As the day winded to an end, the kids wanted to keep playing. Kanae let Suvee and Kanade go to Silver Hall with Esta and Feraline. Mikki had gone back to the Illuminant Repository, and the royal Avanessi couple took their leave with their children. Dawn fell into a deep sleep, so Kanae returned to Amethyst Hall to put her baby to sleep.
"Meidina!" Kanae called out as soon as she returned.
"Oh, Kanae?" Reen popped her head out from the right hallway.
The dark elf wasn't alone. Runald and Joap were with her, too. All three munched on a bun that Reen must have recently baked. It filled the main room with a sweet scent.
"There's a whole festival going on, and you guys are spending it here?" Kanae asked.
"Reen wanted to make us some mana food, so here we are. It's really good," Joap said, stuffing his mouth.
"Would you like some? Try this one!" Reen suggested, lifting a tray full of pastries up to her nose. "Aisha came out of her lab to try some earlier. She seemed to really like them!"
Kanae picked up one. It looked like a donut hole. The baked morsel was lathered in cream. She tossed it into her mouth, and the first bite drenched her tongue with a sweet strawberry flavor. When she swallowed the treat, a burst of mana washed over her. Although not in need of replenishing, the cool and refreshing sensation rippled comfortably through her body.
"Mmm! This is really good, Reen. I'm lucky to have you serving under me instead of opening your own restaurant," Kanae complimented.
"Hehe. Maybe one day! Right now, I'm happy to be a part of Amethyst Hall! Does Dawn want one—"
Joap casted a Magic Hand to cover Reen's mouth. Dawn stirred a little. Kanae cradled and rocked her back to a peaceful slumber.
"Sh." Joap lifted a finger to his lips.
"Sorry!" Reen bowed apologetically.
"I was planning to head back out and have Meidina look after her. Any idea where my quartermaster's gone?" Kanae asked.
"Down the other corridor with Rog and Lina," Runald answered. "Petyr's with them, too. Her armor looked pretty banged up, so I guess she needed some fixing. I-I can look after Dawn, if you want! I'm good with kids."
"Oh? Do you know how to change a diaper, too?" She teased.
"No… but I have to learn eventually. In case, you know… we have a baby," he explained.
Reen and Joap watched teasingly from behind Runald. They reined it in for his sake.
"Alright. Put Dawn to bed in my room. I'll send Meidina up after you." Kanae gently put Dawn into Runald's awkward arms, which she had to fanangle to get him to hold her correctly.
The three were smitten by the baby. They visibly held back from poking at Dawn's chubby cheeks. As the trio headed up to the Knight-Commander's bedchamber, Kanae walked down to Rog and Lina's workshop. A couple of Aidenhall knights saluted her as she entered. Some were browsing the selection of armors and weapons made available on mannequins and racks.
Ever since the orc and elf couple took residence in Amethyst Hall to work full time, they had transformed the space into a shop. Rog was already well-known in smithing circles, so word spread quickly where he worked now. As a result, knights who could afford his services came and went from Kanae's hall regularly. Consequently, their increased workload warranted hiring more hands and a bigger place. Kanae greenlit Lina's request to knock down the wall to the adjacent room for use, and Rog took on several apprentice blacksmiths.
A small line had formed up to the counter with people who needed work done on their equipment. Petyr was at the very front, her suit of armor resting on the counter for Lina and Meidina to inspect.
"Did Red give you enough of a beating that your armor needs repairing?" Kanae came up from behind and asked.
Every piece of the dragonscale plate had been dinged up. Magical burns tarnished its golden sheen with patches of black. Four parallel slashes cut diagonally across the breastplate, likely from Red getting a hit in with her claws.
"Oh." Kanae gulped.
It was the most damage Petyr's dragonscale armor had ever seen since the Saviran civil war.
"I'll hand it to Red. She packed a punch. If I didn't pre-cast Shield of Devotion, I would have undoubtedly lost. So, here I am. Rog and Lina are the only ones I trust to fix my armor," Petyr explained.
"And we should be able to before your next match! Although… this has been pretty damaged, more so than you normally see on armor. The more banged up parts might require a repair scroll. They can be fairly pricey." Lina frowned.
"Cost is not an issue." She reached for her pouch of gold.
"No. Put it on Amethyst Hall's tab. Meidina?" Kanae turned to the quartermaster.
"Of course, Knight-Commander. I'll add the repairs to Petyr's armor to our hall's expenses." Meidina bowed.
Lina and Rog's apprentices carried the dragonscale set into the back. Petyr was only dressed in her tunic and Amethyst Hall tabard now, the least armored up she has been for days. Kanae ushered Meidina up to her room to take care of Dawn to relieve the other three of babysitting.
"You didn't have to do that. I had the money," Petyr said as they left the workshop.
"You're representing Amethyst Hall in the tournament. I'd have done the same for Edina." Kanae smiled.
Petyr paused in the main hall and folded her arms.
"About the tournament. Have you noticed anything strange yet?" Petyr asked.
"No, why? Is there something strange?" Kanae arched her brows.
"You don't think it's odd that the Knights' Tournament was set up to be a bout between peers, yet she included two Saint Priests? Both of whom, I should remind you, are among the most capable of the eight?"
