Chapter 69: How did you get my number

’’Your grandfather is summoning you again and it seems like... your father has brought his new mistress in the mansion. They are getting married soon.’’

’’When did I ever have a father?" Ryle looked at the man, dead in the eyes.

The man got flustered, knowing how much he detested to hear that, ’’I... Sorry, Boss...’’

’’It seems like your old age is getting to your brain. Take a few days off and regain your focus before you come back again.’’

’’Boss... I...’’ The bodyguard looked at Ryle in disbelief, unable to register what he was hearing. He did not even mention the time period for which he was not supposed to come to work. Was he suspended from the job for indefinite time?"

As the door closed, the other bodyguards surrounded him.

’’I was telling you that is not the right time to come here with this sort of news. Why were you in such a rush?"

"You all know the reason why I came here in the middle of the night,’’ the middle aged man who was suspended from his position by Ryle seemed very disgruntled with the whole situation as he spoke, ’’We have seen him growing up in front of our own eyes. We are familiar with his ways but in the past few days, I am unable to understand what he wants. He was supposed to leave for Vegas but his plans were delayed because he showed sudden interest in this annual event of Chens which does not seem to add any benefit.

He suddenly decided to make an addition on our way back and brought Daisy Chen and her daughter with us.

Not only that, there was a change in plans and we had to do an emergency landing just because it was not safe for the child.

And here, he stopped us from conducting the basic security check in the morning so sternly.’’

"Locke, boss might not have changed the plans for the child or the woman,’’ one of the other men spoke up, shaking their heads, ’’It was not safe to fly in such weather.’’

’’You can choose to keep yourself in delusion if you want to. The plane is build in such a way that it can accommodate storms and bad weather easily. If there were no addition, then do you think Boss would have cared about something trivial like bad weather?" Locke looked at the rest of his mates disapprovingly, ’’I know you are trying to defy me on this and discourage me but I cannot forget why we came to serve this man,’’ he whispered as they further walked away from the room and towards the end of the hallway.

’’We are bound to him because of Lady Boss and I won’t let him wrong her in any way. If he forgets his prime objectives and gets distracted from his goal for such trifles, then it is our responsibility to remind him of it, no matter what it costs us.’’

The rest of the people listened to him and gradually grew silent.

’’You are right, Locke. But he is the man we serve and we are not supposed to question his actions. No matter what, we have sworn loyalty to him so what he says, goes.’’

According to what Daisy knew, they were supposed to depart early in the morning the next day. However, when she was woken up by Angel’s cries in the morning, she found the room empty.

Last night, Ryle took the couch and he seemed to have dozed off the moment he lied down and they did not have any further discussion. Since he did not pursue any conversation with her, Daisy was assured that she had cleared his suspicions.

After Daisy finished Angel’s routine, the little girl was still so grumpy. She refused to leave her side. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

’’Let’s watch something of your choice then?" Daisy turned on the television inside the room and switched to Disney.

After about one hour when there were no signs of Ryle and Angel refused to let go of her, Daisy had no choice but to pull out her phone and call Ryle’s number.

The call was answered on the last ring,"Hello?" came the man’s deep voice from the other.

"Where are you?"

"Daisy?"

Daisy did not respond to his question.

A moment of silence lingered on the phone before the man said, ’’I’ll be there in a moment,’’ he disconnected the call, without giving her the chance to say anything.

Daisy looked at the phone and then at Angel who had one of her breasts in her mouth. The girl’s newer teeth had come sharper, leaving multiple scratches on her skin.

Daisy slumped back on the couch.

Just a few minutes had passed when there were consecutive knocks on the room.

Daisy detached the girl from her body, leading to Angel bursting out in tears immediately.

Daisy helplessly rocked the girl on one side of her body as she fixed her bra and dress before walking to the door.

When the door opened, Ryle was standing there with a questioning look on his face but his expression changed when he looked at them.

Ryle was momentarily taken aback.

Angel had turned red while crying and Daisy’s face looked completely pale. Her eyes seemed a bit sunken with distinct dark circles under them, her hair was a mess and she was still wearing yesterday’s clothes that were wrinkled and seemed to have wet patches everywhere.

Before Daisy could say a word, the weight from her arm was gone. Ryle effortlessly pulled Angel to himself as he made the girl sit on his elbow, supporting her with one arm.

His other hand went to be placed over the small of Daisy’s waist as he led her inside the room, closing the door behind him.

’’How did you get my number?" he asked, guiding Daisy to the couch.

’’I had it,’’ the words slipped off Daisy’s mouth almost instantly. As Dexter, she used another phone but she remembered his number by heart, ’’I got it from Diana before we left the hospital.’’
