Chapter 1106: Chapter 1106: New Parents

Liu Banxia was genuinely happy, even though his drinking capacity had greatly improved with the system enhancing his body, he ended up completely drunk.

Anyway, he had no idea how he got to Qiaoqiao’s hospital room. When he opened his eyes, he was already there.

He awoke from thirst, only remembering that the dinner was really delicious, even the small pickled vegetables on the table were so flavorful.

First, he took out a bottle of pure water, which seemed a bit small. If one bottle wasn’t enough, he’d just down another one.

After gulping down two bottles of ice water, he felt refreshed.

He reached for his phone and checked the time: a little past three in the morning.

Qiaoqiao was sleeping soundly on the bed, and he wondered if she had woken up in the middle or eaten anything.

Having children is truly a physically exhausting affair. In the past, Qiaoqiao was always energetic when they went out to play, but now these two little ones had defeated her.

He approached the two little ones, who were also sleeping sweetly.

This might count as the pre-dawn quietness of taking care of little babies.

At present, they still haven’t adapted to the outside environment, maintaining the habits from mommy’s belly, sleeping for long periods. Once they slowly adjust and open their eyes, that’s when things will get hectic.

The two little ones lay side by side, looking small. Liu Banxia reached out to touch them, worried he might damage their skin.

How could these two little ones be so lovable? After seeing them, any discomfort for Liu Banxia vanished completely.

No headaches, dry mouth, all those hangover feelings were gone.

"The heck, you scared the daylights out of me; why didn’t you turn on the light?"

Liu Banxia was admiring them, when Qiaoqiao’s soft voice startled him.

"Awake? Did you eat anything?" Liu Banxia hurried over.

"I fed them once and then slept soundly till now. Giving birth to them was so tiring," Qiaoqiao said.

"You jerk, you were having fun while I suffered. I’m hungry; my stomach feels empty. What can I eat? Where’s everyone else? Why is it just you here?"

"I just checked, mom and Auntie Tong are on the couch outside. What do you want to eat? I’ll get you something. I’ll head to the kitchen; there should be something prepared for you," Liu Banxia quickly said.

"Then don’t turn on the light, keep it quiet so as not to wake them," Qiaoqiao said.

Liu Banxia tiptoed to the kitchen and found a small stew pot on the stove. Lifting the lid, it was filled with lean meat porridge.

It was still warm, probably they hadn’t slept long.

This indeed was the perk of the VIP hospital room; it feels just like home, the only downside is the cost is a bit higher.

"Amazing, it should be Auntie Tong’s porridge. My mom doesn’t have this skill. Let me taste it first," Liu Banxia said and scooped himself a big spoonful.

The warm porridge was very tasty, with lean meat and it seemed some other seafood too, although he couldn’t quite identify it.

"Give me a bite quickly. You can’t eat all of it," Qiaoqiao hurriedly said.

"Hehe, it’s really delicious," Liu Banxia said and then fed Qiaoqiao a spoonful.

This porridge was indeed very well-made, a proper postpartum meal. Though it tasted a bit bland, it couldn’t be helped. Too much salt would make the babies suffer.

Qiaoqiao was really ravenous, eating mouthful after mouthful, eventually feeling unsatisfied until she took the spoon herself to eat.

"Qiaoqiao is awake. How do you feel? Still uncomfortable?" At this moment, Peng Xiuqin also came in.

"Just woke up, I feel normal now. Doctor Huang praised me, saying I’m amazing, though the second baby was a bit troublesome, not wanting to come out obediently," Qiaoqiao said.

"After giving birth to the first child, there wasn’t much energy left, that’s the tough part," Peng Xiuqin said with a smile.

"The porridge is made from hotel-brought ingredients, and your Auntie Tong cooked it before sleeping. If it tastes good, eat more; it’s the time for recovering your strength,"

Qiaoqiao nodded, "Mom, have you looked at the two little ones? I sneaked a peek; they’re just so cute."

Peng Xiuqin chuckled; they actually studied the two little babies when they returned, everyone finding them adorable.

These are family babies, no need to worry about future concern; right now, they are just very cute.

Qiaoqiao finished eating but couldn’t sleep, just watching her two babies.

Liu Banxia, on the other hand, felt the porridge should not be wasted, so the remaining half pot went into his stomach.

The porridge was indeed flavorful, the lean meat cooked to a tender state, though he couldn’t quite manage it himself.

"Wah... Wah..."

Before Liu Banxia could wash the pot, one of the little ones started crying with all their might. The other wouldn’t be left out and joined in the commotion.

"Oh... no doubt about it, the second baby started it," Qiaoqiao said with a bitter face.

"They must be hungry. Let’s feed the second baby first, if not, they’ll all be screaming. I have to eat more, otherwise they won’t get enough. I’ll just get a little chubby, and later I’ll work out with Yanzi,"

Qiaoqiao muttered, lying down comfortably on the hospital bed.

