Chapter 1113: Chapter 1113: Having Kids Just for Fun

(Thanks to Yuejie Zeyan and DRDER for their monthly ticket encouragement)

"Oh my God, then when you’re treating patients, isn’t it just like guessing blindfolded?"

After listening to Xu Yino’s explanation, Qiaoqiao asked in surprise.

Liu Banxia nodded with a smile, "That’s pretty much the case. For many patients, especially those with difficult illnesses, we really are just guessing blindfolded."

"But our guesswork is a bit technical. We analyze each symptom of the patient one by one, finding either connections or independencies among them."

"A more appropriate term would be unraveling a thread from a cocoon. We try to truly understand the problems occurring in the patient’s body, identifying the real causes as opposed to random incidents."

"That way, we can grasp the most critical part and help the patient get cured. Like this patient, how did her pneumonia develop?"

"We’re currently giving some antibiotics and doing some cultures. If we manage to treat her pneumonia, it proves that it was sporadic, just happening along the way."

"If it’s not cured, or if the symptoms persist, it indicates there are more complex causes that need our attention."

"And regarding her anemia, it could be a blood-related illness, or it might be her current condition due to coughing up blood. If we manage to control her coughing, and her tests still show anemia, then we’ll need to find the cause for that."

"It’s still blind guessing, maybe just with some direction," Qiaoqiao said.

"Yes, that’s exactly how it is. But while we’re guessing, we can gradually clear our thoughts, distinguish priorities, and help the patient recover."

"What if you still can’t figure it out during the diagnosis?" Qiaoqiao continued to ask.

"Then it’s quite unfortunate; the patient will keep being troubled by the symptoms," Liu Banxia replied quite honestly.

"A hospital, though it’s a place for treatment, doesn’t mean that every condition can be diagnosed quickly, or that every condition can be treated."

"Sometimes, many symptoms are intertwined and concealed. In the end, you might only get a rough idea during an autopsy, and even then, it’s not always accurate."

"Why?" This time it was Tang Feifei asking.

"Autopsies clearly describe the cause of death, but that doesn’t necessarily equal the cause of the illness," Xu Yino said with a smile.

"Some very special illnesses have complications in the later stages, and these complications become the main cause of death. Let’s have Teacher Liu explain; I’m not expressing it well."

"Haha, aren’t you usually quite articulate? What happened now?" Liu Banxia said with a chuckle.

"Oh, come on, what’s there to show off? Just say it like a story, it’s pretty fun," Qiaoqiao urged him.

"It’s simple, like with our car tire, if it got punctured by a nail, it’s stable for now," Liu Banxia said with a smile.

"But if there is ice on the road when we’re turning and this nail affects the tire’s performance, causing a severe skid that leads to an accident, and the car ends up as a pile of scrap."

"Even if we meticulously analyze the cause and see that nail at the scene, we can’t determine if it’s the initial cause."

"That’s roughly the idea. Maybe such a description has some loopholes, but sometimes the cause of the illness is just really hard to trace."

"At that point, a more detailed autopsy is needed, which is not only costly but also time-consuming, a burden that not every family can bear."

"Oh, after all this talk, you might as well say someone bumped their head and then had a brain hemorrhage. When they were dazed, they got hit by a car and then died," Qiaoqiao said.

"No one knew they knocked their head, and the footage only shows them fine, assuming the brain hemorrhage happened after the crash, right?"

Liu Banxia nodded with a smile, giving a thumbs up, "That’s why you’re my wife, naturally a good candidate for a doctor. You two should learn from her; see how well she explains things."

"Of course, my dear mentor," Xu Yino said seriously.

"Gosh, you guys are so annoying. Want to try some black chicken meat and broth? You might want to add a bit more salt." Qiaoqiao said, offering her pot of stewed black chicken.

"Teacher’s wife, is it good?" Liu Yiqing asked curiously.

"Why don’t you taste it yourself?" Qiaoqiao said, serving a bowl to each of them.

"Are you really full?" Liu Banxia asked.

"Made too much, I can only eat about half a pot," Qiaoqiao said with a frown.

"No worries about the leftovers, of course they’ll be eaten. We figured that since it’s a stew, if there’s too little, the nutrients might not come out," Peng Xiuqin said.

"Sigh... just for these two little things. Otherwise, I’d still be enjoying spicy food and drink," Qiaoqiao sighed.

"They’re sleeping so soundly again this time, why not just have a good cry?" Liu Banxia also murmured.

"They’re really well-behaved, if anyone should cry, it’s you," Qiaoqiao shot him a glance.

