Chapter 209: Anxious

The shower took way longer than it should have taken with Daisy slipping in and out of her slumber in between.

By the time, he made her wear one of his shirts, she was already dozing off again.

Ryle picked her up in a princess carry and took her to the bed before slowly placing her down. He the covered her with the blanket and stood up.

Just as he turned to leave, she grabbed his hand.

’’Where are you going?’’ her voice was groggy and her eyes were barely open.

Ryle leaned in and placed a soft kiss on her forehead, ’’You haven’t slept properly last night. Sleep well first.’’

Ad as if his words had a calming effect, her eyes closed, letting go of the last thread of restraint.

...

Daisy woke up with a start, her heart racing wildly.

The instant her hand touched the cold side of the bed, her expressions changed.

She jumped out of the bed and walked out of the room, her steps a little unstable.

But as she reached the living room, an aroma wafted over to her nose, making her halt in her tracks.

The grogginess from earlier dispersed little by little as her gaze landed on Ryle who seemed to have busied himself in the kitchen.

Her frantically racing heart seemed to have gradually calmed down.

When Ryle happened to lift his head coincidentally, he was met with Daisy’s dishevelled appearance.

He turned off the appliances in the kitchen in a split-second and made his way towards her.

Within a few large strides, he was already standing in front of her, ’’What happened?’’ Seeing her abnormally red face, he pressed the back of his palm on her forehead, checking if she had a fever.

Daisy dragged a hand over her face but she did not say anything.

Before Ryle could inquire any further, she simply slumped into his arms, pressing her face against his chest.

Ryle rubbed her back but seeing that she was unwilling to talk, he did not probe any further. From her face, he concluded that she just woke up so it was not any external issue that could have bothered her. Then, she must have had a nightmare or any sort of disturbing thoughts that had her looking so anxious. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

’’Good that you woke up on time,’’ Still rubbing her back gently, he led her to the dining table and pulled a chair for her, ’’I was about to wake you up.’’

Daisy paused for a moment before she moved away from him and took a seat.

He pushed the chair forward once she was seated.

’’Did you make all this?" Daisy propped her chin on her palm and glanced at the variety of dishes on the dining table. After asking the question, she realized that it was rather silly of her to ask that.

There was no third person in the house after all.

’’Yes. Some of the dishes, I tried them for the first time. So, I will taste it first and let you know if they are edible,’’ Ryle said, ’’And there is one more thing. Let me fetch it first.’’

Daisy watched as he walked off to the kitchen and came back with a plate. As he placed it down in front of her, she glanced at the brownies that greeted her vision, a chocolaty aroma wafted off from the piping hot brownies.

At the sight of the food, Daisy could feel the growing inside her. She was suddenly reminded of the fact that Ryle and her had not had food since yesterday.

They were supposed to have dinner but they never really got to have... ahem... dinner.

’Grr...’

Daisy’s stomach grumbled on cue, making her blink.

An adoring smile made its way on Ryle’s face, ’’Start eating from something safe,’’ he moved the omelette in front of her, ’’I will be right back.’’

Before Daisy could say anything, he turned around and left.

By the time Ryle came back, he spotted Daisy sitting there calmly. She had not moved an inch since he had left her sitting there.

Daisy glanced as the man walked up to her with a snow-white fur coat in his hand and he draped it over her body before adjusting it to cover her legs.

Then he came back again and placed a pair of sliders in front of her feet.

When she did not move her feet, he looked up at her.

Daisy side and slid in her feet inside those rabbit eared fluffy sliders that she had never worn before in her life.

The man seemed to have done it on purpose as well.

With a face full of smiles, he walked towards the window and drew open the curtains.

The sun seemed to have hidden behind the clouds and the weather had turned gloomy, unlike how it had been sunny earlier in the morning. The heavy snowfall continued. The streets and trees were all covered in a layer of white.

Daisy frowned slightly and moved on the chair.

When Ryle walked back to her, he saw the look on her face. Sensing her movements, he placed his hands on her shoulders, ’’Everything is fine in the mansion. I called Ivy right after you dozed off. Angel is having her fair share of fun watching the snow. She wanted to play outside but Aunty Lu did not let her.’’

As he spoke, he grabbed a chair and moved it right next to her chair before taking a seat.

Daisy sighed, ’’Are you a worm in my stomach?"

How was it possible that everytime she had some concern, he would know about it even before she uttered a single word?

Ryle chuckled, ’’Being your soulmate works the same way.’’

Daisy smiled and then shook her head.

’’I also talked to Angel.’’

’’What did she say?" As Daisy spoke, she placed the omelette in front of him and moved another dish towards her before calmly taking a bite.