"Mom, you go hold the second baby," Liu Banxia said.

"Why are you so cautious? You’re a doctor, you know," Peng Xiuqin said with a laugh.

It’s unclear whether the second baby was genuinely hungry or took after the mom, but once placed in Qiaoqiao’s arms, they calmed down instantly. After that, when the first child was held, they also became well-behaved.

"Qiaoqiao’s awake, huh? Had some porridge yet? Anything else you want to eat? I’ll call them to prepare it right away," Auntie Tong said as she walked in.

"Thanks, Auntie Tong, the porridge was delicious," Qiaoqiao replied with a big smile.

Auntie Tong was taken aback, for it was the first time she had seen Qiaoqiao smiling at her since they’d known each other. Even though Liu Banxia had smoothed things over, it had only allowed them to coexist peacefully.

"Auntie Tong, the porridge is really something. Qiaoqiao drank more than half the pot, and I finished the rest," Liu Banxia said.

"If you like it, we’ll make a different kind of porridge tomorrow. Right now, you need easily digestible food for the babies; otherwise, Qiaoqiao won’t hold up," Auntie Tong said with a smile.

"I’m just thinking about your meals—that was a maternity meal," Qiaoqiao grumbled.

"But am I great or what? I’ve given birth to both a boy and a girl. Actually, during the labor, I thought I wanted to murder you,"

Qiaoqiao’s words made everyone laugh. Just after leaving the delivery room, she was furious with Liu Banxia. But now, she’d already forgotten the pain and was thinking about having another child.

"Not only did you carry them well, but you also delivered them well—first our son, then our daughter," Liu Banxia said.

Qiaoqiao scrunched her nose, "Why’s that? I kind of regret it; wouldn’t it be great for the daughter to be the older sister to take care of her brother?"

"Oh no, this little rascal already has so many people doting on him. If he had a sister to spoil him too, he’d be out of control, and we’d be summoned to the school every day as parents."

"It’s perfect now, with Doudou managing him from above and his sister needing his care from below; it’ll nurture his sense of responsibility from a young age."

"As for our daughter, a little more spoiling doesn’t hurt. Daughters are meant to be cherished; she’s my little princess,"

Qiaoqiao pouted, "I knew long ago you adore daughters. Eventually, they both need to be close to me. By the way, have you decided on their names?"

"Haha, we don’t need to worry about that—let my dad and father-in-law figure it out. My bet is they won’t sleep much tonight, busy coming up with names," Liu Banxia said, chuckling.

"They probably won’t. They’ve had too much to drink, and here you are, celebrating while Qiaoqiao endured such pain," Peng Xiuqin said.

"Hehe, I only remember the first half. Although there are some vague memories of the second half, I can’t recall much," Liu Banxia said sheepishly.

"You were really something, holding Old Qiu by the shoulder, calling him an in-law, and even planning to have a wedding for Doudou and the first child in a few days," Peng Xiuqin said.

Liu Banxia felt embarrassed. There seemed to be a little of that, but his memory mainly recalls having a good time drinking.

Qiaoqiao found it hilarious, "Why were you in such a rush? Who knows if the first child will have that fate? Doudou is quite a beauty."

"Mom, I didn’t do anything too outrageous, right?" Liu Banxia asked.

"Nothing else, just a bit aggressive with the drinking. We almost gave you a hangover treatment after you got back, but you seemed to sleep soundly, so we left you alone," Peng Xiuqin said.

Liu Banxia sighed inwardly. There’s no doubt his drunken antics got captured as blackmail by these people.

He really was just too happy, even now still savoring that cheerful feeling and wanting to chuckle on his own.

The two little ones didn’t eat much, often dozing off while eating. Qiaoqiao then put them down next to the bed, letting them lie side by side.

Despite Liu Banxia’s reluctance to handle them, Qiaoqiao wasn’t the least bit afraid.

"It’s going to be tough for Qiaoqiao, feeding them every three or so hours," Auntie Tong said.

"Unlike just one baby, there’s some milk stored. Both of them can eat quite a bit; they’ll keep Qiaoqiao busy. When they grow a bit older, we’ll have to supplement with some formula."

Liu Banxia nodded, "We’ll need to find some other things for them to eat and drink, or else my wife will be too exhausted."

That really is a concern, taking care of the babies while ensuring the wife isn’t neglected.

Even though the two little ones didn’t look very big, that’s because they were twins, naturally appearing smaller than other babies.

But thanks to good nutrition during pregnancy, they weren’t much smaller at all.

Despite this, Liu Banxia just hovered nearby watching intently, still too scared to touch them for fear of waking them up.

As rookie parents, for now, Liu Banxia wasn’t as competent as Qiaoqiao.
