Chapter 345: Chapter 343: Don’t Tempt Fate
"Friends from the Northern Alliance, are you really a vast Empire, and not just a back garden for the heretic Sect?"
Blake casually tossed the corpse of the attacking mage down, letting it fall into the Abyss.
He looked at the mages from the Northern Alliance, his tone full of mockery.
The Tier Six Mages of the Northern Alliance did not laugh with him, their faces pale and green by turns.
Blake laughed loudly: "Don’t tell me, among you, there are Tier Six heretics?"
Normally, the many Tier Six Mages of the Northern Alliance would have immediately refuted him.
But now, they were silent.
They looked at each other, a faint sense of estrangement already arising.
At a time like this, if a real Tier Six traitor appeared...
The consequences would be unimaginable.
Blake said, "To avoid Hilia’s purification being interrupted, I ask the friends from the Northern Alliance to stay at least ten meters away from her."
Ashburn said, "Of course, we’ll watch our own people. Miss Hilia, just focus on your purification."
As if feeling the Abyss Gate’s strength weakening, a mass of demons began rushing out of the gate in a frenzy. Except for Blake, the other mages fought the demons.
Just then, several Magic Missiles flew in from afar, aimed straight at Hilia.
"As expected, they made their move."
Blake raised his hand, a blue hexagram emerging from his palm, rapidly expanding to completely surround Hilia.
Then, he rushed forward directly, colliding head-on with the Magic Missiles.
"Those damn heretics! Only dare to sneak around behind our backs, never brave enough for an open fight."
As a Monarch Knight, Ashburn snorted coldly, left the battlefield, and charged toward where the Magic Missiles came from.
Seeing this, Blake couldn’t help but shake his head. "So reckless."
Fortunately, there were representatives from various countries here, and many Tier Five and Tier Six Mages from the Northern Alliance too, so neither the Sect nor the demons got any chance.
While purifying, Hilia also kept an eye on the situation around her. Seeing Ashburn leave, she looked at Rose and asked, "Lord Rose, will the Sect go all out to stop me?"
"They will. But with so many Tier Six Mages gathered here, they can’t stir up any real trouble." Rose laughed. "The Northern Alliance keeps getting embarrassed; I guess their Monarch is furious now and getting serious."
Once or twice is enough, but three or four times, and then summoning an Abyss Gate right in the Empire’s capital city—if they don’t bring in all their top forces to solve this, the Empire might as well be renamed the Sect afterward.
"But..."
Hilia looked at the many Tier Six Mages around her. Among them, there were six from the Northern Alliance alone. She had never seen so many Tier Six Mages together.
"Did they summon all the Tier Sixes here? If they used to guard important cities, won’t their cities now be left undefended? Won’t the Sect take the chance to infiltrate?"
Rose said, "That’s possible. You can remind the Northern Alliance."
Hilia opened her eyes and looked at Blake. "Mr. Blake, all the lords of the Northern Alliance have come here. Will that leave important cities undefended, giving the Sect an opening to invade? Could you please let them know?"
Blake nodded. "Sure."
He called out directly to the battling Tier Six Mages: "Hey, friends from the Northern Alliance! You’re all here now. Be careful the Sect doesn’t take advantage and destroy the cities you were guarding!"
Gerard, who last night let Adrian keep up the cover, laughed heartily: "Don’t worry, our Northern Alliance defenses don’t need the Holy Court’s concern, they’re just fine!"
After Adrian was controlled, Gerard was the first Tier Six Mage to show up, holding off the Abyss’s first wave of attack, and reportedly received the Monarch’s commendation.
He seemed to have eased from the pain of losing his son and was back to his usual demeanor, except his attacks on the demons were still ruthless.
Sathipheni, hearing Blake’s reminder, also said to the other assembled lords, "My lords, what Lord Blake says makes sense—it can’t be ignored."
Gerard waved it off without concern. "Of course we’re on guard, but if we limit ourselves in a city just to defend, that’s missing the point. Don’t worry, we’re here and we’ve arranged everything. If the Sect does invade because someone didn’t arrange things properly, that’s what they deserve."
The others all nodded in agreement.
Hilia didn’t know why they insisted on staying here—maybe the Monarch of the Northern Alliance had made some deal with them. That was none of her business.
Hilia closed her eyes again and continued purifying.
Time crept by silently.
The demon attacks became more and more intense. All the Tier Six Mages joined the fight.
Among them, several mages tried to approach Hilia in the chaos or deliberately directed attacks at her, but Blake blocked them and struck them down instantly.
Besides that, fighting could also be heard outside the city—it sounded like Ashburn had engaged the heretics.
Just as Rose said, with so many Tier Six Mages protecting things, it was hard for anything to go wrong.
The strength of this Abyss Gate also didn’t allow Tier Seven demons to appear.
So, as the demons’ assault weakened, the Abyss Gate gradually shrank.
A few hours later.
As Hilia slowly gathered back her Purification Skill, the two vortexes that represented the Abyss Gate slowly vanished.
Hilia wiped the sweat from her brow and clapped her hands. "Done! Good thing we didn’t let this evolve into two Subspace entrances connecting to form an Abyss Gate—otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy."
Sathipheni flew down and thanked her. "Thank you so much, Miss Hilia. The Northern Alliance will always remember your kindness—you will forever be our friend."
Hilia waved it off. "No need to be polite. This sort of thing is exactly what the Holy Court Saintess is supposed to do."
Hearing this, Blake smiled too.
He said, "Hilia, I’ll take you back to rest now."
"All right." Hilia nodded.
Sathipheni said, "Miss Hilia, for your safety, we might not release everything that happened here to the public. However, to show our gratitude, we will give you a small gift as a token of thanks."
Hilia said, "No problem, keeping it secret is for the best. I don’t want to be on edge every day, worrying about a sudden heretic attack."
After escorting Hilia back, Blake went to join the Northern Alliance and the other Empire representatives to discuss the aftermath.
But what happened afterward no longer concerned Hilia.
"I’m just a small Tier Three Mage. If I get involved in too much, it’s dangerous! I’d better just rest."
With that, Hilia stopped worrying about the Sect, relaxed, and closed her eyes to begin meditating.
And so it went, all the way till evening.
Benovia brought her some news.
"Hilia, the Principal asked me to tell you: a thousand kilometers from Kost City, in Lord Gerard’s territory, Gerald City, the entire city has lost contact—as if it suddenly vanished."
