Chapter 331: Wake up...
’’He is fine...’’ She uttered softly, ’’He has to be fine...’’
Diana cried harder.
’’Daisy...’’ Maxim’s voice was solemn, ’’Ana’s discharge procedures are almost done. We will be there.’’
’’No,’’ Daisy shook her head, ’’It’s not that serious at all. Why are you treating it as if something has happened? The surgery is going on and he will recover. There is no urgency.’’
’’He was shot multiple times and he was tortured badly. He must be suffering from both external and internal injuries... You cannot remain in denial, Daisy,’’ Even though Maxim’s voice was serious, one could hear the comfort and concern in it.
One would not believe that some time ago, these two people did not really get along that well, with Daisy considering Maxim as a schemer who was unfit to be with her sister.
With a voice like that of an elder brother, Maxim continued, ’’We will be there as soon as possible.’’
Diana nodded in the camera as she wiped her tears with both her hands. freēwebnovel.com
As the call disconnected, Daisy slumped on a seat and hugged her knees.
The incidents of yesterday ran through her mind again and again.
From the very moment Ryle had stepped in and they had exchanged gazes, they had reached a consensus.
To blindly trust what the other is doing. And to act on the other’s lead instead of impulsively charging forth.
Till Angel was in their hands, things were difficult.
So, she had followed Ryle’s lead and stayed put in her place.
She watched him being beaten, trusting him.
Everything was within their calculations from saving Angel to defusing the bombs. The moment Daisy had stepped in the mansion, she had sensed the difference in the air and she had texted Ryle about the possibilities.
Everything went according to their plans and the both of them were in it together yet...
Yet, why was he lying in the operation theatre?!
Daisy buried her head in her knees, her shoulders trembled.
At this moment, there were sounds of approaching footsteps, ’’Daisy...’’
Daisy raised her head and looked at the man who had walked up to her in a visible fluster.
After a moment of silence, she raised her hand wiped her tears and pushed herself to her feet, ’’Uncle, you look unwell...’’
’’You have been away for a long time. While I have been managing the company, I have been clueless about the rest of things. The only people who went were either Secretary Han or Ivy but both of them acted like they knew nothing... I have been worried...’’
Daisy observed the man in silence as he said everything in one breath, ’’I am fine, if that is all you are worried about...’’
The place fell silent again.
’’Also, I came to ask about Ryle. How is he doing now?" A hint of nervousness finally appeared on the man’s face.
The door to the OT opened as the doctor stepped out at this moment.
The doctor shook his head with a soft sigh. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Daisy’s heart dropped.
’’The operation was successful. We have removed all the bullets from his body. But his body has suffered internally and externally alongwith extreme bloodlessness. Surviving with such injuries for hours is already a miracle...’’
’’When will he wake up?" Daisy walked to the doctor, step by step.
’’He might not...’’ The doctor’s eyes widened in fear and he trailed off as a cold metal brushed against his forehead.
Daisy held a gun next to his forehead, ’’When will he wake up?" Her voice was calmer and softer this time, like the echo of death’s knell.
Caleb’s eyes widened and he immediately walked up to them, ’’Daisy, you can’t...’’
Daisy shot him a cold look and Caleb stopped speaking, an immense grief reflecting in his eyes.
Daisy glanced at the doctor.
The man gulped, ’’We will have to wait... We will have to wait to see... But even if he wakes up...’’ he trailed off.
Daisy put the gun down, ’’Continue.’’
’’Even if he wakes up, his legs... The bullets tore through his muscles, tendons, ligaments, and skin, causing significant soft tissue damage along its path. He might not...’’
Daisy lowered her gaze, ’’It’s fine...’’ she whispered after a long time.
If he could not walk, she supported him against her body for her entire life.
’’But he must live,’’ she looked at the doctor, ’’If he doesn’t, we will all be going down to accompany him,’’ her eyes were bloodshot.
"Daisy... Snap out of it...’’ Caleb gently nudged her towards him.
The doctor quickly fled, wiping his sweat with trembling hands.
Daisy looked at Caleb. But gradually, her vision grew blurry and suddenly, darkness descended in front of her eyes.
...
’’He couldn’t make it...’’
Those words entered Daisy’s ears.
She could barely move her body.
An overwhelming weakness had descended upon her.
And those words pierced through her consciousness.
’’It was obvious that he would not make it... Didn’t you see the condition in which he was rushed in?"
Who could not make it? What did they even mean...?
Daisy clutched a fabric in her hand tightly.
’’The only reason we proceeded with the operation was because of her background. Nobody wants to mess with her now...’’
’’But what now...’’
’’What do you mean?"
’’She has been unconscious for hours so it is still peaceful... Didn’t you hear that she pressed a gun to the doctor’s head? Who would inform her that Mr. Harper has passed away?"
Daisy’s eyes snapped open, ’’What did you say?"
She was lying on a hospital bed. She glanced at the two nurses busy in their idle chattering, her gaze cold.
Hearing her voice, they shivered...
Daisy rushed out of the room, tugging out the syringe connected to the back of her palm.
She ran all the way to the VIP room and as she pushed open the door, she froze.
The man on the bed had gone pale.
The never ending beeping in the room pierced through her ears, telling her that his heartbeats had long stopped.
Daisy staggered to the bed.
’’Wake up...’’ Tears rolled down her eyes.
