Chapter 326: Chapter 324: Gifts from the Holy Maiden Squad
Endless Abyss, Sealed Land.
Rose was chewing on a blade of grass, and as Ethel walked by, Rose lifted his leg and kicked him in the butt.
"Let me ask you, if you bumped into a girl... Hmm, a goddess having her birthday, what would you get her as a gift?"
Ethel shot him a glance, didn’t say a word, and kept on building the Divine Hall.
After all this time, the Divine Hall already looked pretty good, and Ethel was working on the roof.
Seeing he didn’t reply, Rose muttered to himself, "Asking you is basically pointless. I remember you’re single, right? Bet you’ve never gifted a goddess before."
Ethel snorted, "Nobody dares accept my gift."
"Oh? Not even the Moon God?" Rose asked, piqued.
Ethel said blandly, "I only gave the most beautiful goddess a Golden Apple."
"The most beautiful goddess? That’s not the Moon God?"
"Whoever it is, it’s none of my business. I just deliver it—after that, it’s up to the Moon God, Goddess of Nature, and Goddess of Destiny to decide for themselves."
Ethel sneered, "And the funny thing is, those three idiots actually fought over the title of ’the most beautiful goddess,’ tore the earth apart, created a forbidden zone for life. Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous."
Rose raised an eyebrow, "So you’re the guy who gifted the Golden Apple, huh? Why didn’t you give it to the Wisdom Goddess or Ice God?"
"They couldn’t care less about those empty titles. If you want my advice on what to gift—if it’s multiple goddesses, Golden Apple, let them sort it out. If it’s just one goddess, just make up a willow wreath or something."
He said this as he casually tossed a massive stone onto the top of the Divine Hall, then turned back to Rose with a mocking grin: "The mighty Evil God Rose isn’t seriously worried about gifting some mortal girl, is he?"
Rose snapped, "Can you shut up for once?"
Ethel got angry too, "Kicking my butt out of nowhere, so rude—you think I’m afraid of you?"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
After the smoke settled, Rose sat on a Sea God-branded stool deep in thought.
"Maybe I’ll just play dumb."
"This girl says she only recognizes September 4th as her birthday. Maybe I should just wait and see, around then it’ll be the one-year anniversary of us meeting anyway, right?"
Rose was fuzzy on when Hilia summoned him—was it July or August, maybe September? Never paid attention to the date back then, didn’t know her birthday either.
But now...
Ethel crawled out from under his butt, saw Rose still deep in thought, and mocked him, "Looks like that girl’s pretty important to you, Rose. Instead of worrying about all that nonsense, why not let her experience a God’s Domain? Make it unforgettable. For mortals, isn’t a god everything they’ve ever dreamed of?"
"God’s Domain? Unforgettable?"
Rose slapped his thigh, "Got it!"
Ethel had no idea what Rose had figured out, just snorted and went back to hauling bricks.
Rose didn’t care, still caught up in his thoughts.
Unforgettable memory, God’s Domain...
And in his mind, a plan was starting to form—a plan Hilia probably would never forget.
...
Kost City, the next day.
Technically, today was Hilia’s birthday.
She didn’t choose to go watch the competition today.
Because Rose suddenly sent her an urgent upgrade plan.
According to the plan, she shouldn’t go anywhere these two days—just stay in her room to train, boost her power, and get ready for the coming Sect actions.
And also get ready for the trip to the Land of the Far North once the tournament was over.
Hilia didn’t say much, just nodded seriously, then got up and went straight into meditation.
Before leaving, Benovia asked, "Hilia, aren’t you going to the competition?"
Hilia shook her head, "Nope."
"Alright, want me to bring you lunch?"
"Please, thank you."
"Got it—oh right, you free tonight?" Benovia asked.
Hilia recalled Rose’s evening schedule, "Should be, why?"
"Oh, it’s just since we made it to the next round successfully, nobody celebrated. I thought it’d be nice to take everyone out for a little celebration, grab some food."
Hilia nodded, "Sounds good."
"So it’s settled."
"Mhm!"
...
The day passed quickly while training. Almost the whole time, Hilia kept her eyes closed meditating, harmonizing her spiritual power with Rose according to his instructions.
Although Hilia had no idea why she was supposed to train this way, she felt her spiritual power seemed to be growing, so she didn’t ask anything.
Apart from meditating, she’d also step out for air, stand by the inn balcony and look down at the busy streets below.
Just like that, it was suddenly 7 pm.
Actually, it should’ve been dusk in Huijin City, but here in Kost it was still bright daylight—the sun hung high overhead, wouldn’t set for at least two more hours.
But nobody in the Holy Maiden Squad cared.
Benovia and the others headed out early, then contacted Hilia.
"Quick, come over! The address is... we’ve already arrived!"
"Okay, I’m on my way."
After replying, Hilia checked in with her mentor, then left the inn and headed to a nearby restaurant.
Following Benovia’s instructions, she went up to the second floor, found a private room.
When she opened the door, Benovia and Encore stood on either side, holding up bouquets.
"Hilia, happy birthday!"
Hilia froze.
She stared blankly at the room, which had clearly been decorated with care.
All around the dining table were spell-lifted flowers hovering in midair, spelling out ’Hilia’ and ’Happy Birthday.’
Doris’s spell [Fire of the Singularity] was used to add sparkle to the ceiling, paired with Phil’s magic control keeping demonic qi floating under the roof, together creating the look of a night sky.
The curtains were drawn tight, making the room feel like nighttime.
The girls had also prepped cake, bouquet, cards, etc. As for the food, that hadn’t been served yet—probably waiting for her to arrive.
Benovia handed her a floral wreath and a card: "This is your blessing card from me—wear it and you’ll feel happy every day!"
The blessing card held runes—runes for calming the mind. The magic for the rune came from the card itself, a special potion-based card made with magic crystal and other materials.
"Thank you, Benovia."
Encore stepped forward and gave her a golden apple, saying, "Legend says only the most beautiful goddess can have the Golden Apple—so here’s my gift, a Golden Apple, for the most beautiful Hilia."
"You all are more beautiful than me." Hilia blushed a little, accepting the gold-colored apple, dyed with special potion. "Thank you, Encore."
Phil spoke shyly, "I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I got you a Pure Heart. Wishing you’ll always stay as pure as a Pure Heart."
"I like everything you gave—thanks, Phil!"
Doris came up last, snorted, then said, "Seeing you wear ordinary clothes every day—so outdated! Here’s my gift: a magic robe made from Dream Weaving Spider Silk. No runes added yet—add your own later."
Dream Weaving Spider Silk, a high-grade material with awesome magic compatibility and toughness, works with almost any other material, and lets you engrave runes freely without worrying about ruining the clothes.
"That’s a bit too precious..."
"You’re taking the others’ gifts, but not mine? It’s only a few hundred gold coins, nothing too precious."
"Alright, thanks, Doris."
"Hmph!"
Doris raised her head, acting all haughty, but couldn’t stop the grin tugging at her lips.
