Chapter 323: Back then...

Si Yena’s eyes trembled. The old form of address that was long forgotten made her gasp.

Daisy did not stop to admire the woman’s speechlessness. Rather, she calmly walked towards the couch and took a seat.

Si Yena followed after her quietly, ’’They bothered you and I killed them all. Have you forgiven me?" The woman sat on the floor, leaning sideways on the couch as she looked up at Daisy.

Daisy grabbed her shoulder and pulled her up, ’’Nobody bothered me to the point that I would want them dead. Even if they did, I would want you to kill them for me.’’

As Si Yena sat beside Daisy on the couch, she shook her head.

’’From the very beginning, you had us attacked in Shanghai. You got my sister almost assaulted at the annual party. You...’’

’’I didn’t... I didn’t...’’ Si Yena shook her head, ’’It was the Si Family. They used my infamy to ruin your family event. The Chen Family was on the rise at that time. And the attack was never directed at you. You should ask yourself who you protected that got you hurt.’’

Daisy did not have to think much about it. That was an assassination attempt directed at Ryle and she had moved instinctively to shield him from it.

Si Yena laughed. As she spoke, a hint of bitterness crept in her tone, ’’The Si Family never really prioritized me in the slightest but when things came down to it, they were the ones who ruined me...’’

Growing up, Si Yena had always been sidelined in the declining prestigious family. Her brother, the man who indulged in all wrong habits since childhood, was the child and heir that everybody in the family had placed their hopes on. And the only thing that they saw positively about Si Yena was that she managed to befriend the heiress of the Chen Family.

That friendship had been sincere for most parts until she was pushed by her family to ingratiate herself with Daisy. While she was being insidious and clinging to another person, Daisy was cold and proud. Even growing up in a dysfunctional family only made her more untouchable and pure. She did not seek validation from outsiders like Si Yena did.

And over time, she was recognized for that. Even though people all kept a distance from Daisy, she was the one that all boys liked and all girls admired. Si Yena resented it, she hated it from the very core.

’’So what if I got together with my bodyguard?" Speaking up to that, Si Yena scoffed, ’’That was the first man who saw beyond everything and everyone to look at me like I was the only one who mattered. You blame me for everything but what is my fault?"

Daisy curled her fingers into fists and looked away.

Si Yena clutched her chin and turned her face, ’’Don’t act all mighty now. We are talking after so long and I want you to talk to me. Don’t act like you are above this and everything. I would hate to hurt you, Daisy, so you better not push me into it...’’ she dug her nails into Daisy’s chin, leaving glaring marks, ’’Tell me, what is my fault?"

Daisy looked at her condescendingly, ’’I trusted you. With my child. You were supposed to keep her away from my family but you sent her to some unknown orphanage. She was sent to the place where they...’’ She did not dare to think about it.

Things have changed now. But back then, the situation and both her parents were completely different. In Daisy’s perspective, they would always have prioritized the family’s reputation over anything. Her mother was all set to send Angel to foster care. If not for Diana who ran away with Angel, then Daisy dared not think what would have transpired after that.

’’So what?’’ Si Yena released her grip from Daisy’s chin when the woman spoke, ’’The Si Family had me cornered, didn’t they? They never really cared if I lived or died then they could have let me go when I wanted to. Rather, they cut off all my paths and forced me into this. I used your child to get money out of your family and I would not deny that... that money was useful. I could have easily eloped with that man and lived happily ever after.’’

Si Yena laughed, ’’On the other hand, unlike me, you had always been the capable one. I knew you would manage to save your child regardless of what situation she landed in. Everyone would have been happy but what happened then? Ryle Harper. That bastard tracked that man down. You watched quietly as he killed my man. I felt so betrayed...’’

Daisy laughed, ’’What right do you have?" Feel betrayed? Wasn’t the feeling just as mutual?

’’I was not like you. I was not as privileged. Never as privileged. Even after all that situation, he could have left me alone. But what did he do? He ordered his people and sent me back to this mansion. To the hell I wanted to escape from!"

When Si Yena was sent back to her family, she knew what awaited her. After months of verbal and physical abuse, she left the place.

’’My so-called family was so good at whitewashing things. They tried to hunt me down in secret...’’

She was determined to not go back. All she wanted was to get away. freewebnøvel.com

’’I had an accident and when I woke up, I found myself in Kingsley mansion. How unlucky can a person get?" Si Yena laughed, ’’That old geezer was half in his grave yet he was a monster. I wanted to leave. I was grateful at having been saved by him but I really wanted to leave that fucking hellhole like place that added to my despondency! But you know what that monster did to me...?"