Your own kids, only you can complain about them, others can’t. Liu Banxia? Who’s he? Even half a stake in their upbringing doesn’t count.

A pot of peanut, red date, and black-bone chicken soup, Qiaoqiao ate half of it, leaving the rest to be shared by the ladies.

Black-bone chicken is quite a good ingredient, very beneficial for women’s health.

Qiaoqiao didn’t find it tasty, but Xu Yino and the others thoroughly enjoyed it.

While chatting, the first child puckered his lips, pulling his soft little voice and started crying loudly.

Liu Banxia found it amusing and dashed over.

He checked first; the little guy had pooped.

Currently, it’s still the excretion period of meconium; by tomorrow or the day after, it’ll turn into regular poop.

Liu Banxia served him meticulously, almost calling an obstetrician for a follow-up consultation. After tidying up everything, he carefully held the first child in his arms, supporting the neck and head.

A newborn baby has very soft flesh and bones, especially the cervical spine, which must be protected well.

The small body wrapped in a blanket, as Liu Banxia held him, he really stopped crying.

Liu Banxia was so pleased that he couldn’t stop smiling.

"Qiaoqiao, why isn’t the second baby crying?" Liu Banxia asked.

Qiaoqiao looked at him with a mixed expression, "You’re hoping for both to cry together? Though it’s quite fun, if the second baby cries, the first child will surely cry. But when the first child cries, it’s up to the second baby’s mood."

"And there’s something else; when they lie together, hand in hand, they fall asleep quickly. That’s what Sister Huang said; they have a body memory, knowing their brother or sister is beside them gives them reassurance."

As soon as Qiaoqiao finished speaking, the second baby started crying. As for the first child who was lying in Liu Banxia’s arms? Even though just off duty, he had to express his opinion.

"See? That’s how fun it is," Qiaoqiao said happily, and then began to tidy up the second baby.

Each of the couple held one baby, both faces displayed sheer happiness.

"Indeed, people say having kids is for fun. You two are just doing it for play," Tang Feifei remarked.

"I really find it amusing, especially when holding their little bodies," Qiaoqiao replied.

"By the way, you haven’t held one yet, wanna try? Like I said, once you hold the second baby, you can bring home all kinds of awards like Hundred Flowers and Golden Rooster."

"Winning or not is secondary. Teach me how to hold; I’ll hold for a while," Tang Feifei suddenly got excited.

"It’s not that complicated; support the neck and head, the little body is light, not hard at all," Qiaoqiao said as she handed the second baby over to Tang Feifei.

"Shall we switch? I want to hold my daughter too," Liu Banxia suggested.

"Oh, they’re your own kids, can’t you hold them anytime?" Tang Feifei was anxious.

She couldn’t casually switch positions now; her body was rigid, needing to maintain this posture without moving. Because the second baby was content in this pose, neither crying nor fussing.

"Hehe, how about taking a photo now and posting it? The headline ’Tang Feifei secretly has a baby with a mysterious man,’ wouldn’t that be explosive?" Qiaoqiao asked with a grin.

Everyone in the room found it comical but helpless, sometimes this girl’s thoughts really connect with unforeseen ideas.

"You’re worried my scandals aren’t juicy enough? Gotta make them explosive," Liu Banxia said helplessly.

"That’s how it is, how true are those celebrity news stories anyway? Aren’t they just for hype? We’re helping Feifei with it," Qiaoqiao asserted seriously.

She was firm, like it’s true.

"Next time I’ll take your baby for a few days, I’ve decided. I’ll come here for tips when I take on mother roles," Tang Feifei said.

"Haha, that’d be great; we’re just worried we don’t have anyone to help with the kids," Qiaoqiao said joyfully.

"Hey... I’ve noticed, Teacher Liu and his wife truly are a loving couple; their perspectives are so unique," Liu Yiqing remarked with a sigh.

She really marveled, just like their previous scandal; Qiaoqiao didn’t take it to heart at all. Someone else, even knowing it’s untrue, might have asked?

Not Qiaoqiao.

"My wife is that remarkable. But the real fun with these two little ones will be when they grow as big as Doudou; right now, it’s not quite there," Liu Banxia said.

"Yeah, I really hope they grow up quickly," Qiaoqiao nodded in agreement.

What could others say? The couple’s thoughts are so uniquely understood.

While chatting, there was a knock at the door.

Liu Yiqing hurried to open the door, looking at the person coming in, Liu Banxia was slightly taken aback, somewhat surprised.
