Chapter 196: Let’s go home

And that left them dumbfounded.

They could not believe that the devil who had threatened everyone starting from the police force to the elite members of the society had transformed into what seemed like an playful and loveable angel as he interacted with the woman in front of him.

Daisy did not say anything.

She slowly retreated from him and walked a few steps ahead before she picked up the phone from the grass where she had thrown it earlier.

Everyone was stunned when they saw how indifferent she was towards the man.

Some people had assumed that Daisy’s persona of being cold and inapproachable was probably a facade that was portrayed by her and their company on purpose.

But seeing the current situation, it did not seem to be like that.

However, Daisy did not seem to be the least bit concerned about what anyone thought or spoke.

She picked up her phone and turned to leave but she had just taken a step when she stopped and looked up at Ryle, ’’I am tired. Let’s go home.’’

Ryle’s tense heart loosened when he heard her words.

He reached out to hold her hand, ’’Yes...’’

Before Daisy could register what happened, the man let go of her hand and wrapped an arm around her waist before he picked her up in a princess carry.

Daisy did not struggle in his arms. She just moved her head to a comfortable position and wrapped an arm around his neck as he walked out of the place.

Ryle’s private guards and the guards of the Chen family also dispersed as if they were never there.

’’What’s happening here?" When Lu Xian walked out, he was greeted by the sight of Daisy being carried by a man. He could not see the man’s face and could only see his back but he would a fool if he did not recognize the person.

And seeing the crowd in the place, his face turned ugly. What exactly happened here in his absence?

Lu Xian’s face was a bit flushed and his clothes were dishevelled but because of the shock that they had received, nobody noticed these things.

Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu paled the moment they heard Lu Xian’s words. After all, what happened here was meant to be kept a secret from Lu Xian. Seeing that Lu Xian had left the party in between, they had even assigned some guards at the entrance to stop him from coming our or at least give them a heads up when he came out.

They thought after Daisy went into prison, whether or not she was proved innocent, there would be a dent on her image. It might not have been possible for such a trick to succeed if the current head of Chen family was Daisy’s father, Helian Chen.

But the society set different sets of standards and rules for men and women. What might not have been problem for Helian Chen could have successfully ruined Daisy’s reputation.

And by the time milk would have been spilled, so even if Lu Xian knew about it, he could not have done anything since the people who instigated it were his own biological parents.

But they could not believe that their well crafted plan was ruined just like that because of a variable they had not predicted.

’’I am asking something,’’ Faced with his parents’ silence, Lu Xian observed the place again and noticed the presence of the police officers. A bad premonition rose in his chest.

’’Mr. Lu,’’ the officer greeted him when he felt his gaze on him. Although his attitude towards the man was still as respectful as it was in the past but there was a hint of stiffness on his face that was hard to miss.

Lu Xian narrowed his eyes.

The officer then turned to look at Lu Xian’s parents, ’’Master Lu, Madam Lu, when you asked us to come over to detain Miss Chen, we thought you have solid evidence against her. But, not only that is not the case, we have also offended Mr. Harper now. In fact, the police officer also whitewashed his actions in order to maintain a decent image of the police department in the eyes of others. Both Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu never claimed to have any sort of solid evidences against Daisy. It was the police department who were willing to do some brownnosing since the other party was the Lu family.

They never thought that while enjoying benefits from a serpent, they would offend a dragon. So, in the end, they also felt unfortunate for having this deal with the Lu family and partly blamed them.

However, be it the serpent or the dragon, a normal animal cannot afford to offend them both. Hence, after indirectly blaming the Lu family with a soft approach, they took their leave.

Lu Xian closed his eyes and inhaled a deep breath. The words that the officer said before leaving reverberated in his mind and the sight of Daisy being carried by Ryle seemed to be playing again and again in front of his eyes, leaving a lingering pain in his heart.

’’Ah Xian...’’ Mrs. Lu approached her son when she saw his expressions.

Lu Xian opened his eyes, calmer than before. But the calm on his face reminded Mrs. Lu of the calm before the storm.

The man did not look at her even once as he let his eyes roam across the guests who had walked out to witness the farce.
