Chapter 239: Adrian’s Wrath [4]
Still hanging in the air, body pierced by several stone spikes, Fafnir manifested a shadow carpet and used it to use Shadowstep and escape.
BOOM!
Once he disappeared, Adrian landed on the spot Fafnir was standing on, crushing it like a furious volcano.
If Fafnir had been a second late, he would have been crushed!
The moment Adrian turned around to search for Fafnir, 4 shadow beasts, two wolves and two owls, struck him immediately. One owl and one wolf used shadow lightning, the other two used ice.
Adrian looked down and charged his fist before slamming the ground, causing a flaming shockwave that threw the shadow beasts away.
Next, he jumped to the lightning owl, attached his fists together, raised them above his head, and smashed the owl down like a hammer.
The owl crashed like a flaming meteor and disappeared immediately.
Wasting no time, he used a fire burst to aim himself and land precisely on the ice wolf, sending it into oblivion and leaving only a hole of lava where it stood.
"Argh!"
At that moment, a pillar of lightning struck him and paralyzed him for a moment. From the corner of his eye, he already detected Fafnir by tracing the trail left by the lightning, regenerating all the holes in his body.
The lightning wolf emerged behind him and closed its mouth on his neck, sending volts of electricity through the small scratch that it barely made in his neck.
However, the wolf was already dying from the flaming armor that was burning everything around it, not to mention something that was in contact with it!
Simultaneously, the ice owl landed with its legs on Adrian’s shoulders and gritted its... beak... trying to pierce his shoulder with its claws.
The ice ability of the owl already worked in weakening the flames, though it was at a great disadvantage and barely affected Adrian.
"RAAAAH!" Adrian gritted his teeth and increased the heat of his armor.
He immediately turned his head toward the wolf, moved his head a little backward, then struck the wolf with his mask.
The wolf’s head was crushed and the wolf disappeared like a shadow facing the light of the sun.
The next moment, Adrian held the owl’s legs and pulled in two opposite directions until the owl was ripped apart like a piece of meat.
It had to be mentioned that the owl was over two times his size!
Clink!
Fafnir seized the opportunity to strike Adrian’s neck again, 7 blades following his strike to hit the same spot.
At the same time, several shadow hands materialized and clenched Adrian’s head while freezing it.
But nothing changed. Once again, his blade couldn’t sever Adrian’s neck.
’Damn!’
Adrian instantly grabbed Fafnir’s arm, yet before he could pull Fafnir closer, Fafnir cut his own arm with his sword and seized the opportunity to escape in time and use Shadowstep.
If Fafnir wasn’t a shadow, he would be gasping for breath and sweating heavily now.
’Maybe he didn’t show everything back then, but I’m very sure he wasn’t like this!’
What happened exactly in the White Abyss? How did Adrian become such a monster? What was his weakness now?
Even a clear strike to the neck wasn’t enough to kill him!
And the sword...
’Oh no.’
Fafnir’s sword was already showing hints of being melted by the intense heat. If that continued, he’d find himself without a physical sword very soon.
’If only I could use that...’
Fafnir’s mind drifted unconsciously to Greed.
Or to be precise, the first relic Dante obtained, the segmented sword that could be considered the strongest weapon Dante ever possessed.
"Do it."
Greed appeared next to him and whispered: "A clean strike of this sword is enough to slice through him like butter. You only need a second. One second and you’ll be done. Just summon it and finish the job."
Fafnir didn’t pay Greed any mind.
If Dante possessed a great amount of misfortune... then only one second could be vital for him. Fafnir would rather die forever than cause his master to get distracted in a dangerous situation.
Clap!
All of a sudden, Adrian clapped with both hands.
The heat around him increased. From the small gaps between his hands, surges of flames erupted, as though something was being compressed between his hands.

The mana and spiritual energy gathered in front of Fafnir to unleash an attack, but he was immediately distracted as stone spikes rose from under him, yet he jumped immediately and survived with only a few scratches.
The heat surrounding Adrian kept increasing in intensity to the point that he began to sink in lava.
Yet, Adrian didn’t seem to care. His gaze was focused solely on his hands as the gauntlets gleamed with a flaming glow.
Suddenly, a shadow beam shot toward Adrian. Most of the beam was blocked automatically by the heat, turning it into black smoke, and the small amount that landed only froze Adrian’s face slightly before the black ice evaporated.
Three other beams attacked him, but the same result occurred. Despite everything, Adrian continued focusing on compressing the flames.
"HAHAHAHA!"
Adrian laughed and finally opened his hand, revealing a small ball of fire.
With no hesitation, Adrian hit the ball with an uppercut, sending it above the arena right at the centre.
BOOM!
The compressed ball exploded without a single warning, but what was left was a giant ball of flames that increased the temperature significantly and weakened all shadows.
And Fafnir was among them.
Even the cold shadow veil was destroyed in an instant. Creating a similar veil was completely impossible.
"Do you like my sun?" Adrian asked mockingly, spreading his arms to embrace the light of the new artificial sun.
"Now let’s see you trying to escape!"
Adrian clashed his knuckles, causing a faint shockwave and a metallic sound that tore through the air.
Without a warning, he charged toward Fafnir.
BAM!
His arm tore through Fafnir’s cloak and stomach with ease. At the exact moment, Fafnir dismissed his sword and held Adrian’s face with both hands, his thumbs trying to go into the mask’s opening to pop Adrian’s eyes while spreading ice across his head.
"Useless!"
Adrian charged his second fist and punched Fafnir in the face. Fafnir’s body split in half because of Adrian’s grip and the upper half crashed into a wall.
To all the observers... it was a one-sided fight.
