Chapter 198: I missed you

Ryle pulled her hand to place her where his heart was, ’’I am worried sick to see you being bothered like this and being unable to do anything to end it. Just tell me what it is, will you? If it’s a problem, it can be solved and if it’s a human, they can be killed...’’

’’Shut up,’’ Daisy punched his chest lightly as she threw herself into his arms, hugging his waist.

Ryle held her close to his chest, feeling helpless.

’’It was terrible,’’ a lone teardrop slipped past her eyes and she did not know when she could not stop crying anymore.

Ryle’s grip on Daisy tightened when he felt the woman shaking in his arms. His face was dark and he could not help but calculate every bit of information he had received from the guards in the past few days to think if there was something he was missing.

In the end, he could not think of anything.

He pulled the woman to his lap and stroked her back gently, ’’Shhh... it’s okay...’’

Daisy clutched his shirt, burying her face deeper into his chest as her cries turned into soft sobs.

Daisy did not know why she was crying. It all seemed to be fine in the past few days but the moment she saw him, she felt like she suffered from everything. It was strange that she had never felt that way before but everything seemed to come back to her all at once.

Ryle felt like someone gripped his heart and twisted it ruthlessly, leaving him in endless pain.

’’Tell me what happened. What’s terrible?" He could not hold it any longer.

He held the woman and separated her from him.

The sight of tear stained face made his heart break.

Ryle wiped her tears with his thumb before he leaned in to kiss her eyes.

Daisy lowered her head.

Ryle placed a soft kiss on her forehead, ’’If you keep crying then I will start crying too. Let’s coax each other then and see who does it better.’’

Daisy was speechless, ’’You are so childish,’’ she whispered as a small smile curved on her lips.

’’Whatever can make you smile like this, I will be that for you,’’ Ryle said as he stroked her hair, the immense panic he felt when she started crying was still lingering in his heart.

Daisy did not say anything but she only laid her head on his shoulder as she sat on his lap.

Ryle did not urge her to speak but he just held her patiently.

Just when he thought she did not want to talk about it, she spoke up, ’’I don’t know what it is... What happened at Lu family...’’ It did not bother her as much but for once, she felt that these incidents are never ending.

’’After staying away from Angel for year, I thought I would be able to give her all my time. But that has been hard too ever since I took over the new responsibilities,’’ There were days she did not get to spend a second in her daughter’s presence.

Ryle cupped her face and kissed her forehead again, ’’When I see you, I see such a strong woman, Daze. Someone who inspires me, and makes me want to worship her. You are beautiful and brave. And when it comes to Angel, you are a great mother, someone she would always be proud of.’’

Daisy did not know that. What would happen and what was about to happen, she had no idea.

But, she could not deny a comfortable warmth seeping inside her chest when she heard his words.

Ryle sighed and placed his chin on her forehead as he spoke ’’As for the other things, no matter how many battles come your way, I know you will never be defeated. And you should know that you will always find me by your side...’’

’’I missed you.’’

Ryle was about to say something when he heard her words and stiffened in his spot. His lips parted slightly and he almost thought he misheard her. But if those words that she spoke were not echoing by his ears, he would have really believed that he was hearing things.

Daisy’s mood was all over the place. A lot of things happened in the past few days since he left. And she did not think too much about it. But the moment she saw him, every small incident seemed to have hurt her.

And as if only this man could soothe over all that pain did she go to his embrace.

The feeling of reliance was so foreign. Yet she did not despise it.

’’Worst of it all, I missed you a lot,’’ she said softly.

Daisy looked up at him, ’’That day when you left the mansion without looking back, I missed you right away. But I did not let myself think in that direction. I thought it should be fine. That you would be back. That it is no big deal.’’

Ryle was stunned. He was so stunned that no words came out of his mouth.

’’But then as days passed by, we did not talk. I was busy and since you did not call or text, I assumed you must be busy...’’

His heart ached. It was not that he did not miss her during the times they were away. Every time he got reports from his guards that some new bastard let his eyes linger on her, or when she was too busy to eat and sleep or she was troubled by things, he had the urge to run back to her.

If he did not have things at hand, he would not have stayed there, so far away from Daisy that he could not reach out to her when he wanted to.

And he knew that if he called her, if he heard her voice, then he would let everything doom. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

So he kept coming back to her as a motivation and worked tirelessly to get done with everything so that he could come back to her.
