Chapter 10: Exter Academy 4
Neron Statelas’s Point of View.
I froze in place under Professor Alisa’s gaze.
And how could I not?
I mean... she was extremely beautiful, but that wasn’t the real reason for my nervousness.
Oh, maybe it was part of the reason.
But the bigger reason was that I knew about her sharp personality; she had even been given the nickname "The Deadly Beauty."
Behind that enchanting beauty, there was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
Well... maybe I exaggerated a little.
No, a lot.
But she definitely looked like the type who could kill you with a single glance if something displeased her.
"You can stand beside your other classmates."
"..."
I blinked for a moment before saying hesitantly:
"Are you joking?"
She raised an eyebrow slightly. "And why would I do that in the first place? Hurry up, I don’t have all day."
...Huh? Is that all?
Won’t she kill me? Or at least punish me for being late?
Could the reason be that I’m the son of the Statelas family?
Mmm... possible.
I let out a light sigh before heading to the back.
Once again. For the third time today, I found myself standing at the rear.
Do I have some kind of fated connection with back-row spots or what?
I leaned my back against the wall and raised my head slightly.
Alisa was holding a small electronic tablet, while her cold gaze swept over us for a few moments before she spoke:
"Since everyone is here now... let’s begin."
She paused for a moment, then cast a quick glance toward me before continuing calmly:
"From now on, you will be transported randomly to different areas throughout the simulation. You will form teams with the people who are transported to the same location..."
She pressed the electronic tablet she was holding.
And in the next moment, several blue portals appeared behind her.
Everyone froze for a moment in shock, before Alisa’s voice brought them back to reality:
"Thanks to the great efforts the academy has made, we managed to make the simulation look extremely realistic. You will feel hunger, thirst, exhaustion. And even pain when you are injured. The academy spent a fortune on this project, and we would not have been able to achieve it without Professor Anderson Light. He is the main person responsible for developing this realistic environment."
I felt nothing upon hearing the name Anderson Light.
Why would I feel anything?
I know him well.
In fact, every person in this room has heard his name.
Who doesn’t know Anderson Light in the first place?
One of the smartest humans on the face of the Earth.
And someone who will have a massive role in the story’s events in the future.
And someone... whom I may have to kill, if I decide to carry out the author’s request, even though, honestly, I do not want to do that.
I sighed inwardly.
I wanted to return to my family. To my old life.
But I know very well that that is close to impossible.
And yet... there is still a small part of me clinging to hope.
Even if it is tiny.
I do not want to regret it later.
So I will think about it calmly. But for now...
I had to focus on becoming stronger.
And to do that, I had to interfere in the plot and take advantage of everything I know.
Even if that leads to changing the entire future...
I do not care.
I let out a light sigh, finally stopping myself from drowning in my thoughts as I listened to Alisa’s words.
"Since this is the first trial you will go through, we will leave you free to move however you want. But there will be a small mission... and that is surviving."
"There will be extra points granted to those who survive until the end. You may also fight each other without restrictions... everything is allowed. Even killing."
"But don’t worry too much. If one of you dies there, they will immediately return here." She raised the tablet slightly as she added:
"And there is a side mission. The team that succeeds in completing it will receive the highest number of points... and that is finding the flag....That is all...Everyone, get ready."
Not even a second passed before she spoke again:
"Then, let us begin. Each of you will enter one at a time."
She said that in an uninterested tone, while yawning lazily, before the students began moving forward one after another toward the blue portals.
I remained standing in my place for some time.
I was not in a hurry to enter.
Anyway, there was something else occupying my attention.
Or rather... two people. freewёbnoνel.com
I fixed my gaze on Larshia.
She was standing calmly beside a young man who possessed dark black eyes, as dark as the night itself. And pure white hair that created a strange contrast with his sharp features.
And honestly...He was annoyingly handsome.
He was even nearly as handsome as Ethan. In fact, the academy uniform looked as though it had been made specifically for him, highlighting his appearance even more.
Ah... I know you very well.
Zahid Nitscheid.
The golden boy of the Rathion family, one of the Four Great Families.
One of the main characters, and the direct rival of the protagonist.
Born with a golden spoon in his mouth, spoiled, hates losing, and somewhat arrogant. Everyone carries the habit of calling him "Young Master."
But despite that...
He was frighteningly intelligent.
In fact, he could perhaps be compared to Larshia herself, who had lived for hundreds of years.
And honestly...
He was one of the characters I genuinely liked.
"What a wonderful feeling... and an annoying one at the same time."
To suddenly find yourself in the same world you had been working on all this time... and to stand before the characters you loved and knew...
It was an indescribable feeling. But when that turns into actual reality... it becomes truly irritating.
"Ah, life and what events it hides."
"Fwoooof—"
I took a deep breath and quickly looked away from them.
I did not want to stare at Larshia for too long.
Because that...
Would make me remember what had happened a little while ago in the room.
And merely recalling that memory was enough to send a cold shiver running down my spine.
"...Forget about it."
I lightly shook my head, trying to distract my thoughts.
"Distract yourself with something else. Yeah... let’s go."
I began walking quickly toward one of the portals, blending into the crowd of students. freёwebnoѵel.com
They cast glances at me from time to time.
Well... that was not strange.
I am the son of the Statelas family.
The direct heir... and the only one. I do not even have rivals for succession.
I truly do not think I will ever get used to this.
I stopped in front of one of the blue portals.
I took a slow breath, then stepped forward.
And entered.
