Chapter 82: Make him impotent

One week passed since the incident where Daisy sent the compensation amount to Ryle and ever since that day, she did not hear from him or his lawyers.

"Both of you came so late. It’s almost 8:30 pm,’’ Diana checked the time on her watch.

Ivy, Diana, and Daisy were standing in the kitchen inside Maxim’s penthouse. Maxim had taken Angel on a tour of the apartment garden after cooking dinner.

And for the dessert, Daisy was the one responsible for making cupcakes. Despite Diana’s constant insistence that she wanted to make it, Maxim did not allow her to do that. Not that he minded that there were chances that Diana would blow up the kitchen, but with her being pregnant, he was more and more protective than he always was. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

’’But still, dinner is ready in time, isn’t it, Dee?" Ivy pouted, ’’I could not sleep properly last night so I ended up napping throughout the day. And Daisy had to take care of our little princess when she herself has not been feeling very well....’’ she trailed off when Daisy’s gaze snapped to her.

But it was pretty late for Ivy to take her words back. Being a blabbermouth came with its downsides. You utter the very things first that you are not supposed to say out loud.

’’Not feeling well?" Diana who had just picked a cookie in her hand paused. Her gaze shifted from Ivy to Daisy, ’’Why are you not feeling well?’’

For the past few days, Diana had been stuck at her in-laws’ place. And somehow, the only thing they made her do was eat and sleep. They had hired chefs who prepared all sorts of her favorite delicacies. Although she preferred the food made by Maxim anytime, but seeing their efforts and enthusiasm, she could not help but eat everything. And after stuffing all that, her system would immediately crash in desire for a 30-minute nap that would happily extend to hours.

Hence, she did not get a chance to talk to Daisy properly. Since Maxim told her that they had landed safely in LA, she was relieved.

When Daisy did not say anything, Diana continued asking, ’’Is there something that I don’t know?"

Knowing that she could not hide it any longer, Daisy narrated the series of events briefly. She skipped the events of her being unconscious for so long and summed it all to the excuse that it was just an assassination attempt that was directed at Ryle.

Diana was a bit skeptical by the end of it because why would Daisy be sick if she was not injured in the whole incident?

Ivy spoke up, "And as if that was not enough adventure, that devil discovered Daisy’s real identity and sent his lawyers over to haunt her down so of course, she would be feeling exhausted and drained after dealing with it all... Oh, I was not supposed to say that,’’ she panicked, her eyes widening when Daisy shot her a look.

Daisy sighed before looking at Diana whose eyes were filled with concern over the matter.

’’Don’t worry. I have it under control.’’

Diana was still not convinced but seeing Daisy’s assuring gaze, she could not help but say, ’’If there is something up and he continues to trouble you, you have to tell me.’’

’’And where would that take us?" Daisy glanced at the woman who seemed determined.

’’Ryle Harper is a certified playboy,’’ Diana said as she walked towards the couch in the living room. She turned around and sat on the arm of the couch, looking at Daisy, ’’If he bothers you again, the best thing we can do is cut his thing off, make him impotent so that he can’t even step out of his oh-so-luxurious mansion in shame...’’

Diana trailed off when she saw Ivy’s face gradually morph from sporting a funny expression to a shocked one to suddenly looking like she was on the verge of tears. Her upward smile had transformed downward.

Diana looked at Daisy who did not have exaggerated reactions like Ivy but she also seemed stiff.

’’You guys...’’

’’We are back,’’ the words were accompanied by a clear of throat from Maxim.

Diana turned around almost cheerfully but all the ’cheer’ left her face when his gaze landed on Ryle who was standing behind Maxim, a hand tucked in his pocket.

Diana’s jaw dropped.

She glanced at Angel who had peacefully rested her head on Maxim’s shoulder, lazily observing everything around them. The little traitor would usually make noises or at least go ’mama’ but when it was time to show her loyalty, she backed out.

Diana wiped a tear mentally as she slowly gazed back at Ryle whose face had visibly darkened.

A small moment of silence drawled into a long one until it turned awkward.

’’She was kidding,’’ Maxim casually dropped his statement as if it was the last word before he proceeded to walk towards Diana and placed a kiss on her forehead.

Ryle looked at the man’s back helplessly. One could not do anything after all when his very own friend was whipped, ’’What kidding? I told you she has duped you into thinking that she is all that innocent and sweet. Look at her words and actions, she sounds like a psychopath,’’ he quirked a brow, looking a Diana provocatively.

Diana gave him a disgusted look, ’’Look who is talking.’’

’’You are pregnant. I thought you were going to work on that twisted head of yours but apparently, it has gotten worse.’’

’’Why do you sound like a jealous mistress who is trying to drive a wedge between a husband and wife?"

’’Husband and wife? How delusional are you? You guys are not even married yet,’’ Ryle almost got goosebumps, and how smoothly the woman said ’husband and wife’.

’’Baby, look he is saying you won’t marry me,’’ Diana looked at Maxim with her wild limpid eyes.

Maxim walked towards her and placed a soft kiss on her lips as he said, ’’I can marry you right now.’’

If he hadn’t gotten goosebumps before, Ryle got them now as he watched his best friend sweet-talking with his fiancée, ’’Can you guys stop being cringe?"

’’Can you stop being jealous?" Diana mimicked his tone unabashedly.

’’Jealous, my ass,’’ Ryle turned his gaze away from the couple who were getting cozy in front of him but just as he looked the other way, his eyes locked with a pair of dark cold eyes, as he found himself looking at the person whose presence he had felt earlier but refused to acknowledge.
