Chapter 177: Cooperation with Lu Xian

’’What do you want in return?" Daisy questioned him without beating around the bush.

’’It’s a gift, I told you,’’ Lu Xian did not budge in the slightest.

Daisy pinched the spot between her brows, ’’Alright, I will buy the shares from you at the market price...’’

’’If you do that, I would rather not sell these shares to you and be one of the shareholders of Chen Corporations.’’

’’Mr. Lu, you must be joking with our President,’’ Caleb voiced out what concerned everybody at that moment, ’’Not to mention that the Lus and Chens have had a passive rivalry between them for decades, leaving the company shares in your hand will be no less than a ticking time bomb. The interruption made Lu Xian’s eyes darken and he tilted his head to look at the person who talked, ’’Who are you?" his voice held a hint of disdain.

’’A core member of Chen Corporation who stated a fact,’’ Daisy stepped in between them and the man’s gaze immediately shifted to her, no longer containing any trace of anger within them, ’’I refuse to take these shares if I am not buying them.’’

Daisy’s words made the people rub their aching hearts vigorously. They felt like, at this moment, their President should be a little treacherous and lower herself to accept the gift that was sent to her doorstep. It would solve most of the problems within an instant.

But Daisy did not seem to budge in the slightest.

’’And I stand by my words, Daisy,’’ Lu Xian was firm in his stance as well, ’’It’s just a trivial gift.’’

’’But the value of these shares is not trivial and I don’t make it a habit of accepting grand gestures as such,’’ Daisy calmly walked back to her seat and twirled the paperweight in her hand, ’’If you want to gift me something, then you can ask me what I want.’’

’’You don’t want these shares?’’ The reason Lu Xian had been so firm was because he knew that she was bound to accept his offer and accept his gift in the end since those were after all precious shares of the Chen Corporations. And he had no intention of keeping them with him also. He just wanted to please her in the end. But her response surprised him.

’’Since you want to be one of the shareholders of my company, I don’t have any reason to turn down your enthusiasm.’’

All of them felt like Daisy had certainly fallen for Lu Xian’s honey trap at this point.

’’If I don’t remember it wrong, you own the majority of shares in Lu Corporations. A rough estimate of 52%, am I right?"

Lu Xian’s brows raised slightly and the man’s handsome face seemed surprised again, ’’Do you want me to be offended or happy that you keep track of information about me?"

’’Doesn’t matter. I won’t accept the shares if I am not buying them from you but I would accept if you gift me a percentage of shares of Lu Corporations.’’

There was a pin-drop silence in the meeting room following Daisy’s words.

People felt their breaths stuck in their throats as they glanced at Lu Xian.

Lu Xian stiffened as well, clearly not expecting such a demand from Daisy but under her challenging gaze, his face bloomed into a smile, ’’Not a big deal.’’

’’10% shares,’’ Daisy dropped another bomb without a single change in her expression.

Lu Xian nodded, ’’I will ask my lawyer to start the preparations for the share transfer.’’

Daisy glanced at Secretary Han who stepped forward immediately.

’’And our lawyers will be ready to assist yours, President Lu,’’ the man said, understanding Daisy’s gaze.

Lu Xian waved his hand nonchalantly.

Daisy rested in her chair, putting down her heart that had been hanging all the while.

Secretary Han understood it too. To other people, it might have looked like Daisy was just being firm and stubborn about her ideas but he knew she was also skeptical. However, she handled the matter delicately because if Lu Xian took offense at this juncture, then it might impact Chen Corporation in the end. If Daisy accepted the shares for free, then she would certainly owe Lu Xian a favor in the future. And that would leave them in a dilemma no matter what.

Lu Xian extended his hand towards Daisy, ’’A good partnership is on its way.’’

’’Certainly,’’ Daisy took the man’s hand and shook it with a straight face.

Lu Xian turned around and faced the people in the meeting room this time. Every move of the man screamed arrogance, ’’Since I am a shareholder now, I have another announcement to make.’’

Daisy’s eyes narrowed.

’’I want to make an investment...’’

"President," Secretary Han interrupted Lu Xian’s words and quickly moved towards Daisy.

"President... this... this..."

Daisy raised her eyes to look at him. His unusual stuttering made her follow his line of sight.

Secretary Han was looking at his phone in a daze.

Daisy extended her hand towards him.

Secretary Han suppressed his emotions and passed the phone to her hand. Taking a deep breath, he spoke, "President, an amount of $150 billion has been transferred to the company funds."

The higher-ups were stunned when they heard the announcement.

Lu Xian’s eyes darkened. And his fingers curled into fists. It did not take him much to figure out who had done this. And even if he had any doubts, Daisy’s softened features discarded them all.

Daisy looked at the phone in her hand quietly. One could not figure out what she was thinking at that moment.
