Chapter 657: Chapter 657: Bloodbath

Gu Ruinian took the opportunity to snatch the clothes back from Tong Zhijie’s hands.

Tong Zhijie jumped and cursed Wu Na, "Why the hell are you vomiting? You spat all over me."

This was an utterly miserable trip; I shouldn’t have come to Qinghe Bay.

Nothing good happened.

Wu Na pointed at Tong Zhijie and cursed, "Damn you, sneaking into my room like a thief. Are you looking to die?"

And then she cursed Tong Fusheng, "If the upper beam is not straight, the lower beam will be crooked. He learned from you, the shameless old man. How do you father and son have the face to sneak into my room? What were you planning? I was sleeping peacefully, and you come barging in during broad daylight. If this gets out, being drowned in a pig cage would be light punishment for you."

"Hurry up and get out."

As she spoke, she picked up the teacup on the bedside table and threw it at the two of them.

Luckily, the clothes were thick for the winter; if it were summer, she couldn’t even imagine.

Tong Fusheng’s old face turned red.

Tong Zhijie, furious from being scolded, remembered how he often gossiped with Wu Na when he helped out at Pingchuan County’s Wu Ji. Wu Na had turned cold after marrying Gu Ruinian, unwilling to even lend clothes and instead telling them to get out.

"Why so fierce? We are all relatives. Borrowing clothes isn’t like we’re not going to return them."

Tong Zhijie, eyes darting, snatched the clothes back from Gu Ruinian and ran.

Tong Fusheng followed him out of Wu Na and Gu Ruinian’s room.

Gu Ruinian shook with anger, feeling like everyone was bullying him.

"Are you dead?"

Wu Na, while pushing Gu Ruinian, jumped out of bed, slipped on her shoes, and rushed outside.

Despite being pregnant, Wu Na’s fighting capabilities had been honed to a high level in previous struggles with Mrs. Jia, her mother-in-law. Before Tong Zhijie could step out the door, she grabbed his hair and kicked him to the ground.

Then she went on to hit Tong Fusheng.

In the courtyard, Mrs. Gu and Mrs. Wang, who were already in confrontation, heard the commotion from the room and hurried in to support.

Tong Fusheng, a weak scholar, could argue well but was helpless in a real fight.

When Mrs. Wang arrived at Wu Na’s room, she saw Tong Zhijie on the floor and Tong Fusheng being beaten by Wu Na.

Her husband and son were her world, and she couldn’t tolerate anyone bullying them.

Mrs. Wang charged, grabbing Wu Na’s hair.

Wu Na lifted her foot to kick Mrs. Wang, but her belly was in the way, so she could only stomp on Mrs. Wang’s foot.

Mrs. Gu usually didn’t get along with Wu Na, but since Wu Na was pregnant with the Gu family’s child, she felt she had to protect her. Seeing Wu Na losing, Mrs. Gu spread her hands out and slapped Mrs. Wang’s face back and forth.

Mrs. Wang, in a daze from the beating, allowed Wu Na to seize the opportunity to strangle Mrs. Wang’s neck.

Mrs. Gu then grabbed hold of Mrs. Wang’s hair.

The whole room smelled terrible, but neither Mrs. Gu nor Wu Na cared, pinching and pulling at Mrs. Wang almost to the point of passing out.

Tong Zhijie, regaining his senses, saw Mrs. Gu and Wu Na attacking his mother in tandem and charged to kick Wu Na.

Wu Na dodged to protect her belly and was kicked on the leg by Tong Zhijie.

"If anyone harms the baby in my belly, I’ll come for their lives." Wu Na brandished a broom from behind the door and shouted.

In an instant, the scene descended into chaos.

Tong Fusheng stood gaping at the scene, while Gu Ruinian frowned, leaning against the door frame.

"Ruinian, are you dead? You’re watching me and your wife get bullied." Mrs. Gu, having been scratched by Mrs. Wang, shouted at Ruinian in pain.

Gu Ruinian continued to stand nonchalantly.

He thought it was utterly disgraceful to end up fighting and tearing each other apart.

