Chapter 2618: Chapter 2618: Am I Being Over-Sensitive?
Carson Flores touched his nose, saying nothing.
In the past three years, to gather various materials for the Slaying Immortal Technique, the group traveled everywhere, making inquiries. Once they found out the target’s location, they would visit uninvited.
Snow Zane wasn’t a bloodthirsty person. She sought vengeance with specific targets, sparing those without grudges. However, her attitude differed greatly towards Sect forces affiliated with the Myriad Immortals Palace.
The Myriad Immortals Palace is the ruler of the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain. The three Immortal Sects of West Prison, along with several subordinate Immortal Monarch forces, naturally govern all of West Prison. Many precious items would naturally be in their hands, prompting Snow Zane to seek them out for the materials needed for the Slaying Immortal Technique.
On one hand, Snow Zane harbored immense hatred toward the Ten Thousand Immortals Hall Master. On the other, these forces, arrogant from their alliance with the Myriad Immortals Palace, were domineering and aggressive, often resorting to threats and violence. Consequently, several Immortal Monarch forces suffered great misfortune, slaughtered until rivers of blood flowed, with their sects largely obliterated, some even razed to the ground.
Ordinary Immortal Sect might endure being strongly coerced by Snow Zane, or extorted for their treasured items, quietly swallowing their rage due to her formidable strength. After all, if the matter were spread around, their sect would lose face.
Immortal Monarch forces, however, would naturally lodge a complaint with higher-level Immortal Sects. Thus, with a little investigation, anyone attentive could deduce someone was targeting the Myriad Immortals Palace forces.
Carson Flores pondered: "Thinking carefully, the Battle Hall Master coming personally might not be such a bad thing."
Snow Zane’s eyes revealed a look of approval: "Yes, the identity of the Battle Hall Master is high enough. Killing him would suffice to draw attention to it."
"There’s nothing here now. You may hide for the time being; otherwise, once the battle begins, I can’t concern myself with you."
Carson Flores didn’t argue, smiling: "Alright, then we’ll keep our distance and watch as Master Zane displays her power!"
As the day of the Ten Thousand Immortals Palace forces’ gathering in West Prison approached, huge Flying Boats appeared over the Black Moon Plain.
Carson Flores and Niall Sinclair sat atop a mountain peak, watching the Flying Boats drift through the sky, their bodies devoid of any life force, resembling two stones.
"People from Malignant Dragon City have arrived."
Niall Sinclair gazed at the massive Flying Boat painted black, adorned with the insignia of a dragon, slowly gliding across the sky, eyes filled with anticipation.
"Since the Battle Hall Master has come, the Lords of Malignant Dragon City and Wind-Thunder City should come as well, right?"
Carson Flores chuckled: "Although the status of the Twelve Immortal Kings is not lower than the Battle Hall Master, the Twelve Immortal Kings belong to external forces, while the Battle Hall is internal. The position of someone at the top demands respect, doesn’t it?"
Niall Sinclair’s eyes sparkled: "If this battle goes smoothly, the entire structure of West Prison might undergo tremendous change..."
Carson Flores smiled at Niall Sinclair: "Your expression seems like you’re really looking forward to it?"
Niall Sinclair admitted frankly: "Indeed, I’m very much looking forward to it, having been working hard for this day for three years."
Carson Flores asked: "Aren’t you worried about harming the innocent?"
Sophie chuckled, her gaze remarkably composed: "Cultivators only have positions, never innocents. But you, you’ve never truly let go, have you?"
Carson Flores froze for a moment: "Oh, what do you mean?"
Niall Sinclair fixed his eyes on Carson Flores, his eyes bright, seemingly probing the deepest depths of Carson Flores’s soul.
"Cultivators walk a path defying heaven itself. Cultivation relies on techniques and resources; techniques don’t fall from the sky, and resources aren’t freely given. It’s all about seizing and reclaiming."
"Exploring a Secret Realm, a cultivator fights not just Demonic Beasts inside, but also others, often thousands entering but only one or two hundred emerging alive. They hold no grudges, much less if those who died were a bit stronger, they’d be the ones killing others instead of being killed. Are they innocent then?"
"You’ve told me about the world where you were born and grew. That world is so lacking in Spiritual Energy that cultivation is nearly impossible, filled with ordinary people, but the deepest imprint was left by the rules of this world."
"These years, we’ve followed Master Zane, seeking all sorts of Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, and killed many people. Though you’ve never openly stopped it, it’s clear you dislike it."
"If you think carefully, with Master Zane’s temperament, she could’ve been far harsher, but because of you, she’s restrained herself considerably, not truly wiping families from existence..."
Carson Flores was startled, realizing the truth. Was that really the case?
He hadn’t noticed it at all.
Now, hearing Niall Sinclair speak, Carson Flores thought more carefully, realizing it might really be true.
Niall Sinclair spoke softly: "Master Zane’s revenge won’t stop because of anyone. If she hadn’t met us, without the Slaying Immortal Technique, she’d have directly obliterated Sect after Sect, annihilating entire families. You should know, driven by hatred, she would certainly do so."
"You may feel burdened by the havoc wreaked following Master Zane, but from another perspective, your presence has inadvertently saved many lives. If you think this way, might you feel better?"
Carson Flores was silent for a while, smiling bitterly: "Have I been too sentimental?"
