Chapter 675: Incoming Reinforcement.
The swordsman was not intimidated by all of this showmanship, though. He sneered at the other party and said, "You are not bad. Your power would be enough to defeat some other rank 6 cultivator. It is your bad luck that you encountered me instead." freewebnøvel.coɱ
As he spoke, he dodged the solid shells that the cannons shot at him. His movement was nimble, and his speed was extraordinary, so the large physical ammunition couldn’t touch him.
The solid shells sailed past him and struck the ground beneath him. Then they exploded in a conflagration of fire and shrapnel that tore everything around them apart. This led to the creation of a small crater where the solid shell had landed.
The lasers were more difficult to dodge, though. After all, they were as fast as the speed of light.
No amount of maneuvering could help him avoid those blazing fast energy streams that shot at him. However, he still didn’t panic when the lasers came closer to him. He waved his sword around before him and used it to deflect the lasers.
The laser was a beam of highly energetic light, but with the way he was deflecting them aside, the lasers might as well be physical pebbles. They bore no threat to him and were easily neutralized.
The enemy seemed to have realized that they’ve beaten more than they could chew because they were moving away from him and trying to escape.
When he saw this, he grinned as he said, "Oh no, you don’t. You can’t leave until I say so."
He sped up and caught up to the enemy. Then he swung his sword at them.
Earlier, he had only been using the Sword Mountain Metac to deflect the lasers. But now, he had combined the Sword Storm Metac with the Sword Mountain Metac to create a storm of blades with each blade as heavy as a mountain.
The power of this attack was outstanding and fearsome. Everything the storm of sword swept through was shredded and scattered into the wind as dust.
The trail of damage that the storm of swords left behind made all the little craters that the exploding shells left around the battlefield look like a joke. The swordsman smiled proudly when he saw this.
While the swordsman was feeling proud, the enemy standing opposite to him was panicking. The old man wanted to run away to avoid the attack, but the storm of swords was able to twist and turn to meet him.
Since the storm of swords could track him and change its trajectory to catch him, the old man had to face it head-on. In the attempt to block the attack, some of the cloud of metal detached from the old man’s armor to form a metallic wall in front of the old man.
The wall was a thick metallic wall that was good enough to be the door of some vault. It was more than 30 centimeters across in thickness, with a size of 10 meters by 10 meters.
For a hastily made defense, this wall looked impressive. Unfortunately for the old man, it wasn’t enough.
As it turned out, looks aren’t the only thing a wall needs to be successful. Whatever else was needed was clearly lacking when the storm of swords smashed into the metallic wall and tore it apart.
The wall fell just as quickly as it was erected. Then the storm of swords fell on the old man.
The black armor that the old man was wearing was the first to bear the brunt of the attack. The storm of swords fell on the armor with a sharp edge and a power strong enough to split mountains and worlds in half.
The black armor did better than the wall and lasted a few more seconds. But it still failed at the end of the day. Then the flesh of the old man became exposed to the edges of the swords that formed the storm.
As the swordsman expected, the old man’s flesh was torn asunder. The old man was carved to pieces under the onslaught of the storm of swords. His attempt to heal only created more flesh for the storm to tear.
The sight made the swordsman laugh. As he laughed, he swung his sword and produced another storm of swords.
He felt that since the first attack had been so successful, a second attack was going to be even better. In fact, he didn’t stop here. He created a third and a fourth storm of swords, which he directed at the enemy.
As it turned out, he was right to up the ante. The more the storm raged, the more ragged and torn the old man became.
Nothing could save the old man from the barrage of attacks. He could only be ravaged and shredded.
The old man cried out before threatening him, saying, "Go on and continue to laugh. My reinforcements are on their way. When they arrive, you won’t be laughing then."
This threat worked in that it made the swordsman pause. The swordsman paused and contemplated withdrawing before the old man’s reinforcement arrived.
He thought that it was good to be cautious and leave. But he also felt that there was something fishy about the man announcing that his reinforcement was coming when the old man could have been silent about it, and let the reinforcement catch him off guard when they arrived.
So he sneered and said, "It will take more than that to get me to leave you alone, old man. Whoever you are, you will die today."
He decided not to let the old man scare him into leaving. Instead of leaving, he opted to continue to press his advantage.
So instead of easing off, he did the opposite and increased the tempo of his attack. He swung his sword more frequently and created more and more storms.
More storms were created before the previous ones were spent. This saturated the enemy, but it was also an inefficient use of his lifespan.
