Chapter 2639: Chapter 2639: Crimson Immortal Domain, the Onset of War
Lucas White had previously told Carson Flores that he wanted to invite him to join the Heavenly God Sect, but he didn’t expect the subject to come up again in front of the Saint of Thieves from the Heavenly God Sect.
Carson quickly glanced at Varric Combs and found that he was just smiling and watching, with no intention of stopping Lucas, secretly thinking that this old man might also want to take him in?
Because of his Doppelganger Divine Ability?
Or perhaps, he found him somewhat interesting?
Although joining the Heavenly God Sect could mean receiving care and even protection from a Quasi-Saint, Carson still politely refused: "Thank you for the invitation, White, but as you know, I left the Dragon Mountain Sect’s walls to avoid causing trouble for them. In truth, I am still a disciple of the Dragon Mountain Sect, but I cannot openly return. My master treats me well; how could I seek another sect?"
Lucas White wasn’t surprised by the refusal and smiled, "Alright, I guessed you might refuse, but I wanted to try anyway. No matter when, as long as you wish, the doors of the Heavenly God Sect are always open to you."
Carson solemnly thanked him again, as in his current situation, being on bad terms with the Myriad Immortals Palace, having someone willing to take him in was quite good.
Varric Combs walked around the entire Palace of Seven Beauties and finally returned to the statue of the White Jade Star Lord. He mysteriously smiled at Carson, "Do you want to have a chat with the White Jade Star Lord?"
Carson turned his head in surprise, "Chat? How do I chat?"
Varric Combs, with his hands behind his back, pointed his chin at the white jade statue in front of them, "This white jade statue was carved by his own hands. It contains a formation, and through this formation, you can contact him personally..."
Carson widened his eyes in shock, "Is it really possible?"
After acquiring the Palace of Seven Beauties, Carson had studied the white jade statue but had never discovered any formation within it.
Varric Combs chuckled, casting several spells, the spells landed on the white jade statue, rapidly seeping into it. A few seconds later, the white jade statue began to emit a hazy radiance, with a faint formation appearing at the heart of the statue.
Varric Combs cast another spell directly into the formation, causing the formation to burst forth with light, forming a milky white light mirror.
The glow on the light mirror flickered and quickly stabilized, revealing a figure appearing within, unmistakably the elder Carson had met years ago.
He still looked the same as back then, identical to the white jade statue, without any change.
The White Jade Star Lord was walking between a White Mountain Black Water landscape and seemed surprised by the formation’s call, halting his steps and turning to face everyone in the hall.
His gaze swept over the crowd and settled on Varric Combs’ face, greeting cheerfully, "Isn’t this the Saint of Thieves from the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain? Where did you find my statue?"
Varric Combs smiled, "This statue isn’t something I found; you voluntarily gave it to someone else. He wasn’t aware of the formation within the white jade statue, so I just helped him activate it."
"Gave it away?"
The White Jade Star Lord appeared slightly puzzled and took a closer look at the surroundings, seemingly recalling this "little trinket" he had once crafted.
"Is this the Palace of Seven Beauties?"
The White Jade Star Lord’s gaze swept over the crowd again, finally resting on Carson, his eyes lighting up with interest.
"Oh, isn’t this the little fellow who turned his bones into Sword Bone? It hasn’t been that many years and he’s already reached the Great Land Realm; his strength has improved rapidly!"
Carson respectfully saluted, "Junior Carson Flores greets the elder. Today, I met the Saint of Thieves and learned the elder’s name from him. I am grateful for the gift of the Palace of Seven Beauties from that day; it has helped me escape many calamities."
The White Jade Star Lord laughed heartily, "It’s just a little trinket, no need to mind. Back then, you gave up that opportunity to save a disciple, which I truly admire. By the way, where is your disciple now?"
Carson honestly replied, "My disciple gained the elder’s opportunity and was the first to enter the Great Land Realm. After we moved to the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain, we encountered the Myriad Immortals Palace selection for Immortal Hall disciples. She participated and finished second, joining the Myriad Immortals Palace, and now serves in the Battle Hall of the Outer Five Halls. Her strength should be above the level of the Great Land Immortal."
Carson and Spencer Steele had only met briefly and had no time for more conversation, so he wasn’t sure of her exact current status. However, considering she was valued by Kaethor Jandric, her strength should be above the level of a Great Land Immortal.
The White Jade Star Lord smiled, "The young lady is indeed talented. Such achievements do justice to your previous sacrifice of opportunity. But how did you end up with the old thief? He’s not exactly a good person."
Carson was somewhat embarrassed, not knowing how to answer. Varric Combs immediately jumped up cursing, "Who are you calling not a good person? If I’m not, does that mean you are?"
The White Jade Star Lord wasn’t angry and smiled, "We only met once back then, but you were already eyeing my treasures. If I hadn’t been on guard, they would have been stolen by you. And yet, I still invited you for a drink?"
Varric Combs’ face flushed slightly, and he forced an explanation, "You knew I was the Saint of Thieves but still flaunted those items in front of me. How can you blame me? Besides, I was just teasing you, not taking any action. If I really did, would the almighty Saint of Thieves go away empty-handed?"
The White Jade Star Lord laughed, "It’s been thousands of years, and you’re still in the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain. Don’t you want to come out and explore?"
Varric Combs noticed the background behind the White Jade Star Lord, "Aren’t you in the Nine Serene Immortal Domain with the White Mountain Black Water?"
The White Jade Star Lord nodded, "I’m currently in the Crimson Immortal Domain. The Immortal Emperor has ordered me to come and take a look."
Varric Combs’ brows furrowed, his voice becoming more serious, "The Crimson Immortal Domain is preparing for war again?"
The White Jade Star Lord made a sound of agreement, "It’s been over a thousand years since the last war. The Demon Race has been biding its time, making a comeback. A fierce battle is inevitable. Combs, your thievery is unparalleled. Want to give it a go? There are many good things with the Demon Race, enough for you to steal to your heart’s content..."
Varric Combs inquired, "The Immortal Emperor’s order, did many people go?"
The White Jade Star Lord replied, "The battle hasn’t fully erupted yet, so only a few people have been summoned to scout the area. If a full-scale war breaks out, then, of course, all Immortal Domains will be called."
Varric Combs hesitated for a moment and replied, "I still have some matters to deal with here. Once I finish, I’ll come over to the Crimson Immortal Domain."
The White Jade Star Lord smiled upon hearing Varric’s response, "Good, worthy of a Saint of Thieves, quite the man! When you come over, I’ll treat you to a drink!"
Varric Combs laughed heartily, "Drinking is fine, but you’d better protect your good stuff. If they go missing, don’t blame me..."
