Chapter 131: The Arrival of Lightnova
Indigo and the king leisurely enjoyed their relaxing atmosphere while watching the live broadcast of the events unfolding throughout Yongin City.
The king was even wearing a pair of sunglasses.
"Hey, uhm... do you have anything to drink?"
the king asked Indigo.
"Hm? No."
"Hah... then this isn’t nearly as enjoyable."
Indigo looked at him in confusion.
’This guy... isn’t he way too relaxed?’
Indigo thought, despite being even more relaxed than the king himself.
The two of them continued watching the broadcast.
On the screen, enormous tree roots began emerging throughout the city.
Oh? I think I know who that is.
---
In Yongin City.
Heroes had already arrived to protect the civilians.
Among them was South Korea’s A-Rank Hero, Floral.
Choi Yu-jin.
She walked calmly down the middle of the street while releasing her power.
One by one, trees rapidly sprouted from the asphalt.
Their roots stretched across the city at incredible speed.
The roots chased after fleeing villains.
One after another, the villains were captured by the massive roots.
"Run! Don’t let those roots catch you!"
"AGH!! Help!! Save me!!"
the villains screamed.
"Shoot the roots!"
The villains immediately opened fire.
Bullets rained toward the roots.
But it was useless.
The roots captured them with overwhelming speed.
One villain appeared carrying a bazooka.
He took aim at Floral.
With a pull of the trigger, the launcher fired.
The rocket sped directly toward her.
Floral, who had remained calm the entire time, immediately reacted.
Using her power, she summoned a giant root from the ground.
The root caught the incoming rocket, spun it around several times, and hurled it back toward its owner.
The rocket shot through the air.
The villain’s eyes widened.
He tried to run.
He was too late.
BOOM—
The explosion engulfed him.
"Retreat!! We can’t fight her!!"
As soon as the order was shouted, the villains began pulling back.
"Who said you could retreat?"
Floral raised both of her arms toward the fleeing villains.
The roots behind her surged forward.
"Hiiik!!"
One villain screamed as a root pierced through him.
One after another, the retreating villains were impaled by Floral’s roots.
---
Elsewhere, other heroes were battling villains throughout the city.
They were being assisted by A-Rank Hero Sword Ink.
Ha-jin.
With Sword Ink’s abilities, the villains were being defeated with ease.
"Ink Slash!"
he shouted as he swung his blade.
A green slash burst forth.
Sword Ink’s power allowed every slash he made to chain toward nearby enemies within a thirty-meter radius.
Once villains entered his range, his ability activated automatically, making him extremely effective against groups.
His power was exceptionally useful in large-scale battles.
However, it had a weakness.
It was almost useless in one-on-one combat.
That was why Ha-jin constantly trained his swordsmanship—to compensate for that flaw.
"This area is secure. We need to move to the city center. There are still plenty of villains over there."
Sword Ink addressed the nearby heroes.
The group immediately began running toward the center of the city.
Along the way, they encountered Floral.
"Yu-jin? Are you finished with your sector?"
Sword Ink asked.
"Yes. That’s why I’m heading to the center now."
"Good. Then let’s go together. There are still civilians trapped there."
The two groups joined forces and rushed toward the city center.
As they ran, the ground suddenly began shaking violently.
"Ugh! What’s happening? An earthquake?"
one of the heroes shouted.
"Something happened over there. Hurry!"
Floral yelled.
The heroes immediately accelerated. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
When they finally arrived at the city center, they were stunned.
Villains lay scattered everywhere.
Unconscious bodies covered the streets.
In the middle of the destruction stood Lightnova.
She was holding a villain by the throat, lifting him into the air.
"K-Ugh!"
"Ji-hye— I mean, Lightnova?"
Floral called out.
Upon hearing her voice, Lightnova turned toward them and released her grip.
The villain fell unconscious onto the ground.
"Oh, you’ve arrived."
The heroes approached her.
"When did you get here? We didn’t hear anything."
Floral asked.
"Well... after my business in Paris was finished, I flew here immediately when I heard Yongin was being attacked by Indigo."
"Hah... you’re unbelievable..."
"By the way, where’s Yerin?"
"A-Ah... about that..."
---
A little earlier.
In Paris.
Inside the hotel where they were temporarily staying.
"Hah... this is exhausting. Those villains just keep coming. There were so many casualties."
Yerin sighed.
"Yeah... we can’t save everyone. We’re not gods or anything..."
Ji-hye replied.
Ji-hye lay down on her bed.
She casually opened her phone and started scrolling through the news.
Then she saw an article.
Indigo had attacked Yongin.
She instantly sat upright.
Her eyes widened.
"Hm? What’s wrong, Ji-hye?"
Yerin asked while changing clothes.
"I have to go."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Without answering, Ji-hye jumped off the bed and headed for the door.
"Hey! Where are you going!?"
The door slammed shut.
"Huh... what is wrong with her... she’s seriously weird..."
---
Back in the present.
"Well... I guess she’s enjoying Paris and wanted to stay there a bit longer."
Lightnova said with an awkward smile. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"I see. Then that’s fine."
"By the way, have you found Indigo yet?"
"Hm? Uhm... we’ve only been fighting ordinary villains. We haven’t found him anywhere."
Floral replied.
Sword Ink suddenly pointed upward.
"Maybe he’s up there."
Ha-jin was referring to the enormous flying vessel hanging above the city.
Everyone looked toward the sky.
"Yeah... he’s always been like this. He loves high places."
With that, Lightnova instantly transformed into light.
She shot toward the massive aircraft at incredible speed.
---
Inside the aircraft.
Indigo and the king were still relaxing.
"Hey, uhm... can I smoke in here?"
Indigo asked.
"Ah, sure. Do whatever you want. I’m trying to relax."
Just as Indigo was about to lift part of his mask to smoke, the entire aircraft suddenly shook violently.
Both men looked around in confusion.
Indigo immediately abandoned the idea.
"Hey, can this ship, aircraft, or whatever it’s called actually be piloted properly?"
"Of course it can! Something must’ve happened!"
Then suddenly—
CRASH!
The floor near them exploded inward.
A brilliant light shone through the opening.
Both Indigo and the king turned toward it.
Their eyes widened.
Indigo instantly recognized whose light it was.
’Damn it! Lightnova!? When did she get here!?’
Panic flashed through Indigo’s mind.
