Chapter 189: Did... he just...

‎The grinning creature suddenly raised one of it’s hands and swung it at the side of the airship.

‎BANG!

‎The airship instantly shattered into five distinct pieces the moment the creature struck it, disorienting and spewing everyone out miles above sea level.

‎Thankfully, since the Remea continent was an archipelagic continent, they were falling towards the sea and not the land. Even though, almost everyone tried as much as they could to slow down their descent, except for that one person.

‎Damon’s limp and unconscious body fell towards the sea like a meteor falling through the atmosphere. It took quite a few seconds of falling uncontrollably before four figures simultaneously swerved and change directions mid air, angling their bodies to fall rapidly towards Damon.

‎"What the hell happened to him?!" Dion who hadn’t been in the cockpit shouted.

‎"That thing targeted him specifically!" Aric replied. The other two falling towards Damon were Rose and Anastasia.

‎"Shit!" Dion cursed, shooting strings at Damon, hoping to catch him, but the strings while incredible strong, fast, and tensile, were too light for the current situation. The wind was simply blowing them away before they could reach Damon.

‎Ultimately, Damon was reaching closer to the sea and they were already far away to reach him.

‎BOOM!

‎Two jets of incandescent flames ignited from Rose’s soles, propelling her forwards. She turned into a streak of pale gold just as Damon sunk into the water.

‎Still, Rose didn’t stop, she fully intended on reaching into the water and dragging him out.

‎However, just a few meters away from the surface of the water, an annihilating black beam fell directly on where Damon had sunk.

‎BOOM!

‎The force of the beam striking the water threw Rose backwards violently. She skidded atop the water surface for quite a long distance before she sunk.

‎"Hahahahahahaha! The vile human is dead!" The creature cackled, floating above the spot Damon had sunk.

‎Dion, who was still falling paled considerably.

‎W-what?"

‎Opening his mouth, like a marionette, Dion’s jaw moved up and down repeatedly. But no sound escaped from his mouth.

‎For a short second, millions of thoughts ran through his mind. It was only after that he realized what had happened that he opened his mouth and screamed.

‎"You bastaaaaard!"

‎BOOOOOOOM!

‎Dion’s desperate voice was quickly drowned out by the large incandescent explosion that suddenly erupted at the cackling creature.

‎Next to Dion, Anastasia was also falling through the sky. Because her face was expressionless, no one knew what was going on in her mind or what she was feeling.

‎...but if someone looked closely. They’d see her fists clenched tightly. So tightly that they were shaking.

‎Staring at the scene for a short second, Delilah gritted her teeth and turned her head to the side even as she continued falling.

‎She couldn’t watch the scene any longer. Though her head was usually always clear, at this moment her mind was a mess. Many thoughts crossed her mind as she wondered...

‎’Did Damon just die?’

‎"Noooooo!" Aric screamed his lungs out as he watched the scene.

‎On the other hand, unlike the other two, Elsa’s eyes never left the screen. Out of the others, she was the only one that didn’t take her eyes off where the dark beam had struck.

‎Like a statue, her eyes remained fixed on that spot. Elsa’s mind was completely dried, multiple thoughts ran through her head.

‎She couldn’t comprehend, process, grasp, what was happening. But she understood one thing. Did Damon just die?

‎’Good riddance.’ She thought, as a subtle smile appeared on her face.

‎"...just w-hat?" Calum was at a short for words at what just happened.

‎Fabian’s expression meanwhile, turned grim at the prospect of Damon having died. ’I have not defeated him yet.’ he thought. Annoying as the unruly prince was, Fabian had never wished for him to die.

‎So was the same for Alistair who continued to stare at the scene frozen in shock. Off all things, he never expected Damon to have died. Even though he knew Damon disliked him and he also kind of disliked the fallen prince, he had genuinely started to accept him as a rival. So it was quite shocking that Damon was dead, just like that.