Wasn’t there anything that couldn’t be resolved through negotiation? Yet his family was constantly making a scene; fighting over trivial matters was too disgraceful for him to bear.

Tong Fusheng and Gu Ruinian shared the same thought, exchanging looks of mutual disdain for their respective spouses.

Mrs. Gu, after all, was getting on in years, and Wu Na, despite her fighting prowess, was pregnant. The two soon found themselves at a disadvantage against Mrs. Wang and Tong Zhijie.

Tong Zhijie gave Wu Na a hard shove.

Wu Na fell to the ground, clutching her belly and howling.

"Murder!"

"I’m going to lose the baby in my belly."

Mrs. Gu sat next to Wu Na, scared out of her wits, cursing the Tong Family between sobs and sniffles.

Tong Zhijie’s expression changed.

If Wu Na really lost the baby, would the Gu Family let him off?

Mrs. Wang, frightened, stopped, and Tong Fusheng stood there dumbfounded.

Gu Ruinian remained aloof; he had no feelings for the child in Wu Na’s belly, but wouldn’t mind using this to extort the Tong Family.

"Nana." Gu Ruinian gritted his teeth and helped Wu Na up.

Wu Na, as if grasping onto her pillar of support, leaned on Gu Ruinian and wailed, "Your son is going to be gone; you have to avenge him."

The three from the Tong Family, in fear, turned to run.

"Aren’t you going to catch them? Close the gate and go call people." Mrs. Gu slapped her thigh.

Gu Ruinian got up to chase after them.

Just as the three reached the gate, Mr. Gu and Gu Youtian returned home.

Gu Youtian picked up a stick and beat the three.

A crowd of onlookers gathered at the gate.

The Tong Family crouched in the courtyard, beaten and unable to escape.

"What did the three of them come for?" Mr. Gu asked, holding his nose against the stench.

"Uncle," Tong Fusheng was utterly humiliated, wishing to maintain his demeanor in front of Mr. Gu.

Mr. Gu stared coldly, "Who are you calling uncle?"

Mrs. Gu rushed out, crying, and mumbled the purpose of the three’s visit to their home.

Mr. Gu and Gu Youtian almost couldn’t catch their breath from anger. The eldest should not have married into the Tong Family just because Tong Dajiao was good-looking; both Tong Dajiao and the rest of the Tong Family were troublemakers.

Having suffered from Tong Pandie, the Tong Family then came to cause trouble at the Gu House, was there no justice?

Inside, Wu Na’s cries of pain grew louder, and Gu Ruinian busied himself with calling for a doctor.

Mrs. Gu pointed at Tong Zhijie and Mrs. Wang, accusing them of causing Wu Na’s miscarriage.

Mr. Gu’s vision darkened, and while Gu Youtian didn’t care that his daughter-in-law was hit, he did care about his grandchild being harmed, taking the stick to beat Tong Fusheng and his entourage again.

Gu Youtian vented all his grievances against Tong Huaqiong onto the Tong Family.

The three fled around the courtyard, trying to escape Gu Youtian’s blows.

If Village Chief Liu hadn’t intervened, the three might have ended up sleeping on wooden boards.

The villagers, who knew the inside story, chattered about the event, while Village Chief Liu was quite baffled by the Tong Family’s reasoning. Having been wronged by their daughters, they sought compensation from the Gu Family’s old house.

For Village Chief Liu, neither the old Gu house nor Tong Fusheng’s family held any favor; the two clashing families were a match of steel on steel.

But as a village chief, it was his responsibility to intervene when outsiders were causing trouble.

Moreover, those three came to find trouble with Tong Pandie.

How could that be allowed?

Tong Pandie was not only Tong Huaqiong’s niece, the second-in-command at the pig farm, but also the village children’s teacher’s wife.

Village Chief Liu sent people to call Tong Huaqiong and Tong Pandie.

Tong Huaqiong was speechless upon receiving the news.

The development of the situation was unexpected; Tong Fusheng’s family of three actually went to cause trouble at the Gu Family’s old house.

She could imagine what a battle scene it would be with those two families facing off.

She wasn’t planning to help but would definitely watch the fun unfold.
