Chapter 222: We are together

"It was in a mess when you took over. Back then, I had even thought of suggesting that you give up if you can’t handle it."

"Just some pesky flies here and there. Nothing to be worried about," Daisy sighed. Back then, she had no idea how she was going to handle things.

But at this point, she somehow did not want to put unnecessary stress on herself. Something about wanting to have everything under her control to feel assured had changed inside her.

She no longer felt like calculating every step, perfectioning every plan. Some things could be dealt with as they came. Some worries should be confronted when they surge. And simply this realization and feeling of not wanting to dwell on the past or future set Daisy’s heart at ease.

Diana was startled when she saw that fleeting smile on Daisy’s face. It disappeared in the blink of an eye, almost making it feel like an illusion but Diana was certain that she had seen it.

It almost reminded her of the times when they were young, way before they had started going to playschool. Was it the last time she had seen a smile like that on Daisy’s face?

It wasn’t that Daisy hadn’t smiled in her later years. She did. But those smiles... were sad when she saw their parents fighting endlessly, gradually turning into mocking, cold, perfunctory smiles and even fake smiles that she faked to assure people.

When Daisy looked at Angel, she smiled but those smiles were also not as carefree. They contained pain of the past and hope of the future.

"Are you dating Ryle?" Diana’s question fell like a strike of thunderbolt on Daisy’s head, rendering her mute for a long time.

Diana felt like Daisy was not going to talk about this. But only at that moment did Daisy open her mouth to speak.

"Yes, we are together," Daisy’s fingers unconsciously clenched at her lack of denial but along with it came a very sweet feeling that she was unaccustomed to.

It was as if just the mention of being with Ryle and just the feeling of talking about him brightened something inside her.

Diana was stunned for a moment, not expecting such a straightforward response from her. frёewebηovel.cѳm

These months, there have been some rumors regarding both these people. Ryle was spotted carrying Daisy and many such small incidents that did not carry as much weight individually. But when strung together, it made one think that there was something more to their relationship.

But not many people were aware of the history between Daisy and Ryle. The way Daisy worked for Ryle and more or less, the way both the people had daggers pointed at each other’s throat.

They, as outsiders, were not aware. But, Diana, as an insider, was well aware of the deep rooted hatred between them so she did not let her thoughts fly too far even though she also had her doubts.

"I didn’t dare to believe it until I saw how well you get along with each other," Diana pulled out her phone and showed the picture that she had clicked earlier when they were outside.

Daisy’s lips twitched and a heat rose in her neck as she saw the picture. It was nothing indecent in the slightest but somehow the way Ryle looked at her and she also looked back at him... it seemed to contain a lot of meaning. It did not look like an innocent gaze at all.

"I was mentally prepared to confront you if you started beating around the bush and lied that there was nothing between you two."

Daisy was speechless.

But a second later, she felt relieved. Initially, that’s what she wanted to do. It was good that she changed her ways otherwise she would not know where to put her face if Diana confronted her.

"I feel like Maxim is tarnishing your innocence," Daisy glared at her younger sister, who blinked cluelessly.

"Which innocence are you talking about?" Diana arched an eyebrow and sighed with a dreamy gaze.

"_"

Daisy rolled her eyes, "Shameless!"

"Pfft!" Diana cleared her throat. Knowing how innocent her elder sister was, she did not dare to push her buttons any further.

But something occurred to her suddenly and she glanced at Daisy with a meaningful gaze, "When did you fall for Ryle?" she asked unabashedly.

In fact, Diana knew that had Daisy been with any other man, she would never have asked such questions. But just because it was Ryle that she could not hold her curiosity at all.

Watching two people who seemed like they were at each other’s throats, fall in love with each other was kind of surreal.

Daisy remained silent for a long time.

Diana blinked and waited patiently.

But as the silence stretched, her expressions changed from patient to disbelieving one, "You... Don’t tell me you..."

...

While both the sisters were talking in the room, Ryle had dragged Maxim to a corner to talk to him.

Initially, Angel was being carried by Ryle but once her gaze was locked on the little dumpling in Logan’s arms, she refused to leave his side.

Grievous as Ryle was that Angel found herself some other amusement and felt momentarily abandoned, he could only tuck his feelings in the corner considering that the other party was his best friend’s son.

Hence the only people left in the living room were Logan, Ivy, Angel and Elias who played on Logan’s lap.

Angel also sat on the couch and paid special attention to little Elias. But she was extremely careful with her movements. She sat beside Logan almost resembling a miniature adult and with her soft fingers, she gently and curiously, poked and stroked the little boy.

Logan cast a glance at the little girl. It felt like just yesterday when Diana and Angel were living with Maxim with the little girl not being over 6 months old. But in the blink of an eye, she seemed to have grown up so much.
