Chapter 50: Chapter 50: All Or Nothing

Am I going to die?

Again? Without even achieving anything?

Are both of my lives going to be this meaningless?

Shen Yuan stared at Peng Ho’s face as he fell from the cliff. The time around him seemed to have slowed down.

Or maybe it was just his mind that went into overdrive.

Since his house was on the edge of the cliff, Peng Ho somehow managed to destroy a large chunk of the land and the house at the same time.

Amidst the debris, Shen Yuan felt nothing like always.

No adrenaline rush.

No excitement.

No fear.

No anger.

No sadness.

The only thing he felt was pure disappointment.

Is this the best I could do?

Shen Yuan’s body moved before his mind reached a conclusion. His fingers flexed in the middle of the air as he summoned something out of the inventory.

"I’m not going down without a fight. This is what normal people are supposed to do after all. Get all angry and take revenge.’

Shen Yuan whipped his hand and shot a string of the sharp metal wire.

Up above on the firm land that was still intact, Peng Ho’s smirk froze when he saw a glow flicker before his eyes.

He could not recognize what it was until it was too late and the string was moving around his neck.

To save his neck from being severed, Peng Ho conjured his Qi and wrapped it around his body. As if his body suddenly turned into a block of steel, the wires could no longer pierce his body.

Thwack!

Shen Yuan tried to use the string to stop himself from falling, but the wire was too long for him to hang on.

"You want to take me down with you? That will never happen!" Peng Ho raised his qi-informed hand in the shape of a blade to chop down the string. "Go die."

Seeing that his plan was about to fail, Shen Yuan yanked on the wooden handle of the strings hard.

"Ack—" Peng Ho felt his neck jerking before he was also falling down from the cliff, right above Shen Yuan.

Everything from the start happened in less than five seconds. Most of the rocks and wreckage was still falling behind the two of them slowly.

"You bastard." When he realized what was happening, Peng Ho’s eyes went wide in rage and panic.

Wrapping his hands around the steel wire, he ripped it in two pieces before diving down. "I will kill you!"

"Mountain Shattering—" Peng Ho performed the stance midair while aiming for Shen Yuan’s body.

But his plan failed when Shen Yuan used the severed strings separately.

He used one to steer the little demon coming for his head away and another to latch onto a falling rock to distance himself from the line of attack.

A wave of destruction was unleashed from Peng Ho’s fist, which shifted in the middle of launch and landed on the biggest chunk of the rubble falling below, obliterating it.

Boom!

A huge cloud of dust flew in all directions, swallowing the madman.

Seeing the destruction, Shen Yuan felt a tingling sensation on his back. But he had no time to think.

He was still falling, and he had to save himself. Fortunately, there was a huge wall of rocks on one side.

’I have to do something...’ Shen Yuan tried to move, but his body would not sway the way he wanted; then he recalled the Silent Reaper Step he had learned.

Without wasting more time, he used the rock to gain momentum and performed the technique. freewebnovёl.ƈom

His feet seemed to blur a little before as he moved into the air like a flying bird.

Unfortunately, he lacked the momentum and the power to reach the mountain and fell down once more.

Woosh!

Just as he was about to hang on to another falling rock, Shen Yuan heard a whistling sound coming from down below.

He looked down only to see something big hurling straight for his head.

He kicked the rock he was trying to land on and jumped to another one and...

Bang!

Two chunks of rocks collided, creating a heavy sound.

Shen Yuan looked again and saw a familiar figure rushing up.

Peng Ho was using falling debris as a platform to move up, and unlike Shen Yuan, he had the qi to perform such stunts.

’Ugh. I have to use the movement technique, but I haven’t learned it well enough.’ Shen Yuan was formulating his choices when Peng Ho was already close to him and raised his leg to kick him in the stomach.

Shen Yuan blocked the attack with the back of his forearm, but a stinging pain instantly filled his arm.

"You are strong." Peng Ho’s face was now dark, his eyes filled with killing intent. "You are already at the peak of the body refinement stage. How long you have been hiding this power."

"I have nothing to say to you, Chang Shi." Shen Yuan saw the flicker of surprise in his eyes and smirked, "Yeah, I know your name. It took some time to connect the dots in my head, but I eventually did it. You see i have a great memory. I can recall an event from when I was a baby. So it was not hard to recall the small baby who would come to our house every week with bruises and cuts."

Shen Yuan finally knew who Peng Ho was.

Earlier Shen Yuan could not identify him because he had changed his name, and the old Peng Ho, or rather Chang Shi, looked way different.

The image of a small boy clutching his bloodied clothes came to his mind. The boy’s face was covered with messy clothes and dirt at that time.

From the memory, he knew that Shen Yuan had treated the boy himself out of pity, but he later learned that the boy would come to see him only to learn their family secrets. His father told him some of the wounds he had were self-inflicted.

Shen Yuan took the moment of Chang Shi’s surprise to his advantage and focused all of his attention on performing the technique he was trying so hard to learn.

’Please work!’
