Chapter 2267: Traps and Secrets
Wu Kong’s name was very high up on the Dao bounty list. It only made sense, for he did not shy from stealing from even other Dao Lords. Despite his wanted status, however, no one actually went and tried to capture him - not even the Sage races.
The reason was simple - he had something that not even the Sage races could get easily, and something they could only covet in their hearts: a Major Dao Even the Phantasm Leviathan race - a race where nearly every existing member was a Dao Lord - had only one member with a Major Dao!
In the universe, the Dao Lord was the highest cultivation level it could naturally support - much in the same way that the Origin realm could naturally only support peak Celestial Immortals. So in the universe there were Dao Lords, and among them there existed those who stood as lords above even their peers.
It was easy to look up at people like Eclipse and claim that they were the best, but such things were too far removed from most. Beings and entities similar to her were the stuff of legend, so who then ruled the actual universe? There had not been a single new Dao Lord with a Unique Dao in too long - not that having a Unique Dao automatically guaranteed great strength. Thus, it was those rare, noble few with Major Daos.
Now, two such entities finally clashed.
In the Wu Kong hand, it looked like a spear. In Erlang’s hand, it looked like a halberd. To the universe, they were both creation and destruction, both life and death, both beauty and hideousness. When they clashed the ruling laws of the universe unraveled, like dandelions caught in a hurricane.
Reality itself became unwritten, and was then reforged in the shape that the two Daos desired. The clash led to an incomprehensible, inconceivable insanity which was the true origin of the Cthulhu race. Dreams became nightmares, and nightmares became reality, only so that it could be decimated under the power of their clash... and yet, the Dream realm contained it all without a problem.
"Erlang, this is your last. Damn! Warning!" Wu Kong roared as both of them were pushed back. The clash had, somehow, eradicated the clothes Wu Kong was wearing, and replaced them with a red armor with silver designs on it, alongside a helmet that looked almost like a crown.
Erlang did not respond, which infuriated Wu Kong even more.
"Don’t say I didn’t warn you," he suddenly whispered before his body suddenly gained the status and identity of a Primordial.
They clashed again, and though Erlang remained mostly unharmed, the observing Zai race who were far off suffered, even though they weren’t the ones fighting.
Erlang’s eyes widened as he realized that the monkey had stolen something from him - his third eye! Moreover, he did not use his Dao to steal it. No, he reached into his forehead and plucked it out of his bare hands, injuring him!
A raging anger filled his chest as his, tinged with a hint of shame.
"DIE YOU DAMN MONKEY!" he roared, his voice alone causing the Dream realm to tremble as he unleashed his power with regard.
Wu Kong did not bother responding, and instead continued to attack him. Since Erlang was intent on being unreasonable, then there was no reason for him to hold back either.
Just as Erland had been injured by Wu Kong, soon Wu Kong suffered an injury from Erlang. It seemed the idiot had not been wasting his time, and had learned a few tricks since their last match.
Far off, the members of the Zai race all trembled as they struggled to resist the radiation from Wu Kong and Erlang’s fight. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"They’ve begun. Start the ritual," said one one of them, even as he resisted the shock and damage to his own Dao even from this distance.
The other two did not waste any time, and started. Wu Kong was right - this was a conspiracy, but what he had not realized was that he wasn’t the only one being targeted, Erlang was as well.
Since Wu Kong found him to be annoying, those with weaker Daos found his incessant morality even more frustrating. Normally they couldn’t do much to him, but it wasn’t as if Dao Lords would just give up because they only had Minor Daos.
The universe was vast, and there were numerous ways of achieving certain goals. If enough Dao Lords worked together, even Minor Daos could overcome Major ones.
Of course, in this case, three Dao Lords was far from enough to face even one of them let alone two. That’s why they never planned on fighting them to begin with.
The ritual began, powered by three Zai Dao Lords, reversing the radiation released from the fight and tracing it back to the source. Bit by bit, drop by drop, empowered by mysterious, sacred ritual, the Zai were able to achieve something they normally never should have been able to do.
They managed to peek inside the minds of both Dao Lords.
Wu Kong and Erlang stopped the fight instantly, but it was too late. Whoever was behind the Zai, orchestrating their actions, had prepared well enough. The moment they achieved their goals, they were already pulled away, far out of reach of both Wu Kong and Erlang. freewebnøvel.com
In the midst of the fight, they had leveraged their weakened state to steal some secrets from both of them.
Wu Kong could not help but raise his guard. Had they managed to learn about the altar?
Anger and frustration filled him, and he looked at Erlang with even more hate!
Their fight resumed, though Erlang had realized the cost of his mistake. He had truly been a fool, for his secrets were not something that should be revealed to the universe.
Far away from them, within the Dream realm, an entity shrouded in mist, its figure completely hidden, looked at his harvest. Only one secret had been stolen from both of them.
Erlang’s secret was about the location for where he had sealed the Dao weapon Hell’s Gauntlet. Such a secret harvested from Erlang made sense.
Wu Kong’s secret, however, was a little unexpected. The Innkeeper was, in fact, not inside the Midnight Inn? How curious.
Neither of them were the secrets the entity had been hoping for, but both of them could be used.