‎Not only just these people, everyone falling, especially the students, quite witnessed the scene. Under everyone’s eyes, they watched as Damon’s body slowly disappeared inside the water, and how the black beam annihilated that entire place.

‎-----------

‎Rose couldn’t comprehend what happened, all she saw was a black beam falling right on top of where Damon had sunk in, before she was violently thrown back.

‎While she drifted through the water, her thought process slowly reconstructed what had happened, and then came realization.

’Did... he just die?’

‎Rose felt a surge of myriad of emotions. Anger, rage, despair, fear, anxiety, and many other similar emotions. But the most glaring emotion of all, was loss. Rose felt as if a part of her had been gone forever, and that loss, fueled her blind rage, she saw nothing but red.

‎Rose’s entire body turned incandescent. The water around her evaporated in an instant as she shot out of the water.

‎She reached the cackling creature almost instantly. Rose extended her hands at the creature and fired a concentrated concentration of incandescent flames.

‎BOOM!

‎The creature was completely engulfed in the explosion. However, an explosive shockwave dispersed the flames, revealing the grinning face of the unscathed creature.

‎The creature’s hand shot at Rose’s incandescent figure and caught her in its grasp. Even though the skin around its hand was visibly melting, it was also regenerating at absurd at an even faster speed.

‎By this time, almost everyone had fallen into the water, except for two students who had abilities tied to telekinesis.

‎"Ah, I see now." The creature said to Rose in its shrill overlapping voice as she struggled in its grasp. "You look quite a lot like that foolish human." Even though the darkwalker possessing the Naga beast couldn’t quite tell difference between humans, the resemblance between Damon and Rose was evident for all to see.

‎As the grinning creature continued to hold Rose in his grasp, it suddenly disappeared from it’s spot just as a red streak passed through the space it had been.

‎"Severing jet wheel."

‎Anastasia’s figure came to an abrupt stop as the target of her attack suddenly disappeared and reappeared behind her. Anastasia twisted mid air and attacked towards the creature once more, but the creature once again shifted, before effortlessly catching Anastasia in its other arm.

‎"Hahahahaha, another foolish human!" the creature cackled. "You two will be the first to follow after the hi...."

‎Te creature’s sentence was cut off as two figures jumped towards him.

‎"Shadow drill!!"

"Final thrust!!"

‎Bang!

‎The creature turned and bitch slapped Aric and his shadow drill using its snake tail, before it wrapped it’s tail around Alistair’s body holding him mid air.

‎The gap in strength was simply too much that the group could do nothing against it. In truth, the creature could simply kill them all anytime it wished. It only delayed to make despair take root in their soul.

‎To it’s surprise though, while they had despair in their eyes earlier, the moment it killed that pesky little human, the despair in these two female humans it had in it’s hands faded entirely, and turned into rage.

‎No matter, it would kill all these humans offspring right here. It was a pity the other races weren’t here, but this would at least cripple the the future of one race.

‎However, just as it solidified it’s will to kill them. It suddenly lost feeling in its arms, and in its tail.

‎"What...."

‎"Forgive me, your highness, I was too late."

‎A red haired man floated above the sea, a grim frown marring his face. Rose, Alistair, and Anastasia who were held in the creature’s clutches, were now floating suspended behind the red haired man.

‎The creature’s hands and tail meanwhile, fell off its body and into the sea. The creature didn’t even let out a whimper. It had transcended something as fleeting as mere pain. And even though this wasn’t its real body, it’s powers had influenced the body enough, and the arms were already regenerating.

As for its tail, since the creature had already reached the Delta rank, it enforced it will, and forced this body to grow into two legs, in place of its snake tail.

‎The red haired man quickly assessed the situation, his face sorrowful, before turning to Rose’s incandescent figure.

‎"I’m sorry for your loss."

"Kill it." Anastasia’s chilling voice echoed through the air.

"As you wish, your highness." The red haired man curtsied.

‎On that day to the world, Damon Darkfell had died.
