Chapter 359: Chapter 359

There was a brief pause filled with the kind of dramatic weight that only a father who knew he was about to deliver life-changing news could create.

"But today - today of all days, son - he literally sent word that he has accepted. That he is going to come. That he will be there at your wedding."

Richard sat up straighter in his seat without even realizing he was doing it.

"Father—"

"Can you even imagine?" his father continued, his voice now carrying the full, unrestrained joy of a man whose greatest hope had just been realized.

"Can you even begin to comprehend the excitement and the absolute joy that I felt the moment I received that confirmation? The joy that is literally running through every part of my body right now as I’m speaking to you? I cannot even properly describe it to you in words."

His laughter came through the phone - warm, genuine, and overflowing with pride and happiness.

"I just cannot believe it. I truly cannot believe that this is happening. But it is happening, son. It is real. And I want you to understand something very clearly right now." His voice dropped into a tone of absolute conviction.

"This wedding is going to be the biggest event this city - no, this entire country - has ever witnessed since its founding. Mark my words. People are going to be talking about this wedding for decades to come. I am so incredibly, overwhelmingly happy right now."

At that moment, Richard pulled the phone slightly away from his ear and looked at it for just a brief second with an expression of genuine curiosity before bringing it back and responding to his father.

"Well, Father, from everything you’re describing, it seems this person is very, very influential indeed," Richard said carefully, his tone measured but clearly intrigued. "But I have to ask you directly - do I actually know this person personally? Have I ever crossed paths with him?"

There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, and then Richard’s father responded with the kind of emphatic correction that only a man who felt his son was severely underselling a situation could deliver.

"Influential?" his father repeated, and even through the phone Richard could hear the older man shaking his head. "Son, influential is a complete understatement. You are not grasping this correctly at all if that is the word you are choosing to use for this man. This person is not simply influential in the way that politicians or celebrities or successful businessmen are influential."

His father’s voice dropped into something more serious and reverent as he continued.

"This person controls things, Richard. This person literally holds this entire country in the palm of his hand. Everything that moves in this nation, every major decision, every significant shift in power or economy or policy - this man’s fingerprints are somewhere on it, whether people can see them or not. He is the kind of force that operates completely above the noise of ordinary public life."

Richard’s grip on the steering wheel tightened almost imperceptibly as he listened. freewebnoveℓ.com

"And when it comes to business, when it comes to investment, when it comes to industry, finance, technology, real estate, international trade - anything you can possibly think of, this man doesn’t just have a presence in it. He is at the absolute pinnacle of all of it simultaneously. He doesn’t compete in these spaces, son. He owns them."

Penelope, who had been listening with growing curiosity from the passenger seat, had completely abandoned any pretense of not paying attention and was now watching Richard’s face intently, trying to piece together the full picture from his side of the conversation alone.

"Now, will you know him personally?" his father continued. "Probably not, and I say that without any offense intended. Because this man has deliberately, consciously chosen to keep himself entirely out of the public eye. He has never sought recognition or visibility. He doesn’t appear in magazines or at public functions or on television. He doesn’t give interviews. He doesn’t make announcements." There was a note of deep respect in the older man’s voice. "Most people who have been in the same room as him have no idea who he is, and that is precisely the way he prefers it."

His father chuckled softly before continuing.

"What I have heard from very reliable sources over the years is that he does occasionally accept certain invitations to private occasions, and he attends them quietly, blending in completely without anyone in the room being aware of exactly who is standing among them. He has graced certain events before without a single soul recognizing him for who he truly is. No announcements, no fanfare, no entourage drawing attention."

His voice swelled again with pride. "And I wanted that privilege for our family, Richard. I wanted our occasion to have that blessing."

He paused for emphasis before delivering the final, stunning piece of information.

"And I won’t lie to you - when I personally went to deliver that invitation before your mother and I traveled, I knew it was a gamble. A significant gamble. The chances that he would actually accept were maybe, maybe one percent in my estimation. I was not confident at all that this was going to work. But I tried anyway because I believed the occasion was worthy of the attempt."

His father’s voice broke slightly with genuine emotion.

"And now he has accepted. And not only that - from what I understand, this is going to be the very first time he has ever agreed to grace an occasion in this city. In fact, from everything I have been told, this will be the first time he has attended any public occasion in this entire country. The very first time, son. Do you understand what that means? Do you understand the magnitude of what I’m telling you right now?" fгeewebnovёl.com

At that moment, Richard fell unusually quiet on his end of the call. The silence inside the car stretched out for several seconds as he processed everything his father had just said. He didn’t know this man - couldn’t place a face or a name or a single story to the extraordinary figure his father was describing with such reverence and awe. And somehow that made it all feel even more enormous and slightly surreal, like being told that a living legend was about to walk through your front door.

Richard found himself unconsciously beginning to tap his free hand lightly against his lap, a nervous and thoughtful rhythm as the full weight of his father’s words settled over him completely.
