“Are you truly certain you won't regret this?”
Varkas asked in a tightly strained voice.
Afraid that even the slightest hesitation would make him push her away and leave, Talia nodded immediately.
After staring into her eyes as though piercing straight through them for a long time, the man finally wrapped one arm around her waist and stood up. Instinctively, Talia grabbed his clothes.
With a sound of crack, two golden buttons that had been precariously holding onto his chest fell to the floor and rolled away. While she unconsciously followed them with her eyes, something soft touched beneath her.
Talia looked up at him with anxious eyes. After setting her down on the bed, Varkas threw off the upper garment that had fallen open at the front. Flickering light greedily licked the smooth, sculpted upper body beneath.
For a moment, her heart spasmed violently.
Talia hurriedly lowered her gaze.
Holding her cheeks with both hands, Varkas forcibly raised her head and made her look at him.
“Even now, it's not too late. If you tell me to leave, I will quietly withdraw.”
It was a question that tore apart even the last remnants of her pride.
Strengthening her reddened eyes, Talia glared at him.
“My decision won't change.”
So please, stop asking.
Swallowing the plea rising to her throat, she felt his hand slide down her nape. Talia stiffened.
Keeping his cool gaze fixed on her face as though testing her, Varkas traced over her skin damp with cold sweat before bringing his hand to the top button resting above her cleavage. Then, as though giving her time to refuse, he deliberately delayed for a long while before slowly undoing it.
Soon the front of the dress parted, revealing the full valley beneath.
His blue eyes, darker than usual, settled upon it.
It felt as though her heart would burst through her ribs at any moment.
Biting her lip in shame, Talia hurriedly grabbed his wrist when his hand moved to the second button.
“Turn... turn all the lights off.”
He simply stood there without moving, silently looking down at her. Feeling as though his gaze saw straight through the timid truth hidden within her, Talia raised her voice.
“Didn't you hear me?”
Only then did Varkas stand up and extinguish the candles placed throughout the room.
As heavy shadows settled over the chamber, his outline became faint.
But it still wasn't dark enough.
She gestured toward the fireplace.
“That too.”
Watching her quietly, the man walked over to the fireplace and lowered the cover.
At last, thick darkness swallowed the room.
Taking a deep breath, Talia squeezed out a suppressed voice.
“Now... come here.”
But she heard no sign of movement.
Her pupils dilating, Talia searched the darkness and pitifully parted her lips.
“Varkas... w-where are you?”
As the silence continued, the suffocating sensation grew stronger.
Had he left her behind and disappeared?
Panting harshly in despair, she suddenly felt one side of the bed sink.
Spotting his shadow, Talia hurriedly reached out.
She no longer had the luxury of preserving her dignity.
Wrapping her arms around his long, taut neck, she breathed in his scent as though inhaling air itself.
She needed to know she had not been abandoned alone in this darkness.
She needed to know he was still here.
“Hold {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} me. Right now.”
Only after her attack finally subsided did she force those words out beside his ear.
The man, rigid as stone, laid her down on the bed.
With trembling eyes, Talia looked up at the dark figure looming above her.
Hands so hot they were startling descended onto her icy skin.
As his hand grasped the front of her dress, she shrank her neck in alarm, and her skirt rolled upward over her waist.
Realizing he was trying to undress her, Talia cried out hysterically.
“N-no! Don't take it off!”
The dark shadow above her instantly froze.
Grabbing his wrist, Talia hurriedly added,
“Just... leave the clothes on.”
“...Are you asking me to ravish you?”
His rough voice echoed beside her ear.
Talia barely swallowed the sob rising in her throat.
“It's not that. It's just... this is the way I want it.”
Without hiding herself inside the layers of her dress, she felt she would never be able to endure his touch.
Swallowing those words, she desperately pulled him closer.
After briefly stiffening, Varkas exhaled roughly and climbed over her.
Soon, a wet tongue forced its way between her lips. Out of habit, she drew in the flesh that seemed intent on piercing her throat, and hot breaths filled her lungs.
It felt as though she were inhaling flames.
Overwhelmed by dizzying heat, she wrapped her arms tighter around his neck when she felt a large hand slip between her thighs.
Afraid that hand might touch her legs, Talia hurriedly spread her knees apart.
Long, firm fingers descended straight onto the sensitive place.
At once, an unexpected sense of revulsion crawled up her spine.
Talia urgently expelled his tongue and shook her head rapidly.
“I-I don't like that. Don't.”
“If I don't loosen you up, you might get hurt.”
A soothing voice scattered beside her ear.
Talia shook her head even more violently.
“I-it's fine. Just do it.”
“...Not until you're properly ready.”
Murmuring softly by her ear, Varkas slowly began to move his fingers.
Talia's abdomen twitched as her nails dug into shoulders hard as marble.
Cold sweat poured down as every pore in her body opened.
It was horrifying that he was touching the filthiest part of her.
In truth, she had never wanted him to know such an ugly place existed on her body at all.
Her body trembling, Talia soon lost her patience and urged him harshly.
“I-it's enough now. Enough... just do it.”
“Not yet.”
“I don't... want to wait anymore. Hurry.”
If this went on any longer, she might lose consciousness.
Just as she was about to say so, she felt the powerful muscles around his body tighten all at once.
A moment later came the sound of a belt being undone, and then the narrow waist above her settled between her thighs.
Talia's whole body tensed like a drawn bowstring.
She felt a heavy pressure below.
Instinctively, she pulled her hips backward, but the pressure only intensified.
The sensation of being crushed inside made her lips part.
No scream came out.
Like a fish stranded on land, she silently opened and closed her mouth while rolling his name over her tongue.
Varkas.
Varkas.
Varkas.
Clinging to his name like a drowning person clutching at straw, she repeated it over and over.
Then he pushed deeper.
At the sensation of her body being torn apart, a harsh sob finally escaped.
Perhaps hearing it, Varkas stopped at last.
In eyes adjusted to the darkness, she could vaguely make out a face that looked as though it were enduring something unbearable.
At that moment, a pain greater than the agony in her body crushed her chest.
More painful than what was happening inside her, a hundred times more painful, was that expression that looked as though he were enduring a punishment.
Suppressing the sob caught in her throat, Talia bit down on her lip.
Please don't make that face.
Don't look like you hate it so much.
Swallowing those words that merely spun inside her mouth, she saw the man looking at her with pale eyes slowly begin to withdraw.
Realizing he intended to stop, Talia desperately wrapped her arms around his back.
“No. Don't stop here.”
There's no need to feel miserable.
There's no need to suffer.
I'm only using him for my own purpose.
Repeating that to herself, Talia endured the pain and lifted her hips.
Their loosened union deepened again, their sweat-soaked bodies tangling together.
At the same time, she heard the sound of grinding teeth, and somewhat rough movements followed.
Talia desperately endured his motions.
Gradually, her lower abdomen grew hotter, as though she were embracing a bar of iron heated in fire.
That was what felt so strange.
That a man who had always seemed colder than ice could possess such warmth.
Clinging tightly to his sturdy body slick with sweat, Talia panted and absentmindedly scratched down the swollen muscles of his back.
As his movements gradually quickened, her vision swayed dizzily.
How long had she been tossed and tossed again like a wrecked little boat swept by rough waves?
At last, those increasingly violent motions reached their end.
