Chapter 2648: Chapter 2648: Life-bound Magic Treasure, Sun and Moon Dragon Chalice
Carson Flores’s Incarnation left, carrying away the corpse of that unknown fallen Quasi-Saint.
Very soon, Carson could no longer sense the presence of his Incarnation; clearly, it had already been dragged into some unknown Otherworldly Space.
Now there really shouldn’t be anyone who can find that senior’s corpse anymore, right?
Carson walked back into the room from the doorway and also began searching around inside. Just as he walked past a row of wooden shelves, an unfamiliar voice suddenly sounded in his mind.
"On the shelf, the third oil lamp."
Carson was startled, the hairs on his back standing up in an instant.
Besides himself and his companions, there was someone else here!
Who was it?
Carson’s first instinct was to pass this information to Varric Combs, but before he could open his mouth, the voice echoed in his mind again.
"If you want my Life-bound Magic Treasure to fall into your companion’s hands, then go ahead and tell them."
Me?
Life-bound Magic Treasure?
Carson’s eyes suddenly widened a bit, a jolt running through his mind.
The fallen Quasi-Saint’s lost Life-bound Magic Treasure?
Carson’s gaze swept over the wooden shelf. On it was a row of oil lamps all of identical design, shaped like a coiling dragon standing as a pillar; the dragon’s mouth was where the lamp’s wick sat. Once lit, the flame would burn from the dragon’s mouth, illuminating the surroundings.
Carson glanced around; there was no one else in the great hall. The others were wandering about elsewhere.
Carson turned back, his gaze running along that row of oil lamps before finally settling on the third one. In his mind, he responded, "Senior, are you the one who was on the high platform?"
"Yes, the one whose corpse you just buried!"
Carson felt rather awkward for a moment. What kind of situation was this?
The person wasn’t even truly dead yet, and he had already buried the man’s physical body?
Not only buried it, but he didn’t even know where exactly he’d sent it off to!
Carson apologized awkwardly, "Senior, I didn’t know you weren’t dead. I also don’t know where your body ended up, but you’re proficient in the Space Turbulence Technique—you should be able to find it, right?"
The old voice sighed. "Even if I found it, it’d be useless. That body is completely ruined. If it weren’t, why would I be hiding in this oil lamp, clinging to life?"
Carson let out a breath of relief. That was good then; it seemed his actions hadn’t really offended the man—he’d acted out of good intentions, after all!
"This oil lamp is Senior’s Life-bound Magic Treasure?"
"Yes. If the Life-bound Magic Treasure had remained in my Sea of Consciousness, first, I would have died even faster; second, once someone came, they would definitely have forcefully seized it. So I voluntarily released it and hid to the side in secret, wanting to see what kind of character the fated person who could enter this place would have."
The old voice was extremely weak, like a candle in the wind that could be snuffed out with a single breath.
"I trapped that man for six thousand years, yet he still managed to escape. His abilities are formidable, but he’s far too rude. If I revealed myself in front of him, there’s no guarantee he wouldn’t erase me in order to seize my magical treasure."
"Right now I’m utterly spent, the oil in the lamp almost gone; I have no way to contend with him at all, so I can’t let him discover me. Even though he might not necessarily kill me, I don’t want to gamble on that."
"You, young man, are polite and kind-hearted, so I’m willing to hand this opportunity over to you. Take me out of here and do me a favor, and I’ll give you this Sun and Moon Dragon Chalice as your reward."
Carson replied cautiously, "What does Senior need me to do?"
The old voice answered, "Send me to a certain place. Don’t worry, I’m very weak right now and have no ability to make a move against you. Besides, from beginning to end, you’ve been helping me—I have no reason to harm you."
Carson blinked. "Senior, with your physical body gone, you’re not planning to Possess me and be reborn, are you?"
"Impossible. My Primordial Spirit is severely damaged; my death is certain. Right now I’m only holding on because my last wishes are unfulfilled, unwilling to accept it. So I want you to send me to a certain place and help complete my final wish. Then, even if I die, I can rest easy."
"You really don’t need to worry. Even if I still had the ability to Possess someone and be reborn, I wouldn’t have to choose you. There are plenty of options outside. I could even have you help me, couldn’t I? Besides, with your strength, if you don’t agree, there’s no way I could succeed."
Carson thought it over and felt that was true. Though he wasn’t yet a Great Land Prime Immortal, a Remnant Soul of a Great Land level trying to seize his body basically had no chance of success.
A Space System Quasi-Saint’s Life-bound Magic Treasure?
The Sun and Moon Dragon Chalice?
It ought to be pretty powerful!
"The Sun and Moon Dragon Chalice is an Innate Spiritual Treasure with extremely powerful Attack Power. Of everyone here, you’re the kindest and treat me with the most courtesy, so after my wish is fulfilled, I’m willing to voluntarily entrust the Sun and Moon Dragon Chalice to you."
"This Life-bound Magic Treasure is linked to my life. If I don’t willingly hand it over, then even if someone seizes it by force, I would act to damage it, greatly weakening its combat strength..."
Seeing that Carson was still hesitating cautiously, the old man spoke anxiously, "I’ll swear a great soul oath that I will never harm you—will that do?"
Carson’s eyes lit up, and he answered straightforwardly, "Alright. Since you’ve sworn, I’ll help you!"
