Chapter 166: Farewell, For Now
She guided them down a hallway and entered the second one on the right. Upon entering, Sierra gasped in amazement. The decor in the blacksmithing workshop was what she was used to.
There was a whole array of equipment ready for her to use, along with raw materials placed neatly in stacks in the corner.
Her heart was pounding in her chest, she was ready to start. Vy remained to assist as much as she could. She also wanted to see if there was anything Sierra could teach her.
Forging an item from scratch was no easy task and the process would take days, it could not be done in a day. So for the next few days, Sierra was hard at work. She only took a minimum amount of breaks.
She didn’t want to impose on Vy anymore than she already had.
Not to mention, she was beginning to miss Alistair.
On the final day, Sierra made the finishing touches. When she was done, she took a step back and admired her work.
It was perfect.
"It’s done?" Vy asked quietly, but it was clear her voice was filled with anticipation.
"Yes," Sierra beamed with pride.
Dygo was standing at the door, leaning on the door frame looking in. He could see the item Sierra had forged from where he stood. It looked amazing.
Sierra could not wait for Alistair to see it. She picked it up with both hands, feeling the weight of it, making sure it was balanced. She made sure everything was perfect. She placed it back down and pursed her lips.
Sierra furrowed her eyebrows, deep in thought. Vy noticed the change in her expressions instantly. Over the time they had spent together, she had come to better understand her.
"Something’s wrong. You have that look on your face," Vy said point-blank.
"What? What look?"
Dygo entered the blacksmith workshop. He walked over to Vy’s side and glanced over to Sierra as he leaned his elbow on Vy’s shoulder.
"She’s right. You have that look on your face. Did it not come out like how you want it to be?" Dygo chimed in.
"What, no, it’s perfect. I just...," she was a little embarrassed to admit it.
"What is it?" Vy asked, her voice filling with concern.
Sierra brought her hands up and covered her face, "I don’t have a way to transport it back to Drakin."
Vy and Dygo looked at one another. They burst out laughing. Sierra, not understanding what was so funny about it, looked confused.
"That’s what you were worried about? Gosh for a moment I thought it was something horrible," Vy mused.
She reassured Sierra that they had a solution for that. After all, they would be sending her back to Drakin. They could not possibly leave her to return on her own. After all, they were currently in a location that was thousands of miles away. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Vy explained that she need not fret over it.
"We’ll take care of it. Fret not," Vy reassured her, "You just need to focus on having fun while you’re here. After all, you’re going to be cooped up in that castle once you return."
The smile Sierra had just moments ago quickly faded away. She had not considered what life would be like after she became Alistair’s paramount. Thinking back to how much her life had changed in the last few months, a stone dropped in her heart.
Sierra took a seat on the nearby bench, her mind was a million miles away.
"I’m sorry, did I offend you. I didn’t mean to, Sierra. I apologize, sometimes I don’t think very much before I speak."
"No, it’s quite alright. I appreciate your honesty, Vy. I just... it never occurred to me that I was losing my freedom..." Sierra paused as she looked down at her feet.
Vy glanced over to Dygo, uncertain of what words to say to help her feel better. Dygo didn’t know either. Neither of them had similar experiences for them to relate to what Sierra was going through.
"You don’t have to stop being you, Sierra," Vy reminded her as she took a seat next to her. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
She placed her hand on hers reassuringly as she continued, "I don’t think Alistair would want you to stop being yourself either. Sure, Vargos castle would become your new home, but that doesn’t change who you truly are."
She turned to Sierra and placed her hand on her heart.
"What’s most important is that you know who you are in your heart. As long as you stay true to yourself, it doesn’t matter where you live," Vy added.
Sierra gave her a sweet smile, "You always seem to have the best advice."
Vy chuckled, "It’s a gift that comes with age."
Despite how much fun they were having, eventually, it was time for Sierra to return to Drakin. They set off on their journey late in the night, so as to avoid detection. In order to get her back to Drakin as soon as possible, Vy came up with an elegant situation.
"Fly? You’re going to fly me back?" Sierra gasped in shock.
She was blessed by the dragon Dravin, so she had wings of her own but she knew full well they were not going to last her all the way back to Vargos Castle. It would take her days, perhaps even weeks to get back.
"Yes, you can ride on my back," Vy replied nonchalantly as she stretched out her limbs. Dygo and Lycster were there to send her off too.
"You’ll be fine. I’ve ridden on Vy’s back before. It would be the fastest way to travel without using keystone portals." Lycster added.
Dygo nodded, "There aren’t any keystone portals near Drakin either. So this is going to be the only mode of travel you have, Sierra."
Resigning to her fate, Sierra sighed. At the very least, she had some experience flying so she knew it was going to be manageable. With everything packed up and ready to go, Sierra bid everyone farewell, but not before thanking all of them for accommodating her.
