Chapter 2134: Playing With Food
Beatrice froze in place as she had just thrown up. It was expected. She had never had her stomach this full before, and the stress and fear she was going through now was just unimaginable. To watch Samantha and Arlo both fighting two unwinnable fights, and against galactic horrors nonetheless, she couldn’t feel anything but hopelessness.
The one standing behind her was an absolute monster, and she knew it. She might look like a regular harmless alien, but those burning eyes said otherwise. Beatrice could sense all of the countless types of magic burning inside Merlin’s body, and to her, she looked far more horrifying than even Arad. He was just dark, pure, and endless darkness. But Merlin was a zoo, a titanic cage full of deadly monsters all ready to explode out like a torrent.
Beatrice wiped her lips and then smiled. Throwing up had made her feel just a little bit better, and now she could focus. "Pre-written? You mean tried and tested, certified by the absolute best mages to make sure it works." Her armor flashed with lightning and light, and her torso twisted, her muscles all exploded into action in the blink of an eye.
Merlin was floating right behind Beatrice, so close that her breasts touched the back of Beatrice’s head. A hit should be easy, and instead of a backhand, Beatrice went in with an elbow, and not just any unarmed attack; a sharp, six-inch-long blade emerged from her elbow to cut Merlin’s guts open.
The blade hit, and it cleaved Merlin’s stomach open in the blink of an eye. Blood splashed everywhere, yet Beatrice frowned, having not sensed a single speck of resistance. As the blood splashed toward Beatrice’s face, Merlin’s corpse disappeared into glass shards, and her true body emerged from the sun haze on the snow’s surface.
"A simple illusion spell. Did you really think that as a mage, I’d get that close to you?" Merlin was already a few tens of meters away, looking toward the bloodied Beatrice with a smug smile on her face, looking like a white wraith of death floating on the snow.
Beatrice wiped the blood off her face and glared at it. "This... isn’t blood."
"It is blood, goat’s blood. We put it as a material component so it can splash out and blind the attacker." Merlin replied as she pointed at Beatrice, her pink-painted nails sparking with magic. "That helmet protected your eyes."
"A Magicarft tech. It uses magic to compress air and shoot it at projectiles coming toward the face using a compact supercomputer for the targeting system." Beatrice leaned forward, as if taking a standing running stance. "It can also do this."
At that moment, lightning sparked from Beatrice’s legs as she cast a powerful magical current downward toward the coils in her legs, and then used the same current to generate a powerful magnetic field, which made her legs move thousands of times faster and stronger than they could have ever done.
Before Merlin could even react to that speed, Beatrice’s foot was already flying toward her face, and it hit with an earth-shattering shockwave that blasted all of the snow away. Beatrice was aiming for an instant kill, so the head was the only option. But... what she saw wasn’t a headless Merlin but nothing. Merlin’s entire body was sent flying back at blinding speed, and her face wasn’t even injured.
"A forcefield?!" Beatrice growled, and Merlin spun in the air, and then flew into the sky without even slowing down. "I wet myself a bit... that speed was like that of Nina; it reminded me of the day she kicked me so hard that I shat my intestines out."
While the strength and weight weren’t there, the speed and explosive acceleration were indeed there, and it only made Merlin realize just how monstrous Nina was.
Merlin smiled and slowly moved her hand, causing Beatrice to flinch and jump several tens of meters back. Merlin giggled, "Don’t be so scared, little girl. I’m not going to hurt you." She reached between her breasts, and from that gap, she produced a massive, two-meter-long steel staff.
"Where did you pull that out from?" Beatrice was so confused that she growled out loud, and Merlin grabbed one of her breasts and pulled slightly to the side. "Do you see this tattoo I got? It is an engraved spell; we wizards use them a lot."
"By the way..." Merlin looked at Beatrice with an excited smile. "I use invisible ink, so you won’t be able to tell... but my entire body is tattooed with spells from head to toe. So be careful... I also got pre-written spells."
"Like this..." The voice didn’t come from Merlin but from behind Beatrice, and she could feel a hand caressing her from behind. She immediately felt a cold chill run down her spine as she jumped away and saw that a second Merlin was standing behind her.
"Another spell?!" Beatrice growled, "Was it stealth, camouflage, or teleportation?"
Merlin giggled, "None of those. I didn’t make just one illusion earlier." She pointed at the Merlin holding a staff. "That one is an illusion as well." She then slowly lifted both hands and wriggled her fingers with an evil giggle. "Ah... you’re so cute and fun to tease. I’ll have a bit of fun with you, so don’t start crying."
She lifted both arms, and shouted at the top of her lungs. "I CAST! INSTANT WAX!"
She lifted both arms and shouted at the top of her lungs. "I CAST! INSTANT WAX!"
Beatrice immediately felt all of her body hair getting violently ripped off her skin all at once, and she fell to her knees, screaming in agony, with tears rushing down her cheeks. "Wha..."
Merlin was laughing like an evil witch in the back. "I’ll show you the greatness of our magic! Stand up and cast spells!"
On the side, Gamond looked toward Merlin with a faint smile. "To waste such a useful spell on that ugly, green monstrosity. But I won’t complain since it was painful enough." She then slowly turned back to look at Arr and Rex, who were already on their knees, half frozen.
"So, when would you two pigs give up? My husband doesn’t want to kill you, so I’m giving you so many chances to surrender." She stood like a pillar with both hands inside her sleeves, glaring at the two like a pissed maid, and she was pissed. Those two had tried to stand in front of her a lot, and they even dared to try to attack her.
"We are orcs; we either die fighting or keep moving forward. We know no fear!" Rex growled, and she gave him a nasty glare, a stare cold enough that he pissed himself. What was looking at him wasn’t a beautiful maid but a titanic lizard that could freeze the entire world to death on a whim.
Arr took a quiet, deep breath, and then pushed a lot of energy to his legs, trying to accelerate as fast as he could to reach her before she could attack again, but before he could even move, a pillar of ice grew out of the ground beneath him and crushed one of his balls.
As he fell face-first, growling in absolute agony, Gamond scoffed. "You think you can stand in front of me? You think you’re worthy of touching me? Know your place. Unless you want me to crush the second one."
Then, without any reason, she sent a second pillar and crushed his other ball, causing him so much pain that he passed out. "Ah... peace and quiet, praise be to Isdis."
Rex looked at her with a smile, and without waiting a second, she hit him as well with a pillar, crushing both of his balls. But unlike Arr, he didn’t growl or pass away; he just tanked the hit and pain, maintaining a stern face as he forced the smile to stay.
"So... you’re the strongest here? I really thought the big alien was the leader." Rex spoke, and Gamond giggled. "Me? The strongest? You’re dreaming." She looked toward Arad with a large grin on her face. "That dragon... He is far stronger than I."
She shifted her gaze back to Rex. "He just toys with his food in a different way. He was raised in a peaceful world, after all. I, on the other hand, was born into strife and had killed my entire world."
"Monster..." He growled, and she blew toward them. "Now, freeze. Rest in peace, beneath layers and layers of snow." As her breath hit Rex and Arr, they were both frozen solid.