It hadn't escaped Kanae's notice. Bocchiri Ruu felt like he was holding back some of his spells. Someone of his level should have had a spellbook's worth of magic. Camilla Rudeux defeated Alicia without so much as breaking a sweat. But that was what they were trained to do. To crush threats.
Petyr continued, "I'm of the opinion that we were never expected to win. Archbishop Patrice hand-selected Bocchiri and Camilla to defeat us."
"Pft. Defeat you or Edina? Yeah, they're strong. I don't think they are as strong as you two." Kanae stifled a laugh, but Petyr wasn't in a giggling mood. "Er… Okay, I'll bite. Why would the archbishop achieve by pitting Saint Priests against us?"
"The crowned don't obtain experience fighting each other. Only by killing monsters. So, it can't be that. I imagine it's to demonstrate Radevic is stronger than Ortesia, Artaggon, and the Commonwealth. I won't be underestimating my Saint Priest opponent. If Edina makes it to the semi-finals, you should let her know not to underestimate her opponent either."
Before Kanae had a chance to ask for more clarity, Vesh and Motta descended from the stairs. Apparently, Petyr and the incubi made plans to go out. She bid them goodbye when a wave of dizziness overwhelmed her.
Kanae pressed her back to the wall as the sudden nausea seized hold. However, it passed just as quickly as it came. She hoped the feeling had passed, only for an extreme urge to have sex came over her.
"What's happening to me?" Kanae groaned.
"Kanae, are you okay?" Runald asked from the top of the stairs.
The others were with him, too, including Meidina and Dawn, who was wide awake.
"I thought I told you to put Dawn to sleep?" Kanae straightened her back.
"Dawn woke up and refuses to sleep now. We're going to take her out for a walk. With your permission of course," Meidina explained.
"You know what? Yeah. You guys go to do that." She grabbed Runald's wrist with a vise as he came down. "You're staying though."
"Oh." Runald gulped.
"Have fun you lucky bastard." Joap patted him on the back.
The second they left Amethyst Hall, Kanae dragged Runald back upstairs to her bedchamber. She shoved him into bed, pulled his pants off, and climbed on top. His throbbing cock was raring to go. Hunger sat her pussy down on it.
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
"Ahh… Shit… Kanae, slow down… please… You're going to snap my dick off!" Runald cried.
"You can usually go for up to an hour! Don't stop now. I need more cock… Just make me cum five more times!" Kanae pounded her hips even harder.
"I've already climaxed three times! That's impossible!" His hands found purchase on her waist and squeezed.
Kanae lost track of time. By the time she regained her senses, Runald had passed out and foamed at the mouth. She lifted her hips, and his penis flopped limply on his belly. Panic set in. Kanae pressed her ear to his chest and was relieved to hear a pulse. That was close, but it looked like he wasn't waking anytime soon.
The afternoon had turned to evening. While not quite night yet, the clouds were painted a darker shade of orange and light purple. A tingling horny sensation still nipped at Kanae's body. It almost felt like someone had casted a supercharged Turn Horny spell at her.
Knock! Knock!
Kanae wrapped herself in a light robe and answered the door. A hobgoblin woman greeted her with a clipboard in hand.
"Aisha?" Kanae squinted at her.
"I understand you are under the weather. Can you tell me how you're feeling?" Aisha asked.
"Oh, what do I say? Unbelievably horny. I fucked Runald unconscious! I couldn't think straight for the past few hours. At the start, my body moved on its own. I'm not even sure I feel satisfied yet." She groaned into both hands.
The hobgoblin jotted everything Kanae said down, occasionally uttering a 'mhmm' every few words.
"Hey… Why are you writing all this?" Kanae asked, suspicious of her intentions.
"No reason. Thanks, Kanae. I'll leave you to your night." Aisha turned to leave.
"I don't think so." She exerted a Charm on the hobgoblin, who spun to face her and froze in place. "What is going on?"
"Damn it. I knew this was going to happen… Archbishop Patrice… wanted to see if… our concocted version of the blood of Satine worked. So… she asked me to feed it to you… Through Reen's cooking…"
Kanae balled up her fists and growled. If it wasn't for the lingering libido muffling her fury, she might have flown straight to the Basilica of Saint Rue to confront the archbishop. She spared a few moments catching her breath to calm down, then released Aisha from the Charm.
"I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at the archbishop. Just… Do you realize how insane it is to dose my food?" Kanae asked, seething quietly and trying not to blow up.
"No, you're right." Aisha gulped hard.
"The next time you see Archbishop Patrice, tell her that it worked a little too well on me. But if she tries that again, we're going to find out what her kink is that all high elves seem to hide."
Aisha nodded and breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'll do that," Aisha said.
"Can you also make Runald a potion? Chances are, he's going to get a headache thanks to me." Kanae chuckled.
"Are… you sure? After what I did, I figured you would be more suspicious of me," she replied dejectedly.
"You're family. And I already told you I'm not mad at you. Besides, I know you're always looking after your nieces."
"They can look after themselves. You got it. Potion for a headache coming right up." The hobgoblin grinned.
