Chapter 508: Chapter 504: Recommending Skincare Products

"What brings you here? Come on inside."

Zhang Tianming’s eyes landed on the box in the man’s hands. ’He’s not here to give me another gift, is he?’

But there were too many prying eyes outside, so Zhang Tianming had the man come inside.

Once inside, the man lifted the box and opened it. "Mr. Zhang, you know how effective our facial soap and shampoo bars are. Well, this is a skincare product from the same master who created the facial soap. It’s excellent for repairing and restoring the skin."

"Our Third Master specifically had me bring this for Miss Zhu to see."

Hearing this, Zhang Tianming’s face immediately darkened.

"Didn’t I tell you? Don’t bring me gifts. I won’t accept them. Take it back!"

Lu Yuanbin’s subordinate hurriedly spoke up.

"Mr. Zhang, this isn’t a gift. We’re selling it to you. Two hundred for a set."

Zhang Tianming was so angry he had to laugh.

This Lu Yuanbin often used his thugs to collect stall fees and act as lookouts so the common folk could sell their wares. It was all small-time stuff, so Zhang Tianming just turned a blind eye.

In his position, he knew that water too pure has no fish. Besides, life was hard for the people below him. Selling a few farm products didn’t really count as illegal profiteering.

Plus, Lu Yuanbin seemed to have some principles—he didn’t go around bullying people. So, Zhang Tianming’s impression of him wasn’t half bad.

But for this guy to try and make money off of *him*... now that took some serious nerve.

"You have some nerve, openly coming here to sell me things. Aren’t you afraid I’ll have you arrested?"

Getting arrested right now would be a huge problem.

The subordinate was a clever one, though. Startled as he was, he rushed to explain.

"Mr. Zhang, please don’t be angry. We just came to show it to you. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. We’re not here to pressure you into a sale. We just thought... what if this could actually help your wife’s face!"

"But if you’re not interested, then never mind."

’Third Master told me to just bring it over for them to see. If they like it, I leave it. If not, I take it back. Simple as that.’

Zhang Tianming didn’t make things difficult for him.

He let the man pack up his things to leave.

Zhu Wanqi, inside the room, had heard every word of the conversation outside. When she heard the man was about to leave, she threw open the door and came out.

"Wait, don’t go yet. Let me see your product."

Hearing this, Lu Yuanbin’s subordinate stopped in his tracks, glanced at Zhang Tianming, and didn’t open the box.

Zhang Tianming looked at Zhu Wanqi, his voice gentle.

"Don’t be impulsive. I’ve never heard of this stuff. What if you use it and it has no effect, or worse, it makes your condition worse? Just wait for me to find you a doctor!"

But Zhu Wanqi insisted on taking a look.

At that, Zhang Tianming didn’t stop her.

Only then did Lu Yuanbin’s subordinate open the box.

The box was carved from wood, possessing a similar artful quality to the previous shampoo bar.

Lifting the lid revealed a lining of meticulously treated straw. Resting on the straw were several glass bottles painted with a green bamboo motif. The bottles themselves were a lovely, delicate shape she had never seen before.

The moment she saw the box, Zhu Wanqi was convinced. This had to have been made by the same person who created the facial soap.

Although the previous facial soap wasn’t expensive, it exuded elegance in every detail.

Back then, she had been too angry to compare them carefully, which is why she had accused the wrong person.

Because she had nearly wronged Lu Yuanbin, Zhu Wanqi had made a point to speak with Zhang Tianming about it after she returned. She wanted to compensate Lu Yuanbin in some way, but Zhang Tianming told her that Lu Yuanbin was a "little fox" who didn’t need her concern. He insisted Lu Yuanbin hadn’t lost out at all; in fact, he had milked the situation for all it was worth.

And so, Zhu Wanqi had let the matter drop.
