Chapter 129: Not Like This

"How is she?" He asked nervously as he watched Vy at work.

"She should be fine," Vy said as the green glow slowly diminished.

She looked over to the man she had come with and asked, "Dygo, could you bring me a basin of water?"

Dygo nodded and went to do as she asked. He returned shortly with a basin of water and placed it at her side. Vy dipped her hands into the water to cleanse them before drying them with a towel.

She carefully peeled back the blood-soaked bandages, revealing the stab wound Sierra had suffered. In place of the gash that had been there, the wound had closed. While it was not completely gone from her skin, it looked to have healed over nicely.

"It... it looks like it has been healed," Alistair looked over, stunned, "How can I ever repay you, Miss Blackfire?"

Vy chuckled as she shook her head, "It’s not fully healed just yet, she still needs rest and you’ll need to monitor her. I assume if it disappears fully it would raise more questions for the both of you so I dialed it back a bit."

Alistair thanked her again as he lifted Sierra off the ground. He placed her gently on his bed and tucked her in. He did not care if the blood stains soiled his sheets. He just wanted her to be comfortable.

Vy got up to her feet, Dygo coming to her aid as she steadied herself. The snake-like creature slithered back on her arm. She turned to Alistair.

"Is it safe for me to assume this is the princess who’s stolen his Majesty’s heart?" She asked as she came over to his side.

Alistair gave her a soft smile, "I guess you could say that."

He caressed Sierra’s cheek, watching her chest rise and fall. He kissed the back of her hand before leaving the bed for a moment to speak to Vy and Dygo.

"About the matter I asked..."

Vy stopped Alistair, "Say no further, Your Majesty. Consider it done."

She peered over his shoulder to see Sierra still sound asleep.

"You’ve got a strong one, Your Majesty. It could not have been easy for her to walk around with a wound like that. I hope for both of your sake, things will get better."

With that out of the way, Vy felt like it was time for Dygo and her to take their leave.

"About this..."

Vy shook her head as she chuckled, "You need not say any more, Your Majesty. What happened here, stays in this room. We won’t tell another soul.

As for the Enchanted Book of Truth, I will have it delivered as soon as I can."

"Thank you, Vyrena Blackfire. I..." Alistair glanced over to Sierra for a moment then back at Vyrena, "We are in your debt."

"Let’s not speak of debt," Vy replied with a grin, "I think I’ve benefited the most out of this deal. It’s my pleasure doing business with you, King Alistair."

Just as she was about to take one more step, Vy turned back around. She was intrigued by Sierra, the woman who’d stolen the king’s heart. She wanted to get to know her a little better.

"May I make a request, Your Majesty?" She asked cheekily.

Dygo turned back around, curious to know what his lover had in mind for the king. She enjoyed making deals, that much he knew.

"A request?" Alistair echoed her words in confusion, uncertain of what he could offer her.

Vy glanced over to Sierra again, then back at Alistair. He had told her and Dygo about what transpired recently, which led to this very moment. Vyrena felt like she could understand the position Sierra was in.

Once upon a time, she too was framed for crimes she did not commit. She knew what the struggle was like, trying to explain yourself to the world with no one to support you.

Vy knew from the situation that the King’s hands were tied. From what she’s heard so far, it would be difficult for the princess to garner support from friends either. Everyone’s put in a tough spot.

"Having a friend is important in such a situation," she muttered to herself before explaining to Alistair her deal. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"I would like to meet and speak with Princess Sierra when she wakes up. I think I’ll be able to help her with her... situation. I’ve been in a similar situation before. A word of advice could help her reach the outcome she desires."

"A similar situation?"

Dygo stepped forward to explain on Vy’s behalf.

"Ah, I see. Very well, consider it granted. I’ll arrange accommodation for you and Dygo in the castle," Alistair added.

"In the castle? That would be much appreciated, thank you, Your Majesty," Vy replied with a smile.

With that, the guests left the room. Alistair was careful to ensure no one could see into his room. He peered out of his room and informed the guards that he was not to be disturbed by anyone, unless there was an emergency.

Once he closed the doors, he heaved a sigh of relief.

"Shadow guards," he called out to his trusty soldiers.

"We’re at your disposal, Your Majesty," two guards came forward from the shadows to receive their orders.

"Clean up any blood trail you spot that leads to the King’s Quarters," he instructed them without looking back, "No one can know Sierra is here."

"As you wish, Your Majesty."

With the orders received, the shadow guards retreated back into the darkness and disappeared shortly after. Alistair sighed as he turned his attention back to Sierra. He tucked some of the loose strands of her hair behind her ear.

He held onto her hand and kissed he gently before bringing it close to his cheek to feel the warmth of her skin.

"I want you close, Sweetling. But not like this..." Alistair sighed as he looked on at her sleeping form.
