Chapter 134: I think it’s time
Diana seemed to be persistent about it but when Daisy gave her the reason of Angel falling sick, she seemed to hesitate.
’’Alright. If there is anything, you can call us,’’ Maxim said.
Daisy nodded and watched them leaving together. Since Angel was very close to both Maxim and Diana, she also did not kick any fuss.
Once Diana and Maxim were out of her sight, Daisy shifted her attention to the man sitting next to her, "What is wrong with her?" she cut to the chase.
Helian Chen stiffened for a moment before he regained his composure, ’’What do you mean by what’s wrong? I told you that she injured herself. Don’t you trust me on that?" freēwēbηovel.c૦m
His minute slip in expressions did not go unnoticed by her. She knew that there something more to this whole accident that their father was not talking about however she also understood that no matter how much she asked, he won’t tell her unless he wanted to.
There have been countless times in the past where their mother would fake injuries or exaggerate fever and common cold and get herself admitted to hospital to get their father’s attention. Diana and her had been young back then and they would always be paranoid if something was wrong with their mother.
But then they would see their father acting completely calm and nonchalant about it.
However, this time, the man seemed to have been shaken or knowing him, he would have never called Diana and her and get them to travel when Diana was pregnant. Their was something unsettling about this matter that Daisy could not put a finger on.
’’You can go freshen up...’’
’’No,’’ The man cut her off before she could finish her words. When he saw her probing gaze, he averted his gaze and said, ’’You go to the mansion. The little girl might look for you and your sister also does not seem to be in an ideal condition. They will need you.’’
"You called us all the here from Los Angeles only to send us to the mansion to rest?"
Daisy’s straightforward question seemed to have startled the man who remained quiet for a moment, ’’You won’t understand...’’
Daisy opened her mouth to say something but in the end, she pushed herself to her feet, "If things are too much, you can still decide to talk about it.’’
She did not force the man but left the hospital after saying the words.
Helian Chen looked at his elder daughter’s retreating back and felt his heart clench. From the beginning to the end, she did not look at her mother except for learning about her condition. He knew that she hated them both and did not want to have anything to do with them. After all, they had let her down many times in the past. But they broke her last straw when Angel appeared at the mansion on Daisy’s wedding day and they talked about sending her away to some foster care.
Helian Chen knew that that matter had left a knot in Daisy’s heart which would be forever unresolved. But despite the tough exterior that she portrayed, her words showed that she still cared for them.
Then, the thing that he had in his mind, he could implement it.
"President, shall I get your dinner over to hospital or do you want to go to a restaurant?" The man’s secretary-turned-butler-from-the-past-two-days appeared in front of him.
’’Call the lawyers, Secretary Han,’’ The gentleness from Helian Chen’s face was replaced with determination as he stood up and walked towards the ICU, one of his hands being tucked inside his pocket, ’’I think it’s time.’’
Realizing what his words indicated, the secretary’s face paled, "But President, Elder Miss might not agree to the arrangements and you should wait until Madam wakes up. She might not be happy with everything,’’ he felt like the man was being too impulsive about this matter so he could not help but remind him.
’’No need,’’ Helian Chen lifted his head, his gaze landing on Alice who was lying on the hospital bed with a pale face. It seemed like the life force was withered out of her and any moment, the soft rise and fall of her chest would stop. A hint of gentleness flickered in his cold eyes momentarily, "I don’t want to waste more time.’’
Secretary Han looked like he wanted to say something more but in the end, he could only bow and leave.
Daisy reached the Chen Mansion not long after Maxim and Diana. As she stepped inside the place, she could not help but look around.
The last time she was here, she was disguised as Dexter and she had barged inside the place, causing chaos in the process as she tried to look into Angel’s whereabouts. She never thought she would come back to this place again.
The servants greeted her at every step but nobody dared to linger longer than necessary. It was as if they were scared of something and they did not want to confront it.
Daisy frowned and asked the butler to get the chefs to prepare the breakfast and send it over to Diana’s room. When she walked upstairs to Diana’s room, she stood in front of the door, contemplating whether to knock or not because of the possibility of Angel sleeping but right at that moment, the door opened from inside.
As Maxim walked out of the room and closed the door behind him, Daisy caught sight of Diana and Angel who were sleeping together.
They walked away from the room so as to not wake the both of them up.
"What is it?" Maxim questioned without wasting another moment.
As expected of the man, he must have noticed that something was amiss in the whole situation but he did not talk about it in Diana’s presence.
As if he could read her thoughts, Maxim said, ’’She has been meditating lately to not overthink about things. Her past tendencies started showing up more during the first trimester of the pregnancy. It’s not to the extent that she should see a counsellor but it still upsets her easily.’’
