Chapter 189: Not the first time I saw you

Daisy had received several pictures from an unknown number. In all the pictures, Ryle was holding a woman’s hand. The side profiles of both the people were clearly visible and all the pictures were taken in Ryle’s glass mansion back in LA.

’’They are... probably edited. Why don’t you send them to me and I will check for you?" Ivy broke the tense atmosphere in the room as she said hesitantly.

’’They are not edited,’’ Daisy shook her head and scrolled through the pictures.

Seeing her calmness, Ivy felt worse. How could she not see that these pictures were not fake at all? She had said it just so that Daisy would momentarily feel better. But, then she almost forgot that Daisy was not a noob in such matters. She did not need to double check to know whether these pictures are fake or real.

’’Daisy...’’

Daisy looked up and saw the heartbroken look on Ivy’s face and it took her a moment to realize why the girl seemed to be upset.

’’Its no big deal. Don’t worry.’’

’’But... aren’t you going to confront him? How could he...?"

’’He went back for work matters,’’ Daisy remembered that when Benjamin had called Ryle that day, he had mentioned about them finding someone whom they were looking for since a long time and it was a woman he was speaking about, ’’And I trust him.’’

Daisy patted Ivy’s head.

Seeing that the person who needed to be comforted was comforting her, Ivy calmed down, ’’Since you have faith, I won’t say anything.’’

Daisy nodded.

She trusted Ryle and that was undeniable. As for other matters, she was not a fool. Ryle was holding a woman’s hand and someone just happened to be there to click a picture of them in that moment and then later send it to her. She did not have to think much to understand that this was someone’s scheme.

For Ryle’s matters, he would tell her when he came back but she could not help but think about the person who would send such pictures to her. What were their motives?

"Look into this number,’’ Daisy said to Secretary Han when he came to pick her up for the event.

Secretary Han accepted her orders without any questioning.

At a grand seven star hotel.

The venue seemed to be hustling and bustling with elites. More so, there were even people from entertainment industry, making the anniversary event of Mr. and Mrs. Lu even livelier with their performances.

Daisy was not as close to Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu. If not for her business partnership with Lu Xian in the recent days, she would have not turned up for the event.

So, her actions were also perfunctory. She congratulated Mr Lu and Mrs Lu. And Secretary Han promptly passed her gifts to the Lu Family butler who received them from him.

Daisy could see that Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu didn’t really welcome her so she did not stay for long by their side.

Secretary Han could see that she seemed reluctant to stay for long so he could not help but approach her, ’’President, just hang in there. The venue is full with media members. It will be all over the tomorrow’s headlines if you leave now, and that too without meeting the second master Lu,’’ he spoke in a low voice.

Daisy pinched the spot between her brows, ’’Tell me, how long will it take for Lu Xian to be here?"

Secretary Han had done his homework before he came so he quickly answered her, ’’From the information I have received, he should be here soon. The guards I had arranged near Lu Corporations informed me that he left the company around half an hour ago.’’

Daisy nodded and leaned back on the table with a glass of orange juice in her hand. The sooner he came back, the more convenient it would be for her to meet him and leave.

After thinking for a while, Daisy asked Secretary Han to leave and look into the number that she had sent him earlier.

Secretary Han understood that it must be something important so he nodded, ’’President, the guards are all stationed nearby. The moment you give them a sign, they will come over in no time,’’ he said.

Daisy nodded and agreed to his arrangements. Even if something went wrong, she would not need the guards. But still, just in case thing escalated beyond her calculations, it was not bad to have a backup.

After Secretary Han left, Daisy took a sip of her juice and observed her surroundings. Even though she was already standing in a corner, she could feel multiple gazes on her. Some people seemed to have the intention to approach her as well.

Daisy got up and walked away from the hall, finding a balcony attached to the end of the hallway on the other side. Once she was outside, she pulled out her phone and looked at the pictures she had received today from the unknown number.

The voice had her pause.

She turned around and glanced at Lu Xian who was leaning against the wall with his arms in front of his chest as he looked at her.

’’Some business matter?"

Lu Xian rolled his eyes at her words, ’’Do I only look for you when there are business matters? Aren’t we friends? Can’t I look for you just like that?"

Daisy shrugged.

The man approached her and took a seat on the couch in the balcony.

Daisy sat on the other side of the coffee table.

Lu Xian’s gaze traced over the forest green off shoulder gown that she had donned. He had not stayed for a long time in the hall. As soon as he came, his men informed him her location and he immediately came to find her.

But just with one glance at her, he could tell that her gown was the least fancy one amongst the others but somehow the color seemed to enhance her beauty. Her long hair fell over her shoulders when she leaned forward and picked up the glass of orange juice that she had kept on the table. Usually, she had a bare face but today, she seemed to have gotten light makeup done on her face and they highlighted her beautiful features.

’’Were you the one who extended the invite to me?"

Daisy’s question brought Lu Xian out of his daze.

He nodded, ’’Why do you ask?"

’’You should remember that your parents have only unpleasant memories about me. I am certain that on their happy day, I would be the last person they would want to see,’’ Daisy sipped her juice and crossed one leg above the other as she spoke. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Lu Xian sighed, ’’You don’t have to worry about such things. Since you are here already, it’s good for you to enjoy.’’

’’If I didn’t come, there would be news about the rivalry between Lus and Chens all over the news. The higher-ups in the company will be sitting on the thorns since you have recently acquired the large amount of shares,’’ Daisy looked at the man, ’’And you must be aware that I will think of these things and eventually come so you did not hesitate to invite me.’’

Lu Xian glanced at the woman’s accusing gaze and found himself amused, ’’Smart girl.’’

Daisy did not say anything but she leaned back on the chair.

After a few seconds when he thought he should talk about something, she said, ’’Don’t do it in the future. I don’t like being coerced into things.’’

Lu Xian sighed, ’’Fine, fine, my bad,’’ he paused for a moment and looked around, ’’Where is your little girl? Didn’t you bring her with you?"

’’She might not like such events,’’ Daisy replied softly. Whether Angel liked it or not, she was not going to bring her daughter to places from where she, as an adult, already wanted to get out as soon as possible.

Lu Xian nodded, ’’The little girl has grown so much. A few years ago, I would never have thought there would come a day where I would be sitting here with you, talking to you about your daughter.’’

His vague words made her pause. She looked at him questioningly, ’’What do you mean?"

Seeing her curious look, he smiled mysteriously, ’’Do you remember when you met me for the first time in the washroom?"

Daisy remembered it clearly. Back then, she used to work for Ryle so she was in a disguise. They had gone to a ball arranged by Lu Family where she went to the men’s washroom. She thought the place was empty but unexpectedly, she had bumped into Lu Xian, who later helped her keep her identity a secret from Ryle and sent her to the hospital when she fainted.

’’I do.’’

’’Then, do you remember I told you that it was not the first time I met you?"

Daisy fairly remembered that as well.
