Chapter 158: Dining Hall
"The gift is supposed to be a surprise, is it not? You will find out when the time is right, but don’t get your hopes up," Sierra warned, "I’m not made of gold."
She looked down at her feet as she muttered, "Not like some of the others."
"Sierra," he said softly as he cupped her chin, tilting her face so that their eyes met.
"I don’t need wealth or anything made of gold. What I want," he said carefully as he pointed to her chest, "Is what comes from the heart."
"Really?" She looked at him longingly.
She thought perhaps he was just saying that to make her feel better. Unlike the princesses, who had their royal families to pay for everything, Sierra was the daughter of a general. While they do come from wealth and the Bancroft Family was by no means poor, she knew she could never measure up to the wealth the other princesses had.
"Really, that’s all I want," he reaffirmed his words.
She gave him a smile as she nodded. She already had a gift idea in mind, something that would be truly special. It was going to be a lot of work, but she knew the end result would be beautiful.
With Sierra still pretty much sitting on his lap, she fed him the food that she had brought for him.
"So, how did I get here?" He asked, in between bites.
"I carried you," she replied nonchalantly.
Alistair glared at her in shock. Surely she had to be messing with him? But the look on Sierra’s face said otherwise. She was serious.
"You carried me into the room?" He asked in disbelief.
He could have sworn he heard wrongly.
"Yes," Sierra reiterated again, "Why do you have that look on your face? It’s the same one Vy had when I carried you."
"What? People... people saw it happen?"
"Well, it was just Vy... I think? I wasn’t sure," she replied.
It did not take her long to realize that Alistair was embarrassed. There was a light blush on his cheeks. This made Sierra chuckle. She had not thought much of it when it happened.
Alistair had arrived at Yama Yoma, the hot spring resort they were staying in, sound asleep in the carriage. No one could wake him, or perhaps no one had the heart to do so. He was sleeping so soundly.
Vy and Sierra were in the restaurant having their morning meal when Yoon and Yuna came to inform them of his arrival. Sierra was pleasantly surprised to see him and immediately rushed up to him, only to realize he was sound asleep.
Realizing he must have worked tirelessly to make time for her, she could not bear to wake him up. So, she resolved to carry him to the room so that he could continue to rest.
"Oh heavens," Alistair massaged his temples.
Sierra chuckled as she leaned on his chest, "What’s there to be embarrassed about? No one knows you here anyways, I don’t think anyone knows who we are."
"I guess that’s for the best then," he mused, feeling a little better.
"But I doubt Vy is ever going to let you leave that down," she added with a laugh.
Hoping to put the matter behind them as soon as possible, Alistair decided to change the topic of their discussion.
"Didn’t Vy mention something about lunch just now?"
"Oh yes, she did. Are you still hungry?"
"Starving, I could devour you right now," he teased as he kissed her on the neck, nibbling her soft skin.
Electric jolts shot through Sierra’s body. She could feel the heat in her body rising to the surface. Her cheeks were flushed red too, though she could not see it.
"Devour me? I didn’t know the King of Drakin was a beast," she joked.
"His Majesty can be anything his paramount wants," he whispers seductively in her ear as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Now now, my King, it’s not official just yet," she replied as she turned to face him, "I’m but a humble knightess."
Their faces were barely an inch apart. They could feel the heat of each other’s breath, they could almost hear their heartbeats. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Just then, a soft chime could be heard coming from beyond their room door, echoing in the distance. It was the chime that indicated lunch service had begun.
"Let’s go," Sierra said as she got up to her feet and held out her hand.
"Very well," he sighed, already missing the warmth of her body pressed against his.
"Sweetling," he called out to her as they were about to reach the door.
"Yes?"
"While we’re here, let’s refrain from using our official titles, alright?"
Sierra smiled back at him, "Sure, that’s good with me."
Sierra and Alistair held hands as they made their way toward the food hall. Dygo and Vy were already there at the entrance, waiting for them.
"There they are!" Vy exclaimed as she waved at them as they walked over.
Alistair looked around, he had not seen any of the architecture of the resort when he arrived in the early hours of the morning. He also did not see how the other patrons looked. It soon became clear that not all of them were human.
In fact, humans were the minority.
They entered the food hall together and were quickly shown to a table for the four of them on the balcony. It overlooked the beautiful scenery made up of snow-capped mountains in the distance coupled with lush green forests.
There was no menu to be had and every meal was different. The only constant was the hot green tea that was served to them before the main meal was served.
"Did you get some quality sleep, Alistair?" Vy asked casually, hoping to make conversation.
"Yes, the best I’ve had in a couple of days if I were to be honest."
"Have you had a lot to do? If you’re busy you-"
"It’s all taken care of, don’t worry," Alistair reassured Sierra.
"I think you two could definitely use the break. And if you’re up for it, perhaps we can go for a little hunt," Vy had a glint in her eye as she spoke.
"My dear, I don’t think it would be safe for them to do so," Dygo seemed to be reminding her of something, "The beasts here are... dangerous."
"Oh it would be fine, As long as they all had the right equipment," she replied without much thought.
"I will have to decline, I think something more leisurely would be best for me at the moment. Besides, I won’t be able to stay long," Alistair sighed.
Sierra leaned back in her seat, "You won’t?"
