Linette, will take care of you. I... will take care of the rest."
"You’ll... you’ll take care of it?" Felicity croaked.
Sierra nodded, "You have my word. I’ll take care of everything."
She glanced towards the door for just a moment, looking at the men who’d been cuffed and lined up outside.
"I’ll make sure they pay for what they’ve done. You’ll never have to see them ever again. They will never hurt you ever again." She promised Felicity.
"What about... Cedric?" She asked.
"He ran. But I will get him," Sierra said coldly, "And when I do, he will never see the light of day ever again."
Felicity nodded slowly. Sierra and Felicity shared a second embrace before Lady Linette came over to take care of the former princess. A series of maids entered the room shortly with clothes for Felicity. Sierra left her in Linette’s care before heading out of the room to deal with those who’d been cuffed and kept on watch outside.
Alistair followed right behind her.
’Cutting off their heads is too easy on them,’ Opal’s voice hissed in Sierra’s mind.
’I agree with you on that front,’ Sierra replied to her through telepathy.
"I want them closely watched in the dungeons. Use any means necessary to get confessions out of all of them. Death would be too easy for them," Sierra declared calmly.
Her cold gaze and stern voice sent shivers down their spines. The soldiers carried out her commands at once without question. Some of them, realizing the seriousness of the situation, started begging for their lives. freeweɓnovel.cøm
Sierra’s right hand was shaking. But it wasn’t from fear or anxiety, it was from anger. She tried her best to regulate her breathing as she glared coldly at the men who were now clawing at her, attempting to reason their actions and clear their names of any wrongdoing.
Sabotaged.
Following orders.
Forced.
Those were just some of the words they were using to reason their actions as they pleaded for Sierra to have mercy on them. One of the men even had the audacity to use his higher status as a reason, claiming Sierra had no right to send him to the dungeon.
Alistair was standing close to Sierra as he watched the men cower at his sweetling’s feet. If it had been up to him, he would have done things a little differently. But this was not his battle. It was not his place to do anything on her behalf.
He was here for her.
So instead, Alistair reached out for Sierra’s hand, hoping his support and presence could bring her some calm. He hoped that he would be able to give her the strength to make the decision she wanted to make.
With his hand on hers, she was no longer shaking. Sierra turned back, looking back into the room. In the distance, she could see Lady Linette and some maids doing their best to help and keep Felicity calm. The poor woman was still shaking.
"My love," Sierra turned to face Alistair.
"Yes?"
"Can you close the door for me?" She asked him calmly, signaling to the room door.
"Of course."
Alistair did as she asked. As soon as the door closed. Sierra turned back around to face the man who was groveling at her feet. The look in her eyes changed as she curled her hand into a fist.
Sierra grabbed the man by his shoulder and punched him square across the face. Those who’d been groveling or yelling at her just moments before all fell silent as they watched on in horror.
Alistair was a little stunned by her actions but did not say anything. He stood there in support of her. The man who’d been punched was in shock. He tried defending himself but he was powerless against her.
Opal had slithered off her wrist and coiled loosely around her neck instead. Not wanting her to lose herself in the frenzy, Opal chimed in her mind.
’Sierra, he deserves... something else.’
Blood trickled down Sierra’s knuckles. Her skin was bruised but the blood was not hers. It was from the man. She did not care for it. She released the man from her grasp, allowing him to fall to the ground on his side.
The man covered his face in agony and tears, begging for her mercy.
"Did you give her mercy when she begged any of you?" She asked him coldly before looking at the others and yelling, "Did any of you realize what you’ve done?!"
All of them looked down at the ground. No one could look Sierra in the eye. Perhaps now, they were beginning to understand the harm their actions had caused.
"Each and every one of you will confess to your crimes and receive the punishment you deserve," she declared, "Don’t even think for a second that death is the ultimate punishment. I’ll not let any of you go so easily."
Sierra looked over to the soldiers, "Get them out of my sight. I want them tortured until they confess and they are to be kept alive and await punishment at all costs. Is that clear?"
All the soldiers stood at attention and saluted Sierra, signaling that her commands had been received. They did as she asked, quickly removing the men from her sight. Alistair picked up Sierra’s hand, the one which was now lightly bruised and covered in blood. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
He used a handkerchief to clean off the blood stains before blowing on it gently, hoping the bruising would lighten soon.
"Does it still hurt?" He asked gently as he carefully massages her knuckles.
Her steel cold expression instantly dissipated when she turned to reply to him softly, "Not anymore."
