Chapter 333: I am sorry

Daisy sat on a bench in the garden area of the hospital. It was evening time so the place was quite empty except for some of the patients who were taking a walk with their family members.

"The doctor said that you will feel better once you wake up but seeing your condition, it doesn’t seem to be the case,’’ Caleb said as he sat next to Daisy on the bench, ’’What are you thinking about?"

Daisy remained silent for a moment before she opened her mouth, ’’I was thinking how many of these patients are recovering and how many of them are not. And the ones that are not recovering well, how do their family members survive with that knowledge?"

’’What should they do in your opinion then? Cry or live in denial...’’ Caleb shook his head, ’’They must be aware and they must have bawled when nobody watches them. But then, that is life. Despite how broken you are, you pick up the shards and carry on. You live with the knowledge that your loved ones will someday leave your side.’’

Daisy lowered her head. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

’’Dwelling on it will only make you push people away and avoid attachments. But where is the beauty in that? One should live life, will all its pain. And cherish people, in good and in the worst times,’’ Caleb smiled at Daisy.

’’I don’t know much about what transpired for the both of you to end up in the hospital in such circumstances. But, I know that both your lives were at risk. Such incidents where you almost die or where you almost lose your loved one do make you reflect upon a lot of things. And you should not avoid this reflection. But after thinking about it, don’t retreat or run. Don’t miss out on your loved ones. It doesn’t make you feel better at all.’’

Daisy sighed softly, ’’I suddenly understand why someone as hard-headed as my father would have a bestfriend like you.’’

The man looked at her speechless, ’’Now, that makes me question whether you are praising me or insulting me.’’

’’However you see it.’’

Caleb chuckled, ’’Indeed, your father and I have known each other for the longest time ever. Long enough that we even know about each other’s first love and heartbreaks.’’

’’Is it?" Daisy turned to the man and arched a brow.

’’You don’t believe me?" Caleb shook his head, ’’However, I must tell you that your father’s heartbreaks have always revolved around your mother only. Even after they got married, they had knives at each other’s throats. Helian never had the tiniest gap for any other woman. From the time he was a boy to the point he became a man, he only had eyes for your mother.’’

Daisy nodded slowly as she sat straighter. Her mother had lost her memories after past trauma and for the longest time, she believed that her father had cheated on her. But when everything unfolded, the truth came out.

’’I would always tell him that their love is twisted but that bastard would jab me saying that at least he is together with his woman...’’ Caleb trailed off.

Daisy looked at him, ’’What about uncle? You talk about my father’s loyalty as if you have had many entanglements...’’

’’What many? Back in college, your uncle had completely sworn off these things,’’ Caleb said self-righteously.

’’Oh?"

’’I was determined to not get entangled with a woman at all. All I had in my mind was my family business, this and that.’’

Daisy waited for the man to continue speaking.

However, after a long pause, Caleb laughed, ’’And as you see me now, don’t you think I fulfilled my vision of staying single?"

Seeing that he did not have the intention to be serious anymore, Daisy looked away.

’’Forget about me. As I see it, you seem to be upset...’’

Daisy was not the person to talk about her issues with anyone. But when it came to love and relationships, she felt like she did not have enough experience to be her own judge.

’’I am just annoyed,’’ she mumbled after a while.

’’While I don’t know what annoyed you, I know who did. In fact, that young man in there is quite a thing,’’ Caleb clicked his tongue, ’’He woke up some time after you fell unconscious and it came out as a great shock to the doctor who was holding himself back from saying ominous things under your threat.’’

Daisy glanced at him.

’’He has suffered a lot of injuries and most of them are quite severe. When I walked inside to check if you both needed something, you were sleeping on him and he glared daggers at me when I mentioned we should get you moved. It was only after a while when the nurses started fussing around did he let them move you to his side. I could tell from his face that he did that so that they don’t wake you up with all that noise.’’

Caleb patted Daisy’s shoulder before he got up and left.

Daisy barely sat there for seconds before she pushed herself to her feet.

The elevator stopped at the VIP floor. The moment she stepped out of it, a wheelchair blocked her path.

Daisy looked down and her eyes met a pair of dark whiskey eyes that were already gazing at her.

They both looked at each other for what seemed like eternity.

’’I am sorry.’’

"I am sorry."

Both the people said at the same time.

Daisy sucked a deep breath before she lowered her head, held the back of Ryle’s neck and captured his lips.

The nurse who was pushing the wheelchair blushed a little before scurrying away. But she turned to look at them with every step she took.

Ryle was stunned by the sudden kiss. But just as he arched his neck to get more of Daisy, she retreated.

’’Were you going to get some fresh air?" she asked.

’’Oh, I already got a lot,’’ Ryle blinked at her as he spoke, his voice hoarse and his body unnatural.
