"I hope I am not interrupting anything, ladies, or am I?" A masculine voice entered their ears.
Diana looked up at the man who had come to stand in front of Daisy. At the first glance, he seemed familiar to her, ’’You... Aren’t you...?" As she got a proper look at him, it suddenly dawned on her, ’’Second Young Master Lu, that is if I am not wrong?" her voice was wary.
The man smiled politely, ’’It’s nice to meet you too, Miss Chen. How have you been?"
’’Fine, if that concerns you in any way,’’ Diana was naturally very wary towards the Lu Family. Back then, the engagement between the third young master of the Lu Family and Daisy was rather strange. Daisy might have her motives behind agreeing to it. She did it to bide some time to carve a path for her and Angel and get rid of their parents’ pestering for once and for all.
But it was the way the Lu Family agreed to all their conditions that it bothered Diana. She did not think they were especially fond of Daisy. Their youngest son seemed like he was being forced into the marriage when he stood on the altar with a face that resembled as if he had eaten something extremely bitter.
And after Daisy ran away from the wedding, any sane person would have drawn a line with them due the humiliation caused to them. The Lu Family seemed very frustrated because of Daisy’s actions but never acted on it. From what she followed on the news, they maintained an amiable facade on the surface and made many business deals with them. In Diana’s eyes, they were no less than hypocrites.
Lu Xian who was the second young master of the Lus could be said to be the current head of the family, despite Master Lu being alive and well. He was mysterious and he rarely made any appearances in the public. Hence, Diana could not help but consider his involvement in the whole fiasco.

Lu Xian’s expressions did not budge in the slightest despite the obvious mockery in Diana’s words. Instead, he turned to look at Daisy who was clearly distracted by a certain someone’s presence in the distance.
Without having to look back, he could tell who Daisy was looking at. He had spotted Ryle Harper in the crowd the moment he had walked past the reporters.
’’Miss Chen, you should ask your elder sister what I am here for,’’ Lu Xian sighed.
Diana’s lips parted as she turned to look at Daisy in disbelief.
Daisy also glanced at Lu Xian, who had somehow covered Ryle’s figure from her with his body.
’’I have yet to get a response for the flowers that I sent to her. I am here to ask her if she liked them or not.’’
Diana looked back and forth between the two people cluelessly. From what she knew, Daisy barely mingled with these elites. And knowing her past situation where she almost got married to the third son of the Lu Family, it was even more bizarre that she would get involved with her ex-fiance’s elder brother.
However, even after some time passed, Daisy did not deny anything.
’It seems like he sent flowers to Daisy and she even accepted it?’ Diana could not help but feel amused by the turn of events. She thought they were just coming to Beijing to check up on their parents. However, who could have known Daisy’s life would start resembling a pandora box as soon as they came here?
Her aloof and self proclaimed ’man-hater of a sister not only made out with someone but she even accepted flowers from a man?
Wait... Diana’s eyes widened as a sudden conspiracy theory emerged in her mind. What were the odds that both these men were actually the same person? If Lu Xian had to come to the event, then why would he be so late unless he was delayed by something? Was he the man who kissed Daisy senseless?
Despite the guesses forming in her head, Diana kept them in check knowing that it was too early to make an assumption. She slid to the side and furthered inch away from the people.
’’I’ll see you later,’’ Diana waved at Daisy and left the place without giving Daisy an opportunity to stop her.
"So, how was it?’’ Once Diana was gone, Lu Xian occupied the seat next to Daisy, ’’Did you like the flowers, Daisy? Or shall I call you Dexter?" there was a small smile on the man’s face as he spoke.
Daisy looked at him silently for a moment, without uttering a word.
Lu Xian could not help but hold a breath in anticipation. Did she or did she not like the flowers?
However, the moment she opened her mouth, his face visibly collapsed like a sand castle.
’’Are you threatening me?" were the four words that left Daisy’s mouth.

He did not have much experience with women but he did not think that any woman in the world treat gifting flowers as an act of threat.
As if her initial statement was not worse enough, Daisy backed it up with a more powerful statement, ’’Or were those flowers poisoned?" The day when she received those daisies, she had been in a confused and panicked state over the card that was attached to the bouquet. She had been worried that it would reveal her identity and later, when everything turned out to be fine, she was still not very calm.
Worried that the flower contained any hidden message, she brought it home with herself so that she could destroy it later. However, she was then distracted by the invitation to the annual party and then Diana’s and Maxim’s arrival.
"I had those flowers with me on my bike when I drove back home. They were in front of me, so if they were poisoned, my body would have shown symptoms by now,’’ Daisy mumbled under her breath as she looked at her hand in contemplation, ’’But is it a slow acting drug?’’ She had yet to discard them and Ivy was staying alone there for the time being while they were here.
Lu Xian chuckled helplessly, "You have a good sense of humour, Daisy.’’ Had he heard her entire monologue, he would have known that how solemn she was about the matter.
However, Daisy looked at him dead in the eyes, ’’What happened during the wedding should not be avenged in this manner. If you want revenge, I’d rather you confront me....’’
"Shh...’’ Lu Xian pressed a finger on her lips.
However, Daisy retreated in a swift movement, causing his finger to hover an inch away from her mouth. From the corner of her eyes, she spotted some movement and she immediately turned to the side on instinct.
Her gaze locked with Ryle who was looking at her with a straight face. Even after she caught him staring, the man did not look away. He brought his glass closer to his mouth and took a sip of the red wine. As he placed the glass down back on the table he was leaning on, the tip of his tongue reached out to lick the corner of her lips.
Daisy’s throat ran dry as a flashback emerged in her head. The way his tongue had played with her lips, with her tongue, gently and coarsely until she had felt the power leaving his limbs.
She wanted to look away from the devil but her gaze was stuck. She watched as he straightened up from the table, not paying attention to the woman who seemed to be chatting with him. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Daisy stiffened to her. Was he about to walk up to her?
Before she could gauge his movements any further, a shadow enveloped her as Lu Xian stood up in front of her, ’’If I may...?" his hand outstretched.
’’No, I..’’ Daisy was about to turn him down when she thought of Ryle’s stance. If he approached her, what would she say? She needed some time to register that she was kissed by the man whom she hated and worst of all, she was the initiator of it all.
Hence, without hesitation, she placed her hand on Lu Xian’s, expecting the man to take her to the dance floor.
But contrary to her expectations, he walked her away from the dance floor.
Daisy could hear the gasps and whispers of the people behind her as she walked. The elder daughter of Chens dancing with her ex-fiance’s elder brother would have been slightly weird but digestible but now the man seemed to be taking her away to some place.
