Chapter 4: The System
-----
Leon sat crossed legged beside the pond, his eyes cold and calculating as countless thoughts flowed through his head.
His mind still lingering on how he planned to handle things from here henceforth.
From now on he would be living as Theon Grey. The first thing he had to do was figure out exactly who had killed the original owner of this body.
They already expect him to be dead, so just strutting through the school campus was suicide.
The worst part about all this was that he didn’t even know who to avoid.
He didn’t know the group of people that had killed him since each of them had their faces covered. If they were to find out that he was still alive, they would try to kill him once more.
His freedom was already cut short, and he had just began his reincarnation journey as well. "What a great start... throwing me straight into death once more." He sighed.
Then a small smile appeared on his lips. "Luckily, I have always been quick to adapt to such bullshit! Well— nothing like this, but you get my point"
Leon glanced at his palm. He could feel it, the essence flowing into his body from his surroundings.
"I don’t know why..." He clenched his fist. "But I can tell this body is incredibly weak. Even if I wanted to fish out each of those bastards, I have no way of beating the shit out of them. The only thing I can do is lay low and get a better grasp on this essence thing. But first ..."
He closed his eyes and concentrated on the essence in his surroundings. He already knew the process of absorbing essence into his resonance core consciously. Now he wanted to test just how trashy this Gray purity really was.
The essence slowly flowed into his body through his veins and into his resonance core. After a few minutes of maintaining this process, a frown formed on Leon’s face.
"So this is what it feels like to be talentless." He whispered. Even after minutes of absorbing, he could tell that there wasn’t a single dent made in progress. The Gray purity really was a trashy talent.
He was already used to grasping things quickly. This... This was an entirely new feeling for him. It was almost sickening in fact.
He sighed softly, then something unexpected happened. Something he had completely disregarded since he reincarnated.
A bright blue light shone in Leon’s face.
[System synchronization complete]
He bit his lip unconsciously. ’This damn interface is back!’
Unlike other main characters who were well of with the systems they were given, he already had a bad impression of his after the trials and torture he had to endure.
Another message flashed on the interface. freewebnoveℓ.com
[Welcome host, to the Godly System]
[The host has been chosen by three Gods as their next successor]
[Fusion of soul with divine essence of Zeus, Hades and Nyx will begin now]
"Wait ..what!?"
Suddenly, a rush of Essence began to flow into his resonance core. The ground shook. Air currents rose making the trees sway as though they would be ripped out from the ground. The pond’s once calm surface rippled roughly.
Shock was eminent on Leon’s face as the Essence flooded into his veins like a tidal wave. It looked okay at first glance, but his core couldn’t contain all of it.
His pain sensors flared up as he collapsed on the floor. He bit his lip resisting the urge to upright scream. ’My core! It can’t take all of this at once.’ Leon coughed out a mouthful of blood.
He could feel his core cracking. Then, it shattered. An explosion of Essence erupted within him. He screamed. His muscles were being torn apart from the sudden burst of energy.
[Error]
[Error]
[Error]
The system messages kept coming one after the other, each one flashing a bright red. But Leon was in too much pain to even concentrate. His eyelashes suddenly felt much heavier. ’I can’t... I’m... I’m losing consciousness.’ His vision slowly darkened.
The System’s message flashed once more, but alas, Leon was already unconscious.
[Host body is still too weak to contain all the abilities of Zeus, Hades, and Nyx]
[Placing restrictions on certain abilities]

In another distant land, on the other side of Oris stood a large mountain. The whole landscape was covered entirely by snow. The storm the snow brought in its wake was so strong, it could rip an E Rank to pieces in a matter of seconds.
Standing on the peak of the mountain, where the snow was most concentrated was an old man. He sat in a lotus position with eyes completely shut. Rough, cold winds that were more concentrated at the peak had no effect on him.
He just sat in one place, his hair moving along with the wind.
Then, his eyes suddenly shot open. The snow storm that raged suddenly stopped.
"It’s been so long..." His ancient eyes glowed brightly. "When was the last time someone awakened a resonance core of Divine purity!"
He slowly stood up, then he stretched out one of his hands. "Come!" He whispered. Immediately he spoke, a long white staff shot towards him at blinding speeds. The air gave way as the staff moved. And yet, when the staff reached the old man, he caught it like it was a ball thrown his way.
He smiled then gave the staff a few spins. "Okay!"
The old man bent down slightly. The mountain began to rumble under the pressure of the man’s feet. Cracks slowly began forming round the mountain’s peak.
"I really do hope this adventure brings about something interesting." He smiled. "I haven’t had fun in a long time." He said before shooting upwards at breakneck speed, completely destroying the mountain and creating a massive ripple of air that completely cleared the storm.
