Chapter 138: Yet Another Has Arrived
She had hoped for one final night of rest before the trial the next day, but Sierra realized quickly she was too naive. Sometime after midnight, she earned herself another guest. She was almost entering deep sleep when the creak of the cell door jolted her awake.
Before she could even open her eyes, Sierra was doused with a pail of ice-cold water. She sat up immediately, quickly realizing who did that to her.
"Well well well, look who do we have here?" It was Princess Agnes, along with two of her servants.
They dumped the pail to the side, and the sound of it hitting the ground echoed throughout the cell. ƒrēewebnovel.com
"You came all this way and you didn’t know who you came to see?" Sierra replied snappily.
Having her sleep ruined annoyed her and she knew exactly why Agnes was here. Since they were no longer cordial, she didn’t have to be either.
Agnes was livid at the way Sierra was speaking to her. She had been waiting for this day for quite some time now. She had always wanted to see the look on Sierra’s face when her world came crumbling down.
She hated the attention King Alistair gave her. She hated how well-loved she was. When she planned the assassination attempt, she had been doing so for quite some time. She didn’t even tell Princess Cassandra about it, especially after their partnership was strained due to the incident during the Archery test.
Agnes walked up to Sierra and kicked her in the abdomen with a wide grin on her face.
Sierra saw the attack coming toward her. Her reflexes begged her to dodge it, but she couldn’t. She had to take the blow. She wanted Agnes to lower her guard, to think Sierra had truly hit rock bottom.
Remembering Vyrena’s advice, she knew she had to exploit the weaknesses of her enemies and keep her calm
Sierra winced in pain as she clutched her abdomen. Her wound was healing but it still hurt more than she had anticipated.
Agnes laughed as she saw the look of pain on Sierra’s face.
"Does it hurt? Cause I sure hope it does," she whispered menacingly to Sierra as she crouched down to meet her at eye level.
Sierra gritted her teeth, reminding herself time and time again to keep her cool. Before she could say anything else, Agnes slapped her across the face. The searing pain on her cheek shook her wide away.
She glared at Agnes, the type of glare she reserved for the enemies she slew. Agnes was surprised by the look in her eyes. She stumbled a few steps backward. Fear crept up from the bottom of her spine. Agnes almost fell, but she had her servants who steadied her.
It took her a few moments to compose herself. She would never forget that look in Sierra’s eyes.
She gripped Sierra by her chin as she tried to muster the same amount of menace that Sierra had. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t.
"I can’t wait to see the look on your face tomorrow when you lose everything," Agnes chuckled as sweat trickled down her forehead.
Her hand was shaking as she pushed Sierra back and got up to her feet. Sierra felt it. She knew she had gotten to Agnes. She could take the humiliation now. For tomorrow, everything will be different.
Though Sierra worried about how the court proceedings would be, she knew one thing was for certain.
Justice will prevail.
"I thought long and hard about who would frame me," Sierra grinned as she looked up at Agnes, who turned to glare at her, "But never would I have thought it would be you. Do you know why?"
"Why?" Agnes mused.
"I never thought you did be smart enough to pull something like this off," Sierra shrugged her shoulders as she lifted her hands in the air.
She looked straight through Agnes as she spoke, savoring the twist in her expression as each word she had spoken sunk into the princess. To the untrained eye, Agnes flew into a rage in less than a second.
But from Sierra’s point of view, everything happened in slow motion. She saw the realization Agnes had. She saw her expression turn from confusion, to realization, to anger. Agnes grabbed her by her clothes and pushed her hard against the wall.
"Is that all the strength that you have, Princess Agnes?"
Sierra’s words brought her back to her senses, she released Sierra and took her step back. She was a princess. There was no need to get her own hands dirty. An evil grin returned to her face as she instructed her servants to do her dirty work instead.
"I may not have it, but they do," she said with a grin.
Sierra knew she had taken things too far. Now, she had to play the victim. The two servants grabbed Sierra by her clothes and began punching and kicking her. She could have taken them down easily, but she knew it would only make things worse for her tomorrow.
Sierra shielded herself as best she could, especially on her abdomen where her wound was. She took the beating without complaint.
Agnes was livid still.
She had pictured things to be completely different from what they were turning out to be. She wanted Sierra to beg for her help, to beg for her to stop. But she never did. It only infuriated her even more.
From her hidden pocket, she took out a whip. Sierra saw it through the beating. Agnes told her servants to step aside, as she took two steps forward as she cracked her whip.
Sierra considered letting her take her hits. But the sound of the cracked whip brought back memories she had buried deep in the back of her mind. About the time she was captured by enemy forces. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
The sound of the whip cutting through the air put her on high alert. Sierra caught it in her hand before it could land on her body. Though she was bitten badly, it was not the worst she had been through. Agnes and the servants were stunned.
"Let go!" Agnes yelled in annoyance as she tried to pull on the whip.
