Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Corrupted Gates
The bright sun burned hot above the massive white walls of Aethelgard. Kaelen pulled his dark hood lower over his eyes. He wanted to hide his face from the world.
His new item, the Weaver’s Shadow-Ring, worked perfectly. It actively changed his sharp jawline to look softer and wider, not only that, the ring also changed his glowing violet eyes into a dull and boring brown color. He no longer looked like Kaelen Vance, the dead squire. He looked exactly like a poor, normal mercenary looking for cheap work.
He joined the long line of merchants and travelers. They were all waiting patiently to enter the massive capital city. The air up here smelled of sweet baked bread, fresh pine trees, and horse dirt.
It was a huge change from the rotting blood and dark miasma of the Abyssal Chasm. He crossed his arms under his tattered black cloak and waited.
But the line moved very slowly. His mind naturally drifted back to the dark underground manor he had just left, He closed his eyes for a second, remember the intense heat of the bathing pool, and vividly recalled the Seraphina’s figure.
She was completely bare and completely submitted to him in the hot water, her flawless pale skin was flushed with a beautiful crimson color.
He remembered the feeling of lifting her heavy, toned body by her thick thighs and pushing her against the smooth marble wall of the pool. Seraphina reacted immediately by wrapping her long, wet legs tightly around his waist to anchor herself to him.
Just thinking about the feeling made Kaelen breathe a little heavier. He remembered guiding his rigid length to her wet entrance, she was incredibly slick and tight. The memory of burying himself deep inside her hot core made his body react instantly.
Right there in the middle of the crowded line, Kaelen got a thick, heavy boner. It pushed hard against his dark trousers, he had to adjust his black cloak to hide his growing erection from the people around him.
The memory was too strong. He could still hear her desperate screams of pleasure echoing in his mind. Every time he pulled back and thrust deep inside her, she had clawed at his shoulders.
"Give it to me," he had growled against her wet neck in the pool. "Give me your strength."
"Take it!" Seraphina had cried out wildly. Her golden eyes were full of dark lust. "It is yours! I am yours!"
Kaelen remembered the exact moment they both reached the climax. He had hit her deepest spot with a brutal thrust. Seraphina’s inner walls had clenched around his rigid length with terrifying, superhuman strength. She shattered around him, sobbing his name. Kaelen had poured his hot seed directly into her womb, sealing their dark bond forever.
He wanted to finish this surface mission quickly. He wanted to return to his giant obsidian bed, he wanted to strip her naked, spread his beautiful Vanguard’s legs, and breed her until she cried out his name all night long.
Kaelen took a very deep breath. He forced his cold void mana to circulate through his veins, he need to calm his body down. He pushed the dirty, intoxicating thoughts away to focus on the real world.
He opened his eyes and looked at the massive city gates. Up ahead, two city guards in shiny silver armor blocked the entrance. They held sharp steel spears. They looked completely arrogant and lazy.
"Next!" one guard shouted loudly. His voice was full of mockery.
A poor old farmer stepped up to the front. The old man pulled a heavy wooden cart full of fresh, red apples. He looked tired and hungry.
"The entrance fee is five silver coins today, old man," the guard sneered. He blocked the wooden cart with his long spear.
The farmer looked completely terrified. He shook his head wildly. "But the fee is usually only two copper coins! I do not have five silver coins, good sir. Please, my family needs the money from these apples."
The angry guard did not care at all. He laughed cruelly. He lifted his heavy metal boot and kicked the wooden cart as hard as he could, the cheap wood splintered and broke instantly. The cart flipped over. Hundreds of fresh apples spilled all over the dirty stone road.
"Prices went up today," the guard laughed again. "Pay the coins or get lost, you dirty beggar."
The poor farmer fell to his knees and cried. He abandoned his ruined apples. He slowly stood up and turned his broken cart around, walking away in absolute shame.
Kaelen watched the sad scene with cold, empty eyes. The Holy Church always preached to the world about kindness, mercy, and saving the weak. But their soldiers were nothing but greedy thugs wearing shiny metal. They were bullies who preyed on the helpless.
It was time to move. Kaelen stepped forward, crushing a red apple beneath his heavy boot. He walked right to the front of the line.
The arrogant guard looked up and down at Kaelen’s tattered black cloak. The guard sneered in disgust.
"State your name and your business, trash." the guard demanded. He pointed his spear directly at Kaelen’s chest.
"My name is Vane..." Kaelen answered with a deep, calm voice. "I am a wandering mercenary. I am looking to join the Crimson Aegis Guild inside the city."
The guard smirked. He lowered his spear and held out his open armored hand. "Mercenaries have to pay extra to enter the capital," the guard said with a wicked smile. "The fee for you is ten silver coins. Pay it right now, or I will throw you in the dungeon!"
Kaelen did not have a single coin in his pocket, but he did not need money. He had the terrifying, raw power of a Dungeon Master. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Kaelen took a slow step forward. He stood incredibly close to the guard, actually he was taller than the soldier, then he look down at the greedy man with dead eyes.
Kaelen slowly released a tiny drop of his Level 52 killing intent. He pushed the dark void energy directly into the guard’s weak mind. He did not use enough power to kill him, just enough to show him true despair.
The guard froze instantly. A freezing chill violently crawled up his spine. The warm summer air around Kaelen suddenly felt like a heavy, suffocating black ocean.
The arrogant guard started sweating heavily. His face turned pale white. His knees began to shake wildly inside his silver armor, he felt like a tiny, helpless mouse standing right in front of a giant, starving monster. He could not breathe, yet he could not even scream.
"I seem to have lost my coins on the road..." Kaelen whispered softly. His voice sounded like a demon crawling out of the abyss. "But I am sure a noble and kind guard like you can let me pass for free."
Kaelen reached out slowly. He gently patted the guard’s armored shoulder.
The sheer physical strength he had stolen from a Level 85 Paladin flared for just one second. The thick, solid silver armor instantly cracked and bent under Kaelen’s bare hand. The metal groaned in agony.
The guard gasped for air. He looked at the massive dent in his shoulder armor, he nodded his head frantically.
"Y-yes sir!" the guard stammered in pure, absolute fear. "You can pass for free! Right now, sir! Welcome to Aethelgard!"
"Thank you so much," Kaelen smiled warmly. He dropped his hand and his killing intent vanished.
Kaelen walked past the terrified soldiers. He finally crossed the threshold and entered the capital city.
The bustling streets of Aethelgard stretched out before him. Thousands of people walked everywhere to buy and sell goods, carriages pulled by armored horses rolled down the cobblestone streets.
In the exact center of the town, a massive, beautiful holy cathedral reached into the clouds. It was the center of the Church’s power.
Kaelen completely ignored it. He turned down a dark, dirty alleyway instead. He followed the wooden signs pointing toward the mercenary district. He needed to find the Crimson Aegis Guild fast, his dark Sanctuary needed weapons, and he needed to make a mountain of gold to supply his new empire.
