“We shall gather. And there, we shall build a strong, great city.”

So the people of the distant past spoke. And in truth, they gathered there, and it became a village, then a town, and then a city.

“We must protect ourselves. We shall surround this city with a massive wall.”

The people broke down mountains, packed the stone firm, and piled up walls.

The walls grew thick and high, until at last they surrounded the entire city.

“We have grown numerous. Let us kindle fire, and light the night. Then we will no longer need to fear the dark.”

The people took fire from the mountains. They hardened the fire they had taken and made it a light to illuminate the city.

The light made the city grow even larger, and many people entered it.

The city became a nation, and ruled over many.

“We have become strong and great. We shall rule this land. We shall reign over this land as gods.”

The people hunted the dragons of the heavens, slew the giant beasts of the earth, and expanded their nation.

“Let us take the fire beneath the earth. With this, we shall rule other lands as well.”

The people became arrogant, and in time, they plotted to rule the earth itself. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

And so the earth grew angry, and at last decided to scatter the people.

The ground split, and fire poured out. freewebnøvel.coɱ

In the blink of an eye, it swallowed the city. The great walls were melted by fire, and everything sank beneath the flames.

The earth’s anger swallowed all things, and eventually reached the sea.

The sea calmed the earth’s anger, and closed {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} the sundered ground.

“An interesting document.”

“Well, it’s a myth. My country doesn’t have it, but in some of the northern countries, it’s recorded as the Genesis of their scripture. Similar myths seem to have been passed down in different regions, so I suspect this one might be historical fact.”

“Fire that covered the land... Lava, perhaps.”

“It’s possible. After all, the United Kingdom of Aphrasia is covered in lava, isn’t it? A major eruption from the past being passed down as myth is entirely plausible.”

“Worth considering.”
