Chapter 351: Chapter 349: Beastmen and the Ancestor Totem
Land of the Far North, somewhere.
A group of people gathered together, watching the projected image before them—on the screen, Hilia was smashing the heretic’s self-destruction dream, blow after blow.
It wasn’t until the footage ended that a strange laughter sounded.
"Hehehe, how amusing—your dream of awakening the gods got shattered by someone."
The figure in an icy white robe glanced at the person in a deep blue robe and said blandly, "Heh, your dream of summoning the Sea Successor ended up with someone fishing all your fish away. You don’t even know who did it."
From within the deep blue robe came a bizarre laugh: "At least the one who fished away the Sea Successor was a hidden Legendary Mage. Unlike you, who got crushed by a little girl. Quite a loss, huh? So many years of scheming, and most of it shattered. Hehehe..."
"Hmph, didn’t you lose your god-given Spiritual Object and a Divine Envoy blessed by the gods?"
"Your dream got shattered by a little girl."
"Heh, even the oracle you could have kept disappeared after your Divine Envoy was killed. If you ask me, you might as well merge with the Blood Alliance and join us in worshiping the real God. Roster? Just a fake god, at the end of the day."
"Your dream got shattered by a little girl."
"Damn bastard, is that the only thing you can say?"
"A century’s worth of scheming, destroyed overnight."
"You..."
"Enough." The voice from the shadow sitting at the head sounded, instantly silencing the two.
The shadow was vague and insubstantial, as if it could be dispelled with a wave of the hand, but none of those present dared say anything—even though they were all leaders of the sects.
The shadow spoke calmly, "I called you here, not for you to argue. Some of you came in person, some sent Magic Puppets in disguise; I won’t make a fuss.
"I brought you together to help you achieve your grand ambitions."
Someone raised their hand: "Can we fulfill the grand vision of Lord Evil God Ross from a thousand years ago?"
Boom!
The questioner from the Abyssal Religious Group was blasted away.
The shadow sneered, "Picking trouble? Hah, don’t think I don’t know your real intentions. Someone like you? Not worthy."
The shadow enlarged Hilia’s image and froze it.
He said, "This girl may be the most suitable for our plan. What I want you to do is send people to give her trouble."
The person from Deep Sea Mutual Aid Association asked, "Catch her and bring her to you?"
"No." The shadow shook his head. "Just give her trouble—make her grow quickly."
The Dusk Sect guy frowned: "What do you mean?"
"My goal, the Polar Blood Alliance’s goal, is to look for someone suitable for the god’s descent—a vessel for the god to descend. She’s suitable, but too weak. She can’t bear it yet, so I need you to help her get stronger."
The Polar Blood Alliance member said, "What if she gets strong enough and wipes us all out afterward?"
The shadow replied arrogantly, "She only needs to grow to Tier Six. You’re all Tier Six—are any of you my match?"
No answer.
"It’ll be fine. No matter how strong a Tier Six gets, they’re not my opponent," the shadow continued, "Just like the last time with the Sea Successor and this time with the Abyss Gate—whoever agrees, I will help them realize their dreams."
Someone wanted to speak, seemed to want to point out that the Deep Sea Mutual Aid Association and this time’s Polar Blood Alliance both lost their dreams.
But faced with this mysterious powerhouse—no one knew where this old relic popped up from—they didn’t dare speak up.
The shadow sneered, "You think I don’t know what you’re thinking? Let me ask—did you summon the Sea Successor? Did you summon the Abyss Gate?"
Without waiting for a response, he went on, "You summoned them all, but sadly, neither of you managed to keep them safe."
He shook his head, "Don’t think achieving your dream gives you license to be arrogant. If you hadn’t aimed your targets at someone else’s capital, do you think either of those summons would have worked out?"
The Deep Sea Mutual Aid Association and the Polar Blood Alliance people shut their mouths, eyes down, pretending to be invisible.
This speech got the rest thinking.
"Just give her trouble? Easy."
"Just trouble isn’t enough—we have ways to help her level up fast!"
"Level up fast? That’s just surface, you can’t push anyone above Tier Four quickly, but we could conveniently meet her and directly send her all sorts of resources."
"..."
The shadow watched them debate, then coldly snorted after a while, "Do as you like. But she needs to be whole. God can’t descend into a broken vessel."
...
Kost City, Ista’s contestant hotel.
Hilia and her teammates were carefully watching the match projections for other teams.
"Of the previous draws, except for two strong teams facing off by mistake, every team that scored 3-0 has some real skills."
Hilia stared seriously at the next opponent—the team from the Beastman Empire.
The official name is the Beastman Alliance, but people usually call it the Beastman Empire or Beastman Federation. It’s an alliance formed by other intelligent races besides elves and humans. Unlike the monarchs and emperors of the Empires, or the royal families of the elves, their real rulers are the Racial King Selection Assembly Hall, not the Beast King picked by the King Selection Assembly Hall.
"The Beastman Empire has a special form of magic different from elves and humans, known as ’Ancestor Totem’. Ancestor Totem lets them enter a berserk state, boosting spell attack power by at least 50%. For them... probably 100%," Benovia explained.
Hilia was shocked: "Doubling magic power directly? Such a straightforward and brutal way to enhance..."
Benovia laughed, "If their team has a Shaman, the Ancestor Totem’s effect doubles again. They once took three championships in a row thanks to their Shaman—so the committee ended up making a rule banning Shamans from participating."
With magic power doubled twice, wouldn’t that just crush everyone at the same Tier?
Hilia grumbled, "Since the Beastman Empire’s so strong, why are they still united? Shouldn’t they have dominated the world by now?"
Benovia shook her head, "That I don’t know."
Rose chuckled, "Oh, I know."
Hilia quickly asked, "Why?"
Rose said, "You wonder why the beastmen don’t rule the world despite having Ancestor Totem—actually, it’s the Ancestor Totem that’s kept the beastmen from extinction.
"Three reasons: they’re dumb, they’re reckless, and their internal conflicts are fiercer than their external ones. Thank goodness Ancestor Totem is beastman-only, otherwise they’d all be wiped out. I wonder what the current Beastman Alliance is like—whether the tribes are still fighting nonstop."
Hilia grew curious as well.
"I have to visit the Beastman Empire someday."
