Chapter 101: Don’t you blame me?

Daisy softly held the edge of the sleeve of his shirt.

Ryle glanced at the spot where she was gripping him before he glanced at her.

"Why?"

Why, after all these confrontations are you still so good to me?

Why you be there when even I am unable to be there for myself?

Why do you treat me so well?

What is that you want from me?

All the questions and it all summed up to just a simple ’why’ when it came out of her mouth.

"Sleep.’’

Daisy grabbed his hand before the man could leave, ’’I asked you something.’’

Ryle looked at her quietly for a long time, heightening her anticipation. Eventually, the man opened his mouth to speak, "Are you seducing me?"

Daisy looked at the man in disbelief, ’’You are ridiculous."

"Given your taste in men and friendships people like Lu Xian, I can say that your aesthetics are pretty twisted. So, if you find me ridiculous, then it’s quite the vice versa. I’ll take that as a compliment then.’’

Daisy released her grip on the man’s hand.

’’Since you seem to be so full of energy, let’s talk.’’

’’What do you want to talk about?"

’’The weather, or you?"

Daisy rolled her eyes, ’’You will make a very cheap flirt.’’ ƒreewebɳovel.com

Ryle chuckled, ’’I will let you have me for free, what cheap or expensive?’’ He laughed even harder when a soft gasp escaped her mouth and her face flushed slightly.

’’If you have something serious to talk about, then talk. Or else...’’ Daisy trailed off realizing that it was his own house and she could not even ask him to get lost, ’’Or else don’t talk at all.’’

The man sat on the chair by the bed, ’’Well, I guess you will have to tolerate my annoying voice a bit longer.’’

Annoying? He sounded like that of a sin, his voice was so deep and charismatic that she would be prone to being entranced by it if she was not looking at his face and reminding herself that it was Ryle Harper, not some random passerby whom the voice belonged to.

’’How many enemies have you made in recent years? Who are the prominent ones?" Ryle cut to the chase, the playful aura around him dispersed the moment he addressed the matter that had been on the back of his head.

’’None who possess the power of pursuing me to this extent,’’ Daisy shook her head, ’’Some of your rivals could be offended by Dexter but as you suggested earlier, they would not dare to lay their hand on your employee recklessly. Even if they do, they can’t possibly know my real identity.’’

Ryle fell silent for a long time.

When Daisy thought he lost his questioning spirit after encountering the dead end and he was not going to analyze any further, the man asked a question that made her freeze, ’’Who is Angel’s father?"

Daisy was stunned by the sudden turn in Ryle’s questioning.

’’You quit the job and ran away because you were pregnant at that time. That is what you told me. Who is Angel’s father?" There was some strange sort of discomfort in Ryle’s chest when he uttered a question. It felt as if there was burn inside him, an ugly green-eyed monster rearing heads in all directions.

When Daisy turned to look at him, the man had masked all his abnormalities. He was looking at her, utterly calm as he waited for her to answer his question.

’’I wish I knew,’’ Daisy did not have any sort of attachment with the man whom she was involved with but being in the dark triggered her. She was alright with it if the man also had no idea about her but if he knew who she was, and she was the only person in the dark then it put her under threat. Any moment he might come and create issues that might involve Angel.

’’It was the night we were looking for some information about the drug lord of that particular organization you were looking into. And initially, I thought it was the man who was the subordinate of the drug lord, with whom you sent me to converse to extort some truth. But when I saw him in your torture cell and observed his reaction, I knew it wasn’t him...’’

Daisy stopped speaking when she noticed how solemn his expressions had grown. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

Ryle pushed himself to his feet and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling glass wall. He pressed his palm on a particular spot on the glass and the huge glass slid to the side, opening the space for the balcony.

As he stood on the balcony and looked out into the vast darkness of the stretch of forest behind his mansion, a heavy regret lodged itself in his heart that grew heavier and heavier with every passing moment.

’’Why did you come here so abruptly?" Daisy stepped inside the just and the wall that was about to close opened again because of the censor.

Ryle turned around to look at her as he leaned back on the railing, ’’Don’t you blame me?"

’’For what?" Daisy tilted her head.

’’I pushed you into this and I was not even there,’’ Ryle found it so ridiculous at the moment that he was angry at himself. He was having fun somewhere, sleeping around with some women while she was being exposed to the torment that should have never touched her.

Daisy did not go into the explicit details but her face, her naivety during their first kiss, and her body language told him more than she could have informed him about. He did not need to know the details to understand that it was her first time, and it was far from being pleasant.

’’It has nothing to do with you,’’ Daisy mumbled. She lowered her head and whispered in a softer voice, ’’Back then, I did think that you were a jinx in my life though. With your presence, nothing good can happen to me.’’

Ryle blinked when he heard her words, a hint of amusement and helplessness on his face. He believed she was not the only person around him who held such notions but she was pretty much the only one whose belief he was inclined to change.

’’But...’’
